A SEAL Romance Novel

WOW! This book was crazy suspenseful and insanely sexy! From the first page I was hooked and immediately loved this story…”

He wants her off his base . . . and in his bed.
The last thing Senior Officer Gabe Wilcox wants on his base is some CIA agent snooping around except when it turns out to be Agent Lucia Rizzo with her smart mouth, killer curves, and legs he can't wait to have wrapped around his waist. She should be off limits . . . but then, Gabe didn’t become a Navy SEAL by backing down. He’ll help Lucia with her investigation—and show her his commands will be far more pleasurable behind closed doors.

She’s there to work . . . not fall for the rock-solid senior officer in charge.
Agent Lucia Rizzo has spent her entire career with a singular objective—become the very best the CIA has to offer. There’s just one last mission standing in her way: uncover a traitor within the SEALs and recruit the sexy-as-hell SEAL, Gabe Wilcox. From the moment she arrives on base, Gabe, with his cocky grin and cute as hell dimples, proves he’s the undeniable distraction she never saw coming.
As the investigation heats up, and truths become lies, Gabe and Lucia must work together to answer the only question that matters: When everyone’s lying, and lives are at stake, can they even trust each other?

A Covert Affair is a stand-alone military romantic suspense with a take-no-prisoners CIA Agent and the Navy SEAL who brings her to her knees.

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
So color me impressed because this book was all kinds of fantastic. It probably would have been a 5-Star book if it hadn't been SO long. My interest started to wane at about 60% in. That said, I kept plugging on and it started to pick up again around 80%. The writing was fantastic though. The pace was a bit up and down. I am chalking that up to it being a bit too long. I think the author could have tightened up the story a bit. The plot was super engaging and probably one of the best examples of romantic suspense done right. The story is told from both Lucia's and Gabe's POV (my preference always). Last, it was all wrapped up in a very satisfactory ending.

~HERO~
GABE...What can I say about Gabe? I ADORED him. He was pretty much a perfect book boyfriend. A smokin' hot Navy Seal. A player (but it's not thrown in your face). He was alpha. He was sweet. He was funny. He was a great friend. He was an excellent leader. He was all about Lucia from the moment he meets her. I have nothing bad to say about his character.

~HEROINE~
LUCIA...I'll be honest, I usually struggle with heroines like Lucia. She attended West Point. She was in the army. She is now a CIA agent. She was tough. She was strong. She was feisty. She was bada$$. But somehow this author managed to also make her very likable. Very relatable. Even vulnerable. I simply adored her character as well.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
This book had some great secondary characters in it. My favorite by FAR was Tony (Flakes). He was such a douche especially in the beginning, but man the banter between him and Lucia and him and Gabe made me laugh my a$$ off at times. I wasn't sure I wanted to read a book featuring him (he pretty much cheats on his wife all the time) but the author redeemed him by the end and now I am looking forward to seeing him fall in love (hopefully he is getting a book). I also really liked Luce's friend Brook and there were a few of the guys on the Seal team I wouldn't mind reading more about.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Medium. The sex scenes were suitably hot and fairly plentiful. This couple also had excellent on-page chemistry.

~ANGST LEVEL~
Highish... I found this angsty mainly because Lucia is keeping a secret from Gabe and I spent the entire book waiting for the truth to come out and the other shoe to drop. When it did finally drop I was impressed by how the author handled the situation. I was expecting the usual cliché reaction by the hero and that isn't what we get. There is a smidge of OW drama. Toni tries to cause issues between Gabe and Luce and invites some women to join them at a bar. One of them hangs off Gabe all night. He isn't really interested but stays and ends up dropping the two women and Toni off later in the night (the three being drunk). The heroine sees this because Toni sets it up. She isn't overly bothered by it and it happens before they officially begin a relationship. I wasn't bothered by it in the least because we get Gabe's thoughts. There is also a bit of OM drama in the form of Tony. Lucia and he slept together once ten years prior, and she ghosted him. He is a bit bitter about this for a while.

~IN THE END~
I pretty much LOVED this book. Like I mentioned had it been a little shorter I would have given it 5-Stars. That said, the writing was fantastic. The plot was well developed. The characters were intriguing and very likable. There were twist and turns that kept me guessing right up until the end, and I appreciated the author didn't go down the usual overdone route with the secret revelation. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up and I will undoubtedly be keeping my eyes peeled for the next book in the series.description

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the SEALs and CIA series. I loved the characters in this book series so much, and I am so glad I picked it up. You really great to know the characters in this book, and the main character is a really bad a** woman which is so great. The romance in this book is so hot and fast moving, but you could just feel the chemistry between both these characters. The suspense was great, but I did figure out who was behind sold the Seals out before it was revealed. Even though I guessed right the reveal was just so great. I loved this book so much, and Kennedy L. Mitchell has became one of my favorite author's I cannot wait for her new book to come out.

