First sentence: This is our truck. It's flat in the front. This is me. My nose is as flat as the front of our truck. This is my friend. He calls me Pug. I'm Pug in a truck!

Premise/plot: This board book is narrated by a pug dog. His owner is a trucker. They travel the roads together hauling/delivering loads. The book is full of trucker lingo: double nickel, dragon wagon, keeping the shiny side up and the greasy side down, etc.

My thoughts: If you or your little one likes dogs, OR, trucks this is a fun little read to share together. I am thankful the author included a glossary of the trucker lingo. I had heard a few of the words before, but not nearly all of them!

We have read this book almost every night for nearly a year to our 22 month old son. He absolutely demands it. What could be better to a toddler boy than trucks and dogs in one book?! Highly recommend this one.

Loved this one. Pug rides in an 18 wheeler w/ his person and teaches us all about the trucker lingo and lifestyle.

This was the very first book I read in primary school. I fell in love with this book as a child, and it blossomed the love I have for pugs <3

My Review: Munchkin received this book for his birthday and we immediately had to read it. This one may not be for everyone but for a big truck loving little boy who comes from a family of truck drivers it was a perfect book. It is a little long for really little ones to sit through but older kids will enjoy it. There is a lot of "trucker lingo" in the book but it has a nice little glossary at the end to help clarify. It will definitely be a book that will bring together some generations in this family.

Despite the cute cover, I was definitely disappointed in this book. While I am sure many young boys would love it, as someone who doesn't really have any interest in trucking, I did not really enjoy it. For students that might be interested in what life is like for truck drivers, this book would be an excellent choice to provide the information that otherwise might not be available in a kid-friendly format. Even though it definitely wasn't my least favorite book and didn't interest me as much as I had hoped it would based on the cover, that just goes to show you really can't judge a book by its cover.

Contrary to popular belief I did not purchase this book because I own a pug. I did however read it because it's main character is one. My cousin is very familiar with my pug and I thought he might enjoy this book because of the pug - truck theme. He wasn't all that impressed. I guess because he is used to (trying to) chase my pug and the one in the book remains fairly stationary. I'm curious as to how he will react when I take Dogerella...

I enjoyed the artwork, but the story and the vocabulary was too complicated for young readers and it is too boring for older readers.

My 2 year old nephew thinks that this is a masterpiece, a dog, trucks, more trucks, brilliant. He gives it five stars.

Thanks, barking buddy. You helped everyone keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down.

This was the boys' favorite because it had different trucks and a dog. The slang for trucking terms was fun and the glossary helped in the back.

Pugs are delightful and quirky -- this book is neither.

The text is awkward and clunky, and the illustrations are kind of ugly.
