This wealth-building resource provides essential information on index funds; expert advice on how to start investing; and winning strategies for high returns with low risk. The Second Edition of All About Index Funds
As the title suggests, this book is all about index funds. It explains the history of index funds and ETFs, how they work, and why they're more effective than most actively managed mutual funds.
Most of the book is devoted to spelling out many index funds and ETFs on the market at time of publication. This part was disappointing. It seemed unnecessary and overly detailed. At the rate that the index fund market is growing, it was probably outdated by the time it was published. All the details you need are all available for free online, from several thorough and well-organized websites. It would have been better if the book had devoted this section to how to find index funds and ETFs, and what to look for in them.
The last section talks about asset allocation, taxes, risk, and the logistics of managing a portfolio. This was basically just a short version of his book, All About Asset Allocation.
Interesting book for those interested in the more technical side of how index mutual funds work or are constructed. However, the book is LOADED with typos, some of which actually change the meaning of what was said. This makes the book only recommended to those who have a very strong foundation in understanding passive investing, tax efficiency, and finance. A shame that it wasn't better edited.
While there is a lot of good information in this book, the middle section ends up being a long list of various indexes offered by different companies, which (I presume) dates the book somewhat, and definitely gets tedious. The tail end of the book ends with a lot of discussion about asset allocation strategies.
Ferrin teos on hyvä johdanto indeksisijoittamisen perusteisiin. Sijoituskirja on jaettu kolmeen osaan: Ensimmäinen osa on perusjohdanto aiheeseen.
Indekseihin sijoittamisesta kiinnostuneille kirja antaa melko hyvät perustiedot erilaisista mahdollisuuksista.
