Megan McCoy arrives in New York City with more than just a couple of garage sale suitcases. She's got her talent, her determination, her first aid kit, and her goodwill toward her fellow humans. With an internship squared away at a well-established NYC literary agency, she's ready for success!
But it doesn't take Megan long to realize that making her dream come true might be a little trickier than she planned. For instance, her roommate Cassandra is a bit of a diva. Her internship isn't quite what she thought it would be. She quickly finds herself in the middle of a strange love triangle (or is it a trapezoid?). She even gets rejected from the church choir!
Can this Midwestern Mormon girl carve out a place for her life and her dreams in the Big Apple? Can she reconcile her generous nature to the demands of finding success in a highly competitive environment?
Enjoy Six Floors from Somewhere's quirky cast of characters. There's Megan's roommate Cassandra, a thirty-something stage performer who is always just one audition away from stardom. You'll meet Clay, a long, tall Texan with endless talent but not quite enough confidence. There's beautiful Ashley who worries about falling short of her parents' expectations even while she develops a pretty amazing business on the sly. And then, of course, there's Owen Clack, the loyal Columbia statistics major who steals Megan's heart as he putters around the city in his socks and sandals.
Through her adventures, Megan learns much more than her boss Julie anticipated teaching her. By the time her internship is over, Megan's life will never be the same.

I received a copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. A strong 3/5 stars for this lovely little book! This novel is short, sweet, cute and a hell of an enjoyable read from start to finish; as soon as I picked it up I was immersed in the story. The story follows Megan and her journey moving from Kansas to New York in hope to better herself and eventually acquire a paid publishing job. We get to see the highs and lows of her journey as she discovers how far away from home she really is and her exploring her new surroundings and friends. Her character development throughout the story is lovely to read as well as her new relationships building. I think I enjoyed the story even more as it was all about books, reading and publishing and as a serious bookworm this was a major appeal to me. If you’re after some light hearted, easy reading then this is the book to pick up! Hopefully the sequel in the series will come out soon!
Megan is trying to smoothly transition from Kansas to New York, and she almost makes it...except that rescuing a child from a near car accident makes her late on her first day. Meg's sunny attitude doesn't bring her through unscathed, but she gets the support she needs from solid sources, and I was hugely invested in her. This is an adorable story from start to finish. The story flows deftly, weaving her roommate, new friends, and work into a very believable, heartwarming story. The character development is natural and so subtle that I was caught unawares by a twist at the end (twice!). I'm pleased to report that the trials are skillfully wound into her tale, and there are at least 3 happy endings. I'm anxious to see what happens next!
I was looking for a light, fun, funny read when I picked up Six Floors from Somewhere, and that’s exactly what I got. This is the story of the diminutive Megan McCoy, a Kansas native with a knack for heroism, who lands in New York City to start an internship at the Beverly Fox Literary Agency. The opportunity is one Megan intends to turn into a full-time gig as a literary agent, but reality quickly veers far afield from her expectations. Tolman Terry’s real strength here is creating fully realized, multi-dimensional characters. Megan is easy to get to know. Rooting for her is even easier. The supporting cast is likably off-beat. Spending time with all of them during this big-city adventure was a real pleasure.
This was a fabulous read! It took me a few chapters to get into the flow of the story, but once I did I was hooked. Reading Megan's adventures made me want to take a trip to NYC and eat a warm empanada. The relationships were wonderfully written and one of my favorite aspects of the story. The underlying theme of service made me want to be more aware of how I can help others. Any book that can make a difference like that is a gem, in my opinion! I highly recommend this uplifting book and can't wait for the next installment!