Starts off flat and weird, but it quickly picks up when she moves on the NAVY assignment.

I’m into the book until the big bad CIA FMC tries to DROWN a NAVY SEAL, and she can’t f’ing swim. Wtf kinda stupid is that?

For someone in the CIA, she makes some stupid moves… losing almost every altercation, telling suspects that they’re suspects, getting caught off-guard at her own home, stakeout gone wrong, cover blown, caught up in lies, missing the obvious bad guy, getting kidnapped, etc etc etc. If she’s an empath, I’m Santa.

Of course, the ineptitude is blamed on the FMC being forgetful ~ Huh, ehh? Wtf kind of CIA agent is so forgetful that they go weeks without asking about someone who overwhelmingly gives them the “creeps?”

The whole “she’s a drug” line is overused.

The FMC being the “most beautiful” woman according to every man in the book is overdone. Cringe.

Being called fat seemed forced, especially considering men everywhere stop what they’re doing just to call “dibs” on her. Eye roll.

Even the way she eats is OTT for the sake of being OTT.

Despite all the above, the overall plot and romance COULD have been good. It’s heated and has enough going on to always keep you interested.

The end, though, was rushed and not really realistic. That’s just not how the CIA does shit lol and not how SEAL operatives speak to their CO. The airplane thing would’ve landed them in MP cuffs. I was really disappointed that a great suspense was wrapped up with unbelievable like all that:(

The author also failed to wrap up the sideline stories… such as Matt and the Russians.

Really can’t offer this more than two stars.

3 Stars!

So many times I wanted to Dnf this book, mainly at the beginning. There was a good amount of wrong with everything. The characters are supposed to be super smart, but they aren't really, especially the heroine who had suspicions about who the mole turned out to be, but literally only investigated everyone but him. Literally like every character was super cocky talking or thinking about themselves, not confident, just annoyingly cocky, including the heroine. Their thoughts were also super cheesy and sometimes cringey, it felt at times it was actually a horny male author writing this with how many times the heroine's "huge tits" were talked about and how he didn't want a "flat" woman pretty much. I also didn't care for how the heroine is played out to have a very female body, but masculine from the way she talks about relationships, to her eating foods that I guess are more "manly" like hamburgers and fries, because apparently women only eat salads, ha. There was some grammar and spelling errors, and some things glossed over a little much it felt confusing. There is probably a lot more I'm missing, and normally I would rate a book like this maybe a two star, BUT despite everything i mentioned i actually enjoyed it overall.

I just needed a light easy read, with some humor, and that is what I got. Nothing made me angry or too annoyed, and the MCs were actually cute together. So even though this was not the best book, I'm glad I read and enjoyed it (most of the time). Also, despite the book's mistakes, if the author writes more lighthearted books like this, I will for sure check them out.

I think I'm in a bit of a book slump as nothing much is exciting me right now. I liked this book but I didn't love it. The characters had insta lust and were touching each other within the first hour they met. I liked both the h and the H and generally didn't have any issue with either. The h had a pretty strong character and the H wasn't an a-hole type which was a bit refreshing. The mystery of the mole was not a mystery, the author pretty much gave it away as soon as the character was introduced. After the h was touted as a expert in her area and talked up so much it was annoying that she didn't see who it was as it was obvious. 3.5

Sexy, suspenseful and full of surprises…

If there is a line for a new book by this author you know I will be in it! This military suspense romance was a departure from her previous books but included all the drama, humour and sexiness I craved… If you are a lover of hot military men, a windy who-dun-it and scorching romance then you have found the right place!

Lucia is all about the career, focused from a young age, knowing that the CIA was the brass ring. This assignment was the one. The one that was going to see her reach the next rung in her climb within the organization and she could almost taste success.

“Pretty sure I didn’t ask. This is my op not yours. You’re just around for some eye candy, sweetheart.”

While she could have been all about the job, in reality, she was human and could be blind-sided like anyone. And Gabe came right out of left field…

“To be with a guy who I’m not scared will topple over if I hang on them like a koala...” (Dating goals, sister!)

