An utterly charming Christian romance about the glorious and amazing journey of two friends who discover that they have fallen in love with each other...

He fights fires. She saves kids. Can they stop battling each other long enough to realize they want the same thing? Love, family...forever.

Social Worker Cammie Parkson regrets not yanking little Jayden from his home after logging concerns about the mother’s boyfriend. If her supervisor hadn’t vetoed her petition, Cammie wouldn’t be pacing the halls of Cherrydale Children’s Hospital alongside the too-hot fire captain who brought Jayden in, waiting for doctors to confirm the suspected abuse. Securing a safe environment for the boy is imperative, so why does Keegan insist on giving her grief? And why does his opinion matter so much…

Fire Captain Keegan Madison has witnessed his share of atrocities, but nothing ignites his ire more than child abuse. Even so, Keegan’s not sure the beautiful social worker’s plan to remove the kid from his home is best for the little dude. But Cammie’s ferocious, protective love for the kids at Cherrydale stirs something deep inside him. When she’s offered the opportunity to launch her program in another state, Keegan must convince the obstinate woman that staying is worth the wait, that love is worth the risk.

Keegan is a hero. He served his country and lost a best friend. Now he's a fire captain and trying to make life good for kids who have a rough time in life. Becoming a hero has been rough on him. Sleepless nights have kept him involved with multiple women, but it isn't until he spends time with Cammie that he realizes he wants more. And he wants real!

Cammie isn't interested in a player, but can't seem to stay away from Keegan.

In true Dora Heirs fashion, we get a good story about real life issues and the people faced with them. I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to more!!!

When a hardworking and dedicated social worker, and a handsome fire captain with a wounded heart, give in to their attraction, the sparks ignite. Both the primary and the secondary characters are well developed and make the reader long for the next book. The chemistry between Cammie and Keegan sizzles, but the obstacles they face make the reader wonder if they’ll ever have their happily ever after. This sweet romance will capture your heart from the start.

I loved this book. Reads very well. Characters are well developed. Continuity seems intact. The love story is fantastic. Moves nicely and I absolutely love the handling and resolution of the relationship challenges.

I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed are my own.

Romance, clean; hints at loose lifestyle of one of the characters; mild faith elements
This was a first read for me for this author. I will definitely look at her again. While the male MC had multiple failed relationships (not detailed) you definitely knew he slept around, so not a perfect read for those seeking truly clean reads. No detailed or explicit scenes however.
Cammie and Keegan's fall over years for both of them, was an interesting read. Keegan's change of heart as he realizes the extent of his feelings for Cammie was a poignant, reflective read for me, and his feelings changed him so much, that it was interesting to read this catharsis for him. The military background hinted out (no complete details re the loss of his friend) was an interesting back story for me. More of a 3.5 for me as a reader, some interesting twists and turns, and liked the side characters so rounded up.

The Attraction

Keegan, the Fire Chief or the Merriville Fire Department, has quite the reputation as a lady 's man. Commie, a beautiful Social Worker, has been extremely attracted to him for a long time, but stays far away from him until an injuried little boy is taken to the hospital because his Mother's boyfriend beat him badly. Commie hurries there to see Jayden, but also runs into Keegan there. At one time, Keegan even dated Shasta, Jayden's Mom. He didn't even know she had a son! He never stayed in a relationship with any of the gals who he dated. But he realized that if he was truly interested in Cammie, he would have to be different because she was not the same type of woman that he normally dated.Did he want to keep living the same way or did he want a "forever love"? He has to figure that out for himself. And what about Cammie? Should she take a chance on that handsome fireman who makes her heart pound?

This story is about Cammie who is a social worker. She is trying to get a program started
to help abused, neglected children as well as training the parents to be better parents and
providers.

Cammie's BFF is a fire fighter Nic, who marrying another fire fighter. Captain Keegan Madison
is standing in for Nic's father and Cammie is Nic's maid of honour.

Cammie has had a crush on the Captain for some time, but Keegan is not ready to be in an ongoing
relationship. He has issues that he is trying to forget - his mother leaving his Dad and him when
he was very young, one of his best friends that died while over seas with Keegan and the other Seals.

