Helping children learn about letters and letter sounds, this is an amazing first word and picture book.

For a first ABC book, this one was pretty interesting. It gave the words and pictures along side the words so it would be easy to connect words to objects for future reading. Something that stood out to me was on the A page, there was a picture of an abacus which I thought was funny since some adults do not know what that is.
One of my 13 month old daughter's current favorites. Colorful pictures that vary in recognition difficulty. For example "A" is for apple, but it is also for abacus. My daughter loves to "read" this one by herself.
Some of the pictures are a little weak, like potatoes, but all in all a solid ABC book.
This was truly one of our first books. We started reading with Danny when he was about 6 months old. It may be the reason he and his brother are obsessed with the alphabet. It has been read to ribbons, and it's two halves are held together by the thinnest slice of cardboard.
EL Skills - Print motivation, print awareness, & letter knowledge. Activities - Read & talk. Colorful pictures associated with letters will get children wrapped up in learning the names of the different things around them and what letters they start with.
This is the book that started Danny's obsession with the alphabet. It was a baby shower gift, and has since been read to rags. It's still hanging in there, but not for much longer.
I like this book because it teaches kids about each letter in the alphabet with multiple coordinating items. I had many books just like this when I was growing up and I loved reading them.