Gabe was skilled and smart in his chosen military field, feeling he was right where he needed, and wanted, to be. He was going to help Lucia find their mole but didn’t realize she was going to pose the most danger…

Bahahahaha:
“You cook, you know your way around a firearm, you read fucking minds, is there anything you don’t do Luce?”
“Yeah, anal.”

Luce was a hot head despite her cool façade and Gabe had emotional depths he hadn’t even realized himself! Together, they were a powerhouse that made me smile and laugh through old baggage, hidden agendas and a threat that was not going away. I need to read this story again as I wait impatiently for the next read by this ‘hidden gem’ author!

Lucia Rizzo is one of the CIA's top agents. She has a special talent of reading people's body language and thoughts. Her stateside mission is to go undercover to uncover a mole within the S.E.A.L.S., water mammals. She will be working alongside a previous obsessed one night stand and his best friend. She despises men that suggest how she made it to the top or sexual comments they make, especially if they value their jewels.

Tony aka Flakes has a traitor in his platoon. He is determined to find out who the mole is and is furious that Lucia has been assigned to help. He warns his best friend that she is an addiction and uses men then throws them away. What secrets is he hiding?

Gabe is blown away when he meets the fiesty, sassy mouth Lucia. Independent, tough and a temper!

Evil lurks in the shadows as Lucia gets closer to revealing who the mole is which puts her in danger more than once.

The banter and the jealousy between these two alpha males is hilarious and Lucia's smart mouth is just what they need to balance out. At 47% I was laughing in tears. A good ten minutes before I could recover to finish reading this marvelous book.

Kennedy L. Mitchell has written an incredible romantic mystery with a touch of humour. Everyone is a suspect. You will fall in love with the characters. I would definitely recommend Covert Affair.

Kennedy L Mitchell has done it again and kept me riveted to the pages of this romantic suspense! It is everything I love in this genre - a witty and smart hero and heroine, a unique and fast-paced storyline and chemistry and steam that is undeniable!

I fell hard for the alpha Navy SEAL and his protective/possessive nature, and loved the sassy and smart heroine, Lucia, from the CIA. The twists and turns kept me guessing, and their relationship was one I cheered for from beginning to end!

Well done once again KL Mitchell!

Lucia Rizzo is a CIA agent who is going undercover to discover the identity of a mole who is sabotaging missions of a SEAL team. The team that is being sabotaged is headed up by someone Lucia had a brief relationship with in the past, Tony Hackenbreg.
Gabe Wilcox is a Navy SEAL and Tony’s best friend. The moment he meets Lucia he is instantly attracted to her and knows he needs to help her discover who the mole is. He aids her in her undercover position as a journalist writing on SEALS.
As Lucia gets closer to discovering who the mole is will she learn other secrets? Will Lucia discover the truth in time and succeed in her mission? Can she also find time to discover love and see what she has been missing before it’s too late?
This was a great mystery/romance that had me gripped from the moment the book began to the last page.
I loved Lucia’s character as she was tough and ready to do whatever she could to succeed in her mission and discover who the mole is. I love that she narrowed it down and then dug deeper to see what certain SEALS were hiding. I loved the varying degrees of what the men were hiding and there were quite a few big surprises.
Gabe was awesome and I loved how bossy he could be in certain instances! He was so torn between how he felt about Lucia and then letting other people, like Tony, mess with his mind that almost caused him to lose what he had several times.
The twists and turns were great and I managed to figure out things before they were revealed but I was not disappointed in the least as I loved how it all went down. I was so mad at Jeremy for some of the things he said, especially near the end of the book.
Such a great read and I look forward to more from this author!!- By Rebecca

Wow!! This book was fantastic! I don’t always love books about the CIA or about SEALS, but this one exceeded my expectations. Lucia is a CIA agent who has been tasked with finding a mole within a SEAL team. Their missions have been sabotaged and Gabe is the SEAL who has been assigned to help her.

Lucia is badass!! She is strong, independent and can defend herself against almost any situation. She’s also smart and is called a witch because she can read people so well. She is woman; hear her roar! She also allows herself to be vulnerable with Gabe and to show a softer side of herself to him.

Gabe is also pretty badass. As a Navy SEAL, he’s prepared to defend himself and others. He’s protective of Lucia, but he also allows her to fight her own battles. He revels in her intelligence and abilities. He never makes her feel less than because she’s a woman. He treats her as an equal and that was so refreshing.

These two together were HOT! Their chemistry was explosive and the tenderness between them was beautiful. They truly understood each other and had the other’s back. They brought out the best in each other and were a great team.

