Cassie wakes up on her sixteenth birthday only to realize she's been floating in her sleep. With her brother's help, Cassie learns how to control her new flying power, but she's afraid people will think differently of her if they find out. She's willing to do anything to keep her secret--practicing in the middle of the night, lying to her parents, even blowing off friends. But when a friend is in danger, Cassie must decide whether or not to help, even if taking action means revealing her secret.
Definitely middle school level despite 16yo protagonist. Read like she was 11-12. Hmmm. 2.5 stars. Didn't hate it but wouldn't recommend it to anyone over 10.
I read this book with my daughters and it was okay, although my girls (who are more around the book's audience) seemed to enjoy it a bit more than me - so this is why it gets an extra star.
Superhuman: Take to the Skies is about a girl called Cassie who finds herself with the power to fly. With her younger brother's help, she manages to control her powers and then uses her power of flight to do good in the world.
What I didn't like with this book was that it was too straightforward. The only real complication in the book comes in the form of a school assignment, which is cleared up fairly easily.
I like my books with a few more twists and turns, even if it is for the younger audience.
3.5 Cassie wakes up on her 16th birthday and finds she is floating above her bed. With the help of her little brother she learns to control her new found flying power. Yep she turns out to be a “Super Hero”.
Cute story and reminds me of my youth and how I wanted to be “Wonder Girl!” I also wanted to be a great singer. Well I am not a great or even a good singer but not too bad at dancing. So my super power is my love of dance. Actually I have a theory on singing and dancing ~ that is only a few can do both most of us it is one or the other!!
The entire book took 30 minutes to listen to. The premise was good but elements were missing that could have made the story better. I’m not a book critic so I won’t even attempt that.
Lacking the detail and the description that transport the reader into the book. It is like the author started out to write a book with only the extreme minimum.
