I finally succeeded in reading this entire bible in 2025, after failing to finish in 2023 & 2024. I read all the articles and footnotes, too. This had more pages than any study bible I had read previously. These notes are from a Pentecostal perspective, not an evangelical perspective. I had not heard all these opinions before. This is a very good resource for anyone who wants detailed articles and footnotes about the Holy Spirit.

The ESV has been my primary translation for reading and study for a number of years now, and I thoroughly enjoy each read-through. I found the notes and articles in this edition interesting and helpful (although my I do not endorse or hold to all of the same views as the author). House with any study Bible, the biblical text is inspired. The notes and study helps are not. There are plenty of resources for study in the cross-references, the subject index, and the “Twelve key themes.”
