A sweet story with an original storyline and true-to-life characters who are still working to achieve their best selves. The themes of forgiveness and looking forward are ones we can all reflect upon as we bear in mind that we are all growing and changing in every moment of our lives.

Love Inspired stories always provide a fitting lesson that is applicable to all, and when I read them, I always come away with a line that really hits home for me. This time it was one about not allowing past hurts to rob you of future hopes and present happiness. We all need to have faith and focus on the future, not on the past.

Woman wakes up to amnesia, has a fiancé but can't remember falling in love with him or getting engaged. They have to get to know each other again. There's also a mystery element.

Cute. Whatever. I'm so sick of Amish romances.

HOW'S THE SEX, CARMEN?

A few chaste kisses.

So this is the real reason I bought the "Easter in Amish Country" compilation of two novels. One was unremarkable, and the other was this one. I'm burned out on the Amish romance genre in general. It was a bit of silly, escapist fun for a while. I admired their adherence to formula, the different ways the authors worked within that formula, the pieces swapped in and out to create new characters and new stories. I think this type of writing is clever and underrated. But as I work my way through my shelves of unread books, I'm whittling my interest down from just the authors I really like. So far there's one: Carrie Lighte.

I don't know what it is about her storytelling that resonates with me. I think it's her flawed characters. In Harlequin Romance Love Inspired everything is gentle and most people are sweet and thinly drawn. She has actual complex characters who do bad things. Like Aaron in this story. She's a good writer and it wouldn't surprise me if she rose above the category romance world into Nora Roberts territory.

Anna Weaver and Fletcher Chupp’s story was an emotional read with Anna suffering an accident that caused her memory loss before her upcoming reading. The characters were real with their quirks and traits that shined through the story with frustrations arising and others inserting their own behaviors that were hurtful at times. Anna discovered her true heart despite what her previous beau said to her. This was a nice read and I’m glad a friend loaned the book to me. I was not required to write a review but have expressed my own opinion.

NoTe: Goodreads has this listed as the first book in a series. *IT IS NOT*. The book before this is 'Amish Triplets for Christmas'. Which I didn't look for, because this site said THIS was book #1. Aurgh...!! Anyhow, moving on...

A very 'meh' book, considering the unusual premise of an Amish girl with amnesia who can't remember her best friends, fiancé, or the one very important thing she'd been going to meet him to talk to him about. It could've been done really well... but it wasn't.

I'm not saying that the story doesn't flow... it does, but it starts out too fast. Anna wakes up, doesn't remember, cousin, brothers, time lost, fiancé?!, tornado...? Like that. It's all too quick, but it doesn't feel like we're *experiencing* it quickly (as Anna was). That would be unique and an interesting way to write it. No, I mean that the author was in a hurry to blitz through the premise and NOT introduce things to us so that we felt pulled into the story.

This whole thing felt a little clinical - like we were watching a documentary, not a romance.

Anna was being courted by Aaron. Her hellion cousin comes to live with her family, and Aaron and the cousin hook up, instead. Then Anna's dad dies, her stepmom goes into deep depression, she takes a job to help with the money problems at a store in town, where she makes two new best friends, and while walking in the town park, she meets a new Amish man in town. Fletcher is from Ohio and Aaron's cousin. They hit it off, court almost secretly, and then because of a tornado, are given the opportunity to wed in the spring instead of the fall (which both agreed would've been too soon). They went thru marriage classes... and one night, a note is delivered to Fletcher saying that Anna has something very important to tell him after work.

And then Anna falls and hits her head and forgets EVERYTHING up to where her stepmom goes into depression. She doesn't remember her new besties, her fiancé, the tornado, the courtship... nothing. But the way it's written, it's like it's just a fact, not an experience. The family and friends tease about it like it's not serious. And while Fletcher is kind of afloat... we don't really connect with his feelings in this, either.

Which is a problem with the way it's written. If a story doesn't resound, it's because of the telling. And this... was problematic. On SO MANY levels.

First, Anna journal. Everyone knows it - she's "always writing in it"... but nobody suggests she READS THE JOURNAL until halfway through the book. Then it's hidden. Up a TREE, in a tin that would glint sunlight. Really?!?!?!

Second, she doesn't seek out information. She finds out about her two besties (sisters)... but she doesn't go and TALK to them. She finds out about Fletcher, but then she refuses to be alone with him, and when he gets her alone, she doesn't ask any questions. That's NOT how a person needing to know what happened would be!!! It drove me CRa.z.y. that she didn't ask Fletcher more about their courtship and himself. If I were engaged to someone, I'd want to know everything about him! That's... not how this goes, at all. And it hurt the book. A lot.

I just felt this could have been written FAR better than it was. By the end, I was finally feeling a little more affable towards Fletcher, but for most of the book he's just too distant and Anna doesn't connect with herself, let alone the reader.

The description was good, the dialog solid, the details worked out well... but I can't say I really enjoyed it, so... three stars.

Anna's Forgotten Fiancé by Carrie Lighte
(Amish Country Courtships)
An accident leaves Anna Weaver with no memory of her Amish hometown’s newest arrival—her fiancé! After a whirlwind courtship, their wedding’s in six weeks…but how can she marry a man she can’t remember? Carpenter Fletcher Chupp takes her on a walk down memory lane, but there’s one thing he wants to keep hidden: a secret that might just lose him the woman he loves.
This is Anna Weaver and Fletcher Chupp's story.
Anna Weaver slowly opened her eyes. Sunlight played off the white sheets and she quickly lowered her lids again, groaning. Her mind was swirling with questions but her mouth was too dry to form any words.
“Have a drink of water,” a female voice beside her offered. “Little sips. Don’t gulp it.”
The young woman supported Anna’s head until she’d swallowed her fill and then eased her back against the pillow. Anna squinted toward the figure.
And the one who is most anxious to see you is your fiancé. He’ll stop in after work again, no doubt.”
“I was referring to your new suitor. That is, to your fiancé, Fletcher. Fletcher Chupp, Aaron’s cousin from Ohio.”
Fletcher stooped to pick up a cordless drywall screw gun and a handful of screws that had fallen to the floor.
“Don’t forget to gather all of your tools before leaving the work site for the evening,” he reminded Roy and Raymond Keim, Anna’s stepbrothers.
I highly recommend reading.

Anna's Forgotten Fiance is the second book inthe Amish Country Courtship series written by Carrie Lighte. This such a heartwarming story of love, forgiveness, understanding, and faith. I enjoyed the storyline very much and it was a rocky journey for sure. It is the love between two Amish young people and their hope for the recovery of their memories.

Anna is a loving, forgiving, and thoughtful woman who has endured a horrible accident which has cost her the memory of the six months of her life. Fletcher, Anna's fiance, is so understanding but wants nothing more than for Anna to remember him. When others stick their noses in trouble ensues. This journey is very rough on Anna and if she doesn't get her memory back things could go very wrong. The characters in this story are very likeable and realistic. The author has done amazing job with her choices.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Congratulations to Carrie Lighte on writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy. I look forward to more from this author in the future.

Quick, cute read.

I enjoyed that it wasn't the typical Amish story. I loved that it pointed out character flaws and didn't portray that Amish are all perfect, but rather the humans that they are and capable of making mistakes.

Making new memories

Lovely story of the bride who can't remember the groom due to amnesia and the understanding doctor who says falling in love is a gift and falling in love with the same person twice is a blessing.

Good book. I figured when the note Fletcher mentioned that came from Anna that they needed to talk had to do with Aaron after it was nentioned a couple of times. I am enjoying the series. This is the second book in the series I have read.