I highly recommend this book. It was well written with an intriguing plot that had unexpected twists and turns. The character development was superb and the romance flowed well. If you like romance, danger, and smart and passionate characters, this book is for you.

I love a good military story from time to time and this one did not disappoint! The story flowed nicely and pulled me in immediately!

Lucia is a strong, independent woman working for the CIA with unique and special gifts; which means she can take care of herself. She’s sent into a SEAL platoon to find out who is ambushing missions. Gabe, the hot, overprotective SEAL can’t deny or shut down his attraction to this woman that was sent to help find the traitor.

I really liked Lucia and how she was written as a strong and independent woman. Often in military romance stories, it’s a hero going in to save the heroine. That is not the case with this story and I was truly excited about that. It was a great blend of suspense and sexy with just the right amount of humor thrown into the mix. There is a great balance between all these elements.

The prologue still had me a little confused with how it fitted into the story as a whole, but overall it was a good read! This is my first read by Kennedy Mitchell and it will not be my last.

This book, is honestly not really what I was expecting. Though I'm not really sure what I was expecting. I loved all of the undercover buisness. And how she just got right in there and it was just one of her things to figure all these people out. And it really didn't take her long at all for what she needed to do. She is so good at what she does, but really you are kind of kept guessing at what it is that she really is doing.
The writing in this book is honestly just wonderful and for how in-depth it is its really easy to go with the flow amd follow along with. I really enjoyed both characters sides and POVs.
The book is serious a lot, but the wit is amazing. The way it comes out is just hilarious and you totally are not expecting it to be as funny as it is. But I adored the side jokes and jabs that were taken!

Kennedy knows what she is doing when she writes these romantic suspense books. She is one of my top favorite on this genre. She just knows how to write just the amount of action, mystery, romance, and who done it. She writes the characters with passion. They are always so entertaining and easy to read. Their chemistry is always spot on. So you know when you start reading a Kennedy L Mitchell story, you are in for a good one.

A Lot happens here so pay close attention. I was very entertained with Lucia and her detective skills. This was just so entertaining. The banter between Gabe and his friends put a smile on face more than once.

This was a great read and I know that you would enjoy it. I would highly recommend A Covert Affair.

Now this one was more than up my alley in what I love to read. This author took my temptations to the extreme adding a touch of mystic with it in Lucia's abilities. But then it is also a would seem second chance which I seem to read a few lately. The one she needs on her side is finding a mole but she also crosses paths with Gabe. Steam does rise when then come in contact but oh just one part of this one. Danger and questions run in this one with Seals a plenty. The suspense will raise its own steam too with you following every tidbit thrown your way. Wrap this one up and can be used for chasing any blues away.

Read the book thanks to a gorgeous new cover and boy am I glad that I did.
I know authors grow by each book they put out, but wow, even a few years old, this book was just as epic as the books the author is currently releasing.
I don't think she could write a bad book even if she tried!!
Like all her other books, the characters and plot will draw you in from cover to cover and refuse to let you go.
I know this was a standalone but hope the author decides to bring them back to life in the future.
Definitely a must read!!!

Special gifts can make you valuable. But when there are people who would use those abilities for their own gain with little thought to the holder of that gift it should become clear that there needs to be a change. Except things aren't always that simple. Lucia is unique, fierce, and committed. She's also very tired. When her next assignment is received it dangles the possible rewards that would mean the promotion she has worked so hard for, a little breather from her constant travels, and the change she so desperately yearns for. But only if she's successful. Her mission is to find a mole and recruit a SEAL to her agency. If only things were that simple. Standing in her way is a mole that doesn't want to be revealed, two SEAL teams full of individual secrets, a one-night-stand from over a decade ago with a seriously bad attitude, and one super hot SEAL that makes her think that maybe there's more to life than back-to-back missions and attempting to break through the glass ceiling.

I really loved Lucia. Not only her ability, but the wisdom she used to wield it was impressive. She tempers her gift with understanding, seeking out facts, and tenacity. She's very good at her job. The ability to handle herself and emotionally rely on her friend back home make me even more impressed. If she were really the hard-ass that can see only herself and what needs to be done to advance her career she wouldn't be so torn between her head and her heart throughout this mission. Her vulnerability is there too showing that she's still human even if she has the SEAL-sized cojones of the men she's currently working with. And with the way she thinks quickly in the heat of the moment too? She's ballsy, smart, sexy, competent, funny, and even a little soft for the right people. From the beginning she was this great and I was wonderfully surprised that she continued to grow throughout the story. There were moments where she got distracted and became confused about what she should do, lost sight of all the players she should be paying attention to, and overwhelmed by the secrets and pressures of the job, but despite all that she came out on top, still fighting for herself and the person she grew to love.

