The titles suggest that the book is meant to make students aware of the challenges in terms of limited resources that the humans face on this planet. However,in order to do justice to the title, the book must undergo regular and continuous revision as the research on environmental science has spiked in recent decades.

It follows the industrial era classification based pedagogy, rather it should have been written keeping in mind the complex interrelationship based systems approach. The systems approach can be better way to conceptualise the concepts like ecosystems in general.

As flawed as they are, I wish people took these books more seriously in school. In a not very surprising twist, our most well-educated bourgeoisie is the first one to sneer at the notion of respecting the environment. It is happy to act like it owns the environment but is equally swift to abandon any responsibility.
