Kings of the Tower #1

The Big Bad Office Wolf

Rate this book
After the night of her life with a dirty, sexy stranger who’s supposed to live a world and a half away from her, Tori is feeling pretty damn smug - until she finds him in the office next door.

Bryant is a menace, making every woman in the entire building lose focus, but she never thought he would actually go after her assistant.
Determined to save the poor girl from his clutches, she confronts him, and finds herself thrust in a world she never knew existed.

Bryant should stay away from the sweet little prim and proper thing wrapped in designer suits, but he’s had a taste and he can’t seem to forget it. He knows there’s no way he can even pretend to be satisfied with a vanilla relationship. Good thing that when the clothes and the attitude come off, Tori might very well be a sub. All he needs is to lead her down the rabbit hole…

Disclaimer: The big bad office wolf is a very steamy romance, more so than most of my books. As the description suggests, it also includes some BDSM element. Spare panties recommended.

WOW! Now that I've had a cold shower I think I can write my review!! Bryant is most certainly a wolf, talk about being being hot as f##k!! This guy is my kind of dom and tori is one lucky lady. When tori meets a hot guy at her godfathers party and decides to have a night of hot sex with a guy that she will never probably see again it a night to remember,Bryant is a great lover and knows how to please a woman. But when tori meets the brother who will be taking over the business it's none over then the sexy guy she had a one night stand and she's pissed, but Bryant can't get tori out of his head and plans on having tori again . Bryant has a dominant side and will introduce tori to a BDSM club the tower run by the sexy dark Desmond king and his two brothers.Together these two lovers will explore each other's fantasies and in the process fall in love along the way. What a awesome steamy sexy read!!! Can't wait to read the next book in this series!!!! I love when erotica is done right and May Sage did it fabulously!!!

I'm not big on the whole BDSM lifestyle but I have read my fair share of BDSM romance books over the past year. When May Sage released this book, I knew I had to read it because I'm a huge fan of all her books. OMG! I freaking LOVED it!

Tori is all business in the office but has a hidden wild side. One look at Parker and his smoldering eyes, she knew she had to have him. Little did she know that her one-night stand with her future boss would lead her into the secretive world of BDSM.

Bryant is now in charge of Croft Advertising and even though his brother told him to stay away from Tori, he couldn't stay away, not after their smokin' hot night of sex. She turns him on like no woman ever has. If he's not careful, he might just make her his wife. But he's a Dom and she'll have to be okay with that part of him. Can he bring out her inner Sub and let her into his secret world or will he have to prowl around for a new mate?

Note: there are some BDSM sex scenes but they are tastefully done.

I loved this one and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

3.5 Stars for this book. I usually don't read too many BDSM books because it's not really my thing. I must say that I really enjoyed this book and the story. Bryant & Tori had great chemistry and I liked how he introduced her to his world and allowed her to make her own decision on it. The sexual tension was good and the scenes were pretty hot. This was the first book I read by this author and I will definitely be reading book 2 in this series to see what happens with Lexi.

May Sage certainly knows how to write a steamy office romance! Of course if Victoria had known who Bryant was in the beginning things may not have happened quite the way they did. But then who can resist that British accent even if he is the boss! Hopefully we'll see more of the King brothers and James in future stories.

“What was it with Tori Brown?”

This was the question that I was constantly asking myself throughout this book. But the short answer was instalove. Good old instalove, never fails in a rushed put together erotic book.

Bryant is the type of male character that is only interested in sex and seeing women as notches. But there’s just something about Tori, that’s what he’s always saying. But guess what? He never actually explains what he finds so irresistible about her. When he finally asks Tori to marry him he even says,

“Then, he remembered what his gender had done for centuries when they found themselves completely, utterly pussywhipped like him, and he said, Fucking marry me.”

Clearly the author of this book and I don’t get along; most of her writing I found to be unbearable. Just a few examples:

“She swallowed her saliva with difficulty.”

“Come here, furry little bunny. I need your mouth.”

“Yep. She was milking her panties.”

