The Black Tiger

Rate this book
The Black Tiger is a product of a lucid research into the complicated world of black money—its mechanisms, its movement, and its soft spots. A meditative and well-referenced critique of corruption and its corruptible practices, the book is a study of various countries across time and geography that have fought corruption in their own systems. From the ICAC of Hong Kong to the Clean Governance of Georgia and from the fight against Foreign Parked Black Money by a US court to the truly consequential None of the Above vote of Colombia, Srijan Pal Singh, trusted advisor and a close associate of Dr. Kalam, analyses case after case, putting forth cogent arguments on the many dimensions of corruption and how it can be systematically weeded out from India. At once fascinating, absorbing, and informative, The Black Tiger is a must-read for those who wish to know how India can become a superpower in the next few years, as envisioned by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

The Black Tiger by Srijan Pal Singh is an analysis of one the most grave topic of corruption and black money and because of that the youth of India as a nation, which is at its peak in terms of population, is on the verge of losing hope with this democratic nation.

Written by a social entrepreneur who is involve in studying and evolving sustainable development systems, Srijan Pal Singh, with his years of research on black money that believes is eating out the nation from inside. He clearly expresses its mechanisms and movements and soft spots. The book contains tons of facts presented in manner that is understandable by a reader.

As a reader further dwell in this book, he will notice the narrative voice copes well with the context represented. Since it is a non-fiction work with loads of case studies, there isn't much into writing style. On reading the book, I can say it is a work of effort both for the author and the editing team since they bestow this vast coverage of issues in one of the largest democratic country in the world.

I enjoyed this book and think makes an effort to eradicate the real issues such as Poverty, unemployment and illiteracy we face as a society. I will recommend this book to anyone who is whether familiar or unfamiliar with current ongoing situation. The book contains immense of facts with few pragmatic advice on how every citizen  be a part to change the course of their own future.

Author Srijan Pal Singh is renowned social entrepreneur and has worked closely with Late Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam as an adviser. Title of this book simply refers to the most fatal disease our democracy has been suffering since its inception-Corruption.

In the beginning,he mentions demonetization and aftermath. How it has taken toll on common men and riche rich still managed to escape by playing ‘Jugaad”

Chapter wise, he talks about widespread wings of corruption across various fields like politics, corporate, bureaucracy, education ,law and judiciary ,media and also gave some amazing workable solutions to curb and remove corruption in each filed.

In last chapter, black money, tax evasion and tax fraud is discussed. Here author could not give his clear idea or solution for the problem.

As far as language and narration, this book being non-fiction, one should not expect poetic narration. Still to make dry subject like corruption interesting, author has used so many real life incidents, cases, charts and graphs. He has also quoted Dr.Kalam in every chapter, those precious words of the legend himself are so inspiring and heartwarming.

Well, I really like this book and appreciate all implantable measures to deal with corruption. But personally I feel corruption starts at individual level and then spread in system. So unless and until, we do not have individuals with consciousness, this disease can’t be removed from its root.

Lastly,I would like to thank Neeraj from Fingerprint Publishing for providing me review copy.

The book admittedly is a start in the right direction; all of the problems it identifies are almost spot-on accurate. Some of the suggested solutions are actually excellent, and workable – provided we find the will for the same. The straightforward data-based analysis leaves no scope for much debate insofar as the problem description & diagnosis is concerned. The solutions aspect, though, is another matter. Take the examples of Property, or Manifestos, or party whips; are the changes implementable? I fear not. The only place where the book falls marginally short is in corporate governance and corporate corruption. The problems are systemic, deep-rooted and endemic, and will need deep change at entire organizational systems and processes level. The problem identification is incomplete, as it looks at only one small aspect of Corporate Corruption – the reality is far scarier, and virtually endemic… all the rest is spot-on, and the author deserves a standing ovation for putting together this masterpiece..

This is a book, to be read by Indians all over. Srijan Pal Singh talk about corruption, breaking it down to list the possible cause and possible remedies.
Srijan Pal Singh had worked with late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and had co-authored three books with him.

This book touches on various topics such as the greed that propels corruption; how the political system can be transformed; the importance of the judicial system and how that can be improved; corporate corruption; corruption in media and ethics; exporting of black money into offshore accounts and possible solutions; righteousness; and what we can do. This book was highly informative and educational. It was written in a manner which was very easy to understand, and I took away a lot from it.

Now this is a book of tremendous effort! Such a detailed analysis on corruption and effective ways to weed it out in each and every field and sector makes you go just WOW!!

It gives you immense knowledge, it inspires each and every one on how they too can contribute their bit to the society, and most importantly it gives you hope that Dr.APJ Sir's vision of India 2020 can really be achieved!! What else can one expect from Mr.Srijan Pal Singh, A big THANK YOU Sir!!

Now though the book is loaded with facts, it is simple and easily understandable! I would even recommend each and every school in India to have this book in their library shelves ASAP!!

The author has brilliantly written right from the case studies which happened internationally in the past, to the current happenings of Election of Trump and Demonetization in India. Such a vast coverage and research is really unimaginable but has been made possible here!! And so many example stories for one to understand about each and every subject is also given!!

I totally loved the book and I wish every citizen of India reads it soon, and makes effort to curb the black money menace once and for all from our system! And yes, I take my oath that I will do my part for it to happen surely!!