Gabe was all man right from the beginning. I liked him right from the start. Tired of all the things that come easily to him and stressed with family situations, he's at the precipice of change. But what will tip him over the edge, what will set him on the course for his own forever? That's currently unknown. Only after he meets Lucia does he feel something immense is going to happen if he has the courage to reach for it and the tenacity to encourage her do the same. The care and concern he had for her was sweet, his ability to understand her gave him insight when she was emotionally vulnerable. He really cared for her and it showed in virtually everything he did. Despite the misunderstandings in the beginning and the one high-intensity moment of confrontation, his commitment to her was awesome. He also found a vulnerability within himself that was two-fold. By ignoring the pain and frustration from his home life he was keeping himself from being all-in emotionally with Lucia. Through his softening and gravitating toward Lucia he was able to confront his feelings regarding his parents. Once he made peace with both things he found his center. And when she was threatened, his world almost fell apart. His reliance on friends and his team gave him the strength to fight for her and get her back.

Lucia and Gabe were honestly such a great couple. They provided a balance for one another's ambitions and hearts. They could encourage each other and truly understand what their jobs entailed, something that neither ever believed was possible. Not to mention the passion...seriously hot together. As for the story itself, I thought it flowed pretty well. The progression was steady until it all came to a head. There were a couple bits that were far more dramatic than I could have expected. I enjoyed getting to know a few of the SEALs beyond Tony and Gabe. And despite Tony's history with Lucia I liked how he eventually came around, that he sorted some things out for himself. This is a standalone story but I sure wouldn't mind finding out about the woman that trips Tony's world off its womanizing axis.

CÍA agent Lucia Rizzo has a new mission: to infiltrate as a journalist to find out who is the mole that is leaking information about the SEAL’s operations. Her greatest weapon is her ability to read people. She will work side by side with her ex Tony Hackenbreg and with Officer Gabe Wilcox, whom she will have to recruit at the end of the mission to go work with the CIA. Her ex is not happy when he sees her, he is still resentful of what happened 10 years ago when she left him and he doesn’t hesitate to warn Gabe to stay away from her. But Gabe is incapable, no woman had attracted him as much as she: strong, brave, with temperament, hard to get and a body that constantly distracts him.
These 3 with the “help” of the CIA will have to investigate Tony’s platoon, since this has been the one that has failed recently in their missions. Lucia will investigate them one by one, discovering their most intimate secrets, while letting herself be carried away by the pleasure and passion she finds in Gabe’s arms.
Lucia is a real badass, I love to see female characters as strong as she is,who gets these hard SEALs to pee in their pants every time she gets mad. To give an example, she throws a SEAL into the pool and tries to drown him without knowing how to swim bc he did nothing but disrespect and treat her like a piece of meat.👏👏👏👏😂😂😂

“If you can really read my thoughts, how in the hell do you feel comfortable in the same room with me after all the things I fantasized about when you opened that damn door in only a towel looking like every man’s wet dream? I think you’re trouble but the kind of trouble I’ve been looking for. Been waiting for. I think you’re one hell of a woman who has no idea what she’s getting into with this operation, surrounded by men, married and single, who will kill their brother to have a shot at you. I think if I’m going to be true to my friend I need to leave now because I can’t get the image of you in that damn towel out of my fucking mind.”“This can’t happen, Gabe. Too many things are on the line for us to give in. We can’t and won’t happen.” His hands slide back down my thighs and drop from my knee. “The next few weeks are going to be interesting, Lucia. Let’s hope at least one of us is thinking straight when we’re together. If we’re both feeling the way I am right now at the same time, we’re in deep shit.”

Right now there’s this pull to get back to her, to see her. Hell, what am I saying. This is just about sex. I’m craving to get back to her for sex. Yep, fucking her, that’s the only reason I need to see her right now. Not because when she climbed out of the Jeep earlier there was no fire in her goodbye, no happiness in her small smile. Nope, nothing to do with comforting her. Just sex. I’m lying to myself if I think this is only about sex. Hell was it ever just about sex? From the moment we met, yes, I wanted to have her but the more I’m around her that’s not enough. I want all of her and fuck if I know why, but I want her to want all of me too. I’m hooked.

