An okay look at what can be holding you back from doing what you want (spoiler-it's fear). It's kind of like reading a therapy/life-coach seminar. A bit redundant, but lots to hear if you're in the right place. Not the best I've read, but also not the worst. And it's quick and genuine. I'd say worth it if you're looking for this type of advice.

Not a bad book

This is a helpful book with a lot of valid points. However, I couldn't give it any more stars due to the poor proofreading. As this is my profession, so many glaring mistakes in a published piece are a big pet peeve of mine.

She's got a bit of a manic vibe but it's a good book, and you can feel how much she cares.

This book is 100 pages of nothing. The very sparse attempts at giving actual advice are essentially variations of "just do what makes you happy". There's no substance.

This book in one sentence:
"Be selfish enough to take care of yourself, and find something you love and keep doing it."
There, now you don't have to read it.

I found this little book in the library and was immediately drawn to its title. Sara did, in fact, offer great tidbits of advice that I am eager to apply to my own life. Ideas that resonated with me: becoming a “yes man” and accepting all that comes my way, seeking rejection in order to brave against it and carve a path for myself, going after what I want regardless of other’s opinions, writing down my problems so that I can get clear on what I want to break free from, and ultimately not being afraid to create a life I want. I’m feeling inspired!

I do wish there were more exercises and clear messages to help figure out what we want to do. Example: “If you enjoy being social, seek a job out on the field.” I think many people who pick up this book genuinely don’t know who they want to be. For me, I’m teetering between becoming an English teacher, a life coach, maybe a therapist, stay in marketing and find a full-time copywriting job, or keep making freelance work. OR, a combination of all of it. And maybe even becoming a full-time author! While this book inspired me, it did not help me get clear on what I want. It comforted me in knowing that that’s OKAY, but I wish it had laid out the guardrails for me. Perhaps I expected too much.

Also, MAN do I wish I had edited this book. The lack of commas was infuriating and sometimes sentences were just… missing words?

This all being said, I’m rating this book 4 stars because it was 100 pages and served as a sweet little snack for a strange time in my life. Sara Kravitz is very charismatic and I had a lovely time getting to know her story, which mirrored mine quite similarly.

This book was barely even “okay.” It felt like I was reading a paper I would have written in high school. It was like reading the same thing over and over again, just worded a little differently. Was very hard to get through.

I will say, some of the points she was trying to make were fine. They made me think, which was good. However, the vast majority of things she said felt repetitive and boring, and maybe even a little offensive.

Would not recommend this book to others.

It's ok. Kind of like a kickoff on how to follow your intuition. Pretty basic but written in an easy going, enjoyable fashion.