Cammie's boss is vetoing the program she wants to start, so she starts applying to other places where she might be able to get the program started.

The story evolves around these two characters, as well as the others members of the Fire Fighters and their spouses/girlfiuends.

Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

With a firefighter/paramedic in my immediate family I have a soft spot for firefighter stories. Add in children and I am totally hooked. I truly believe social workers dealing with children and child abuse have one of the toughest jobs in the world. Cammie Parkson walks that fine line trying to figure out what is in the best interest of the child, unfortunately only hindsight is 20/20. Fire Captain Keegan Madison believes he knows what is best for little Jayden, even more that Cammie. This belief put a big roadblock to any romance. I love the romance, the action and the Christian basis of this story.

Cammie is a amazing woman. She is always there to help the children when they needed her. Keegan is fighting his past live which causes him to have a bad reputation. When these two finally stop fighting their feelings for each other everything will change. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

Setting Fire to Love

Cam I and Keegan - Two people who always seem to bring sparks, not the good kind. Will they ever settle into a relationship or just remain fractious when around each other? Being a fire fighter and a very warm hearted man when it comes to those in need, especially young kids, he and Cammi run across each other often. Nik, a female firefighter, is a dear friend of Cammi. So, anytime Cammi visits the fire station she also sees Keegan, who is a big ladies man, someone who turns Cammi off. A beautiful story by Dora. Give her a try.

Nothing like a Fire Captain!

I enjoyed this story quite a bit! I am married to a Fire Captain, so much of the story rang true! The stress and the heartbreak on the job, the need to have someone to come home to. The camaraderie between the crew was special as well. I also understood Cammie’s worries and concerns- about her job, about him, and about the importance of helping others become stronger, better people.

Fully Involved, fully sweet

Cammie and Keegan bristle each other in the beginning, but oh how their kisses become sweet and heated. Definitely a sweet and clean romance, but with a little more heat than in most Christian fiction. And, I like that...real life, real romance. Keegan works through some tough issues of his past. Cammie steps out of some of her comfort to take a few risks. It all works out in the end. I'll definitely be looking for more by Dora Hiers.

The bloom of love

I really loved this story! Keegan and cammie were both very strong and a great couple first as good friends who suddenly seemed to unexpectedly fall in love and got married. But with some sad times in between when Sammie accepted a new job that took her away to virginia, which caused some heart aches for both of them . Love won in the end however and the lived a wonderful life together with their twin daughters !

The characters were really well done. The sharing of their backstories came organically, and their reactions fit those backgrounds. Theirs is a slow growing romance, when they finally decided to try for more-than-friends.

The bulk of the story is not overtly Christian, but there is a mention of going to church. At the end, though, there are praises to God.

And, I love that the cover looks like a street in Tuscany!

Fully Involved

Dora Hiers is a fairly “new to me” author I have been glad to have found. She tells wonderful Christian based stories. This particular book is about Cammie, a social worker, and Keegan, captain of the fire department and a womanizer. Cammie seems to captivate him. They become better acquainted through their common desire to help children. Can Cammie tame the womanizer or does she even want to try?

Very good book. Cammie didn't want to get her heart broken so she cautious with him but there was no reason to worry. All that playboy persona was just a facade, he really liked her but was afraid of her leaving him, so it was easier to not be with her at all. Keegan was sweet, he really cared for her and wanted more, he just wanted her to see him for him, and she did. I loved them, they were so good together

This was a wonderful beginning to this new series which is set in a fire station. The main characters were a firefighter who was battling his own personal wounds and a beautiful and compassionate social worker. Their romance was clean but still had a lot of sizzle and the story sometimes took turns that were unpredictable. I enjoyed it!

It was a cute story. There was not a lot of depth to the storyline, beyond good looks, beautiful people, but there was some good talk about the work that social workers do beyond just the poor viewpoint of CPS.

Loved Keegan and Cammie's story. Keegan was a player never giving a woman a chance until Cammie. Cammie didn't want to get involved with another player. She's been through it more then once. Something about Keegan draws her in.
Sweet clean romance.

Very good story, though a little over the top on chemistry. Well-written, not too many errors. Looking forward to the next installment.
