Zhao Feng never expected to amount to much. Coming from a small side branch of the main family sect, with only his deep commitment to hard work and perseverance to set him apart enough to allow him to be sent to the main sect for training, his prospects weren’t great. However, his left eye accidentally merging with that of an Ancient God’s changed all that in the space of a heartbeat!
Suddenly Zhao Feng developed powers and abilities beyond what he’d ever dreamed, and only his imagination (and his own arrogance) could limit his potential. Will he walk the path of a great cultivator and become one of the foretold legends or will he burn up from the heat of his own glory? Will he remain a mere fish, or become the dragon his god’s eye foretells? Find out in this first installment of King of Gods
☆☆ - 2.7 Literally Sharingan + Byakugan = this Started off decent, than crescendo-ed but went downhill as the novel progressed. Character development and personality are lacking : /
I kid you not, EVERY POWER the Sharingan and Byakugan has this MC's eye has. Spoiler Reviewer above me is in denial! Positives & Negatives + Becomes far more interesting later after 300 chapters - Starts slow and has repetitive tournaments. - Character always manages to find an opponent just one realm above his own... yeah okay... Everything is not bad though, however, not super innovative. If you are bored and have nothing left to read, and want to read a different tale about a guy with a sharingan, then this is for you.
Hotheaded arrogant weak protagonist offends people slightly more powerful than him left and right by breathing. He proceeds to face slap them using his 'godly' powers before moving on to the next shallow conflict.
So many reviews complain about endless repetition and well... that's obvious now, I can't fathom why they would read 1500+ more chapters. I can only guess it was because of the very high rating on NU which got me this far. Apparently this gets better after a few hundred chapters and gets even worse later.
This is not my first time reading this. I have read the unpublished translated copies from Gravity. I prefer the book version. It is easier to read. Many of the mistaken, were taken care of. It was just better all together. The story itself is great. It you typical change of fate rise to power story. The MC is not instantly super powerful and he still has to work. However he does get a helping hand that changes his fate.
Generic eastern cultivation novel, a standard Xuanhuan, nothing to write home about, if you enjoy the genre this is a fun fast read.
Its biggest positive was it ended early with only 1585 chapters which is considered short for the genre. While not offering anything new at least it didn't offer anything bad. The plot does feel repetitive every two hundred odd chapters, still I enjoyed the fast-paced simple read.
Difficult to get started, but I couldn't stop once I was into the story
I am a bit conflicted on this book. It reads like a poor translation of a manga, so it was a bit frustrating to read. The other half of the equation was I ended up being caught up in the story line. Oh well, I will probably buy the next book
Fast-paced and well edited, this is an excellent example of this genre.
The main character is likeable, the villains are dastardly, and the action is deadly. The editing and translation are excellent. I look forward to the next book.
This author surpasses other talented authors of wuxia because he does not make battles last longer than they need to. The authors writing is clear and concise. This is an excellent book.
This story is very okay but nothing special I've read lots better kind type story's and this just didn't WoW me? I'm buying another one I'm still interested for now??
It gets better and more stable after the initial 300-400 chapters. It is a typical cultivation story where the MC fights weaker opponents, runs away from stronger ones and finds cultivation resources in undiscovered locations as he strengthens himself to God level. This had more interest places and villains through most of it except for two places. One is where prolong battles becomes dozens of filler chapters. The other less interesting sections are the ending chapters where the MC cycles back to his country and sect of origin restarting old grudges. Too predictable. The harem building was minor and almost non-existent until the end.
I believe this was a translation, so there are grammar issues, and improper sentences. However I loved the book as it made me feel like I was in one of the Kung Fu movies I watch as a kid. Well....minus the special moves and Chi. Good book in you like Asian style of writing.