“Listen here, Luce. I know what you’re doing. You’re using what you have to get the objective met, simple as that. But just know I hate how he’s looking at you, fuck, I hate it. Staring at those tits I’ve kissed and sucked on, making you fucking squirm beneath me. He wants to get under that sexy as hell dress you’re wearing, wants to pull it up and fuck you senseless but he can’t because I will. I’m the one who makes you scream. My name is the one you moan when my face is between your thighs. If it were you and me right now, I’d scoot your chair over to mine so I could touch you. I’d start at your knee and work my fingers up your thigh but this time you wouldn’t stop me. Would you? With each inch I move up your skirt bunches in your lap, making you nervous, but I’m watching, don’t worry sweetheart no one will see me as I move aside that black thong I’ve already pulled off you once tonight and stroke up and down, giving you a little tease of what’s to come tonight—”

“Stop it with that shit. For the first time, Luce, I was in battle and all I could think about was making sure I came home. Came home to see you one more time. To kiss you one last time. To hear you fucking laugh or put me in my place one last time. With each bullet I fired, every man I took out I knew I was one step closer to coming home. Just tell me we can make it work,” he whispers into my hair. “That I don’t have to be dreading these next few days because they are our last.” Deep breath in. I can do this. “Yeah, Gabe. We’ll figure it out,”

“Yeah, well, setting off a grenade, getting run down by that jackass, getting taken by a bunch of asshole terrorists, then waiting around in a shitty holding cell for you water mammals to finally make your glorious appearance, I think I was allowed a quick nap, don’t you?” “Damn, woman,” says a voice I recognize but can’t place immediately. “I’m just glad we all know the truth. I don’t feel like such a damn pussy anymore, knowing it wasn’t just any ol’ civilian broad who nearly drowned me. Fuck, with you surviving the past forty-eight hours, I should be glad you didn’t off me that day.”

Covert Affair is Navy SEAL Senior Officer Gabe Wilcox and CIA Agent Lucia Rizzo coming together to uncover a mole among the former’s ranks.

Synopsis:
Lucia Rizzo is CIA and on a mission to identify rogue agent(s). But she’s suddenly called back to base where a bigger assignment is waiting for her.

Gabriel Wilcox is smitten with his new coworker, even though it rankles him that one of his team members might be a traitor. He can’t help but be fixated on her since she set foot on their home turf.

While work is important, they both feel that their mutual attraction might just be the beginning of something new in their lives…

Review:
At thirty-four, Lucia is tired of the ops she’s being given and wants a break or a change in her routine. But just when she thinks of going on one, after her current assignment is over, she’s reassigned. And holy smokes, ain’t there a different level of scorching hot somebody whom she totally doesn’t want to be interested in on the other end.

I loved reading Covert Affairs and somehow knew that reading a Kennedy L. Mitchell can never be less than combustible. Especially when the author brings in a Miss Congeniality twist.

Also, it was the first time that I read about such a scenario where a clingy ex of the female protagonist and the male protagonist are best friends, and the former is all for sabotaging their budding attraction, which was kind of a balm to my feminist soul, about how men can sometimes be jealous pieces of shit too.

Anyway, the way the author builds up anticipation, yet takes it slow and sweet, is just too good. I love the way Mitchell writes her female protagonists, with those sassy mouths and badass brains. The perfect combo of vulnerable and resilient…

Gabe is thirty-six and the way they click instantly, it’s amazing; it’s pure chemistry right there. Especially their insta-messaging, which is as funny as it is flirty.

Gabe and Luce are the “it” couple for me. Narrated in the first person from both points of view, it’s pretty much fun and games and knowing and being with each other till it’s showtime. And that is when danger creeps in from all fronts. The best thing is that it still doesn’t end. Both the danger and the story!

There’s more to it than meets the eye, but I was able to guess the mole from the beginning, so…yeah. anyways, it was a damn thrilling read and I enjoyed every minute of it. And to top it off, it had a sweet and crazy epilogue perfectly suited to them both. Gabe and Luce together, forever.

This is a wonderfully written book with an exciting storyline that would have you turning page after page to see what happens next and just who the bad guy is. I had a little problem with the story dragging a bit in places, but overall it was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that the female character was so strong and didn't really need to have a man protect her, even if the man was a hot as sin Navy Seal and he definitely wanted to protect her. But she is CIA after-all and she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She also has a special talent that makes her job with the CIA even more important...to them! Nothing like a strong woman meeting up with an equally strong man to make a story POP! Filled with intrigue, action, laughter, heat and suspense this book has it all.

The characters were written well and each complex in their own way, with secrets yet to be told...however they will be told. There are so many interesting secondary characters in this book and we get to delve a little further into each of them as Lucia's investigation moves further. But it is Lucia and Gabe that there the lead couple in this book and as I said before, Lucia is a strong, beautiful, woman who is smart, sassy and gives as good as she gets. Love her! Gabe is the Seal who is assigned to be her escort on the base and is as good as they get. He's strong, hot, handsome and dominate, although that only works in the bedroom with Lucia. He is also the one that the CIA wants Lucia to bring into the agency, but he doesn't know that yet. The attraction between the two is instant, but Lucia has a rule about mixing business with pleasure, one that Gabe thinks is a stupid rule. But the angst is simmering so close below the surface with these two and the banter not only between the two of them, but between Tony (Gabe's best friend and Lucia's one night stand from years ago...yea, that is interesting too.) and Gabe is funny and sometimes tense. But together, the three of them have a job to do and that is to find the mole amongst the SEALS. It is not easy, because at this point, everyone is suspect, even Tony.

This book will have you trying to guess who is the traitor and changing your mind every step of the way. You think you know, but the suspicions keep changing and you doubt your first choice, second choice and maybe even your third choice. It really is a great story and one that I am sure you would enjoy. I do recommend this book.

If you like your heroines to be a badass and your hero to be smokin hot, then this is the perfect story for you.

Lucia Rizzo is one on the CIA’s top agents. She has a special ability of reading people’s body language and thoughts. Due to this ability she assign a mission to go undercover within the S.E.A.L’s and fish out their mole.

Enter, Sr. Officer Gabe Wilcox, one of the seals assign to assist Lucia’s investigation.

Throughout the investigation Lucia has battle her attraction to Gabe. It certainly doesn’t help that his best friend was a one-night stand from 10 years ago, and Tony carries a grudge.

I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense in the story, the ups and downs help to build the tension. I must admit that I kind of had an idea of who the mole was, but this certainly didn’t take anything away from the story. It was interesting to see where the author took the characters.

I think one of the reason I enjoyed this story, was the Lucia’s character. Kennedy was able to write about a strong beautiful woman who is coming out on top in a male lead industry. Lucia attended West Point, she was in the Army and is now a leading agent in the CIA. Although she comes across as a badass, Kennedy has been able to make Lucia a relatable character. I adored Lucia.

Of course, Gabe wasn’t a difficult character to fall in love with as well. He is my current book boyfriend, but then most often hot Navy Seals are always on that list. He has the perfect mix of alpha-ness and sweetness. Doesn’t harm that he has a sense of humour and is there for Lucia from the moment they meet each other.

I have to a confession, I kind of liked Tony, Gabe’s best friend. Although he started off as a huge a-hole, towards the end of the book he redeemed himself. The reactions with Lucia and even Gabe offered us plenty of humour.

Kennedy L. Mitchell was written an incredible romantic story with just the right amount of humour and suspense. Be sure to check out this story, it’s a recommend of this blog.

Lucia is a force to be reckoned with and can certainly handle herself, some say she can read minds and this makes her an asset while working for the CIA . She has been on many of missions and never mixes business with pleasure. The latest mission could get her right to the top with a promised promotion if she succeeds in catching the mole that is working for the seals, information is being leaked and putting lives at risk, her other mission is to convince Gabe to leave the seals and join the CIA. Both missions are not an easy quest, especially when her past is there to make her job even harder and then there is Gabe...........

Gabe is loyal to the SEALS, its his life and he will do anything to protect them all. He is just as keen to find who the mole is and didn't expect the CIA member to be a hot looking woman who can certainly pack a punch ! Lucia puts a spin on his life completely, no one has ever affected him this way, his best friend Tony was right, she is a drug and Gabe has become an addict.

They need to find the mole and quickly before anyone else life is put at risk. The team have been narrowed down and just when Lucia thinks she has him things turn into a s**t storm !

Who is it, who can they trust and what secrets are about to be pulled out of the dark?!?

I absolutely loved Lucia and Gabe, their connection was instant and their chemistry is HOT HOT HOT. Hot alpha seal and a feisty, strong woman mixed in with danger and suspense, what more could you want. This was brilliantly written and 100% my kind of book. I love finding new authors and I will definitely be looking for more from Kennedy Mitchell.

Covert Affair has danger and romance around every corner. Not sure how they made it so jam packed with mystery and romance, but it worked so well together. One moment I'm stumped trying to figure out what these SEALS are hiding and the next I'd get lovey heart eyes when Gabe enters the room. Lucia is the "mind reader" of the CIA. She reads people so well and loved her job. Her next mission is to find a mole in a Navy SEALS group. Between a bitter ex, steaming chemistry, and working out who is a mole we are left with an amazing romantic suspense.

Lucia is a complete bad ass. Gabe is a bad ass. Together they are almost too much. One thing I love about Gabe is he helps Lucia see that she isn't just a CIA agent, she's a woman too. I loved them both so hard. The mystery side of this has me guessing who the bad guy was early on, yet had me second guessing myself throughout her investigation. The romance side is everything any one loves about romance. Sweet, sexy, hot, romantic. Gabe is every girls dream man, and Lucia fits him perfectly.

Covert Affairs was incredible. The writing has you guessing everything while also leaving you hot. The banter was funny. Lucia is a bad ass with a quick wit. Everything about this book will make you fall in love with romantic suspense all over again!

I loved everything about this book!! Everything!! It really had just enough amount of mystery, suspense, steaminess and love all around.

CIA Agent Lucia Rizzo is so bada$s!!! She is driven to succeed in everything she does. The next step in her career is a big promotion, and the only thing in her way is one last mission as a field agent. She needs to find a mole who’s selling info on a SEAL team, as well as recruit the leader of another SEAL team.

And that brings us to Officer Gabriel Wilcox. I just loved him. He loved his job, loved the rush it brought and lived for his missions. Until Lucia walks into his life and turns it all upside down.

There was a lot happening in this book, but I really loved it all. I loved Lucia on her undercover spying missions when she was trying to figure out who was the traitor by following the team members around and getting a surprise or two in the process. I also loved the banter between Gabe and his best friend.

All in all, this is a great read and you won’t regret reading it :)

Very enjoyable book. It’s well written with characters that are strong and very well defined. I love characters that are self reliant yet willing to give a Little too. Here we have a strong denial lead who is CIA and used to handling her own life/problems and a Navy Seal who is very not the Alpha and wants to protect our heroine even if she doesn’t necessarily want him too.

The storyline is very engaging. It will keep you on edge and have you turning page after page to see what happens next. While the twist and turns have rethinking things often. Lucia and Gabe, the main characters, and along with the supporting cast make for an interesting plot riddled with suspense, action and romance with a bit of humor thrown in.

I highly recommend reading A Covert Affair. The only downside I would mention (if you can even call it a downside) is in a few a spots the storyline drug a bit. But it in NO Way diminished my enjoyment of the book. 2 Thumbs Up for a great read.

A Covert Affair by is a must-read. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. I got a first craft a few months ago but I didn't get the chance to read the ending, and now that I received an ARC I finally got to read how this story ends. And I’m very HAPPY!
Lucia is one tough, strong, independent and stubborn woman but she definitely met her match in Gabe. I love the build-up and flow within the story and the chemistry between these two characters is out of this world.
This book is so suspenseful and you get thrown into the storyline right from the first page. Kennedy has an amazing ability to get you sucked into the story and before you know it, you’re at the end. I definitely need more from this group of characters. Can't wait to see what’s next. Make sure to buy A Covert Affair, it’s releasing March 29th❤️

Once I started reading this I could not put it down!!

CIA Agent Lucia is successful in her career, with no room in her life for anything else. Her next job could lead her to the promotion she wants so badly. Sent to find out who is leaking information on SEAL operations, her resolve falters when she meets SEAL Gabe. Their attraction is off the charts but is complicated by her past with his best friend. This whole situation is incredibly challenging for Lucia but she handles it with wit, grace, sass and strength. It causes her to relook at her priorities as she examines the motives of all involved, including her employers.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book. I loved Lucia's attitude and sass - it added so much to this book. I will be back for more from this author in the future.

5 badass, sexy stars!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This book has it all, and Kennedy L Mitchell has done it again! Romance. Intrigue. Suspense. Humor. S-E-X. As if that isn’t enough, A Covert Affair is full of the witty banter and texting that she’s becoming known for. You’ll be giggling as our feisty heroine, Lucia Rizzo and our sexy as hell navy Seal, Gabe Wilcox, drive each other crazy in more ways than one.

Lucia is a badass, mind reading CIA agent determined to out the mole that has infiltrated the Seals, earning herself a huge promotion in the process. Gabe is an equally badass, but conflicted, Seal and as Lucia’s liason to the teams he should keep his hands to himself…easier said than done!

Their chemistry is scorching, their banter is hilarious, the mystery is intriguing, and the suspense is nail biting….Download it today and see if you can put it down – I couldn’t!!