“He exuded raw sensuality, the kind that promised orgasms on tap.”

The only reason I managed to finish this book was because there were small moments that Tori actually connected with me. I loved parts of her personality and one liners.

“Hello, gentlemen. Let me remove my invisibility cape and signal my presence.”

“That’s because normally people, in general, and men in particular, only bother to praise me when they want something.”

So if Tori didn’t have a sarcastic attitude there is no way I would have finished this book. This book has been done a million times before but better.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

So the beginning was promising, I really loved Tori and her no nonsense attitude and Bryant had some potential but that’s about it. I was expecting things to happen when really this is just a very simple romance.

The biggest issue I have is it started to feel like the story was just a bullet pointed list of things that need to happen in order for these to characters to get together. I mean, one second they’re discussing bdsm the next he’s asking her to marry him?? I had whiplash, the pacing was awful. I was hoping Bryant wouldn’t be the typical alpha male who doesn’t like his woman getting on with other men but, alas, he fell directly into that trap. Some of the writing was a bit too cringe worthy too, I mean, I don’t find the idea of ‘creaming’ anything sexy at all so to read that multiple times throughout was just totally off putting.

Anyway, the two stars are for Tori because I do really like her as a character. I just wish the story she was in was a bit more fleshed out and a little less instalove.

I did like this, the story line was predictable but hot along with the sex and the characters were likable and had chemistry. The problem I had with this read is that it finished too abruptly for me it feels as though two different people are writing the story the first being patient and building the story line and characters and then the second one jumps in and just ends it because they can't be bothered and unfortunately this effected the book for me.

This was cute! A nice take on the office romance trope. Very light on the BDSM, but fun anyhow. And I'm intrigued about the next book in the series (that explores secondary characters) enough to say I will likely pick it up.

This Book actually made me want to Gasp, Swoon and Faint. This was the first book I have read by the author and I assure you it won't be my last. She is a master chef that has taken all of the usual ingredients. Beautiful, but not really know, girl Tori aka. Victoria Brown and Bryant Parker formally Bryant Croft. He has the looks, charm and the ability to have women's panties explode by looking at them. We've all read these same stories with the same characters, however, May Sage has taken these same ingredients to make a delicious four-course meal out of it.
Tori is a workaholic who is trying to prove that she can make it on her own and she has chosen the cutthroat world of advertising to make her mark. It doesn't hurt that her godfather, James is the CEO, brother of Bryant, and she has 20% of the company she inherited from her father, recently deceased. Nonetheless, she has decided to do this at the ire of her fellow coworkers who are either talking about her behind her back or to her face. In either case, they are giving her hostile work environment. But she doesn't care because she is wearing this suit of armor in her clothing and attitude and has one friend in Lexi, her assistant. But all of this stress leaves a girl with the need for a release and here entres Bryant.

Bryant, as I said before, is the brother of James the CEO of Croft Advertising. Bryant and James have a very complicated relationship stemming from their father, subsequently the different last names. James wants to retire from the world of Advertising, and he wants Bryant to take over for him. Bryant feeling a sense of obligation to his brother ( we will learn about that later in the book) decides to leave his own corporate law firm, in London, to run his brother's Advertising agency. Bryant sees Tori at an office party and is immediately enamored with her. But is immediately thwarted by his brother who says, "Oh no you don't" he then goes on to say to him"I'm not kidding, Bryant. Not. That. One.". Bryant's interest is piqued because the one thing you do not say to a Dom is no. He then learns that the woman he is attracted to is James' god-daughter and she is off limits. Bryant is his own man and is not good following orders, decides to speak to her.

He sees an opportunity when he sees a group of friends chatting with Tori. They chat and have a witty banter back and forth about the benefits of living in New York versus London. Both are attracted to the other decides to leave together. The cab ride to his place is steamy, to say the least, and decide to leave the party together. And have some of the best scenes I have read in a long time. It had me squealing like a school girl and gasping for breath. And it was all perfect because they were not supposed to see one another again. Or so she thought. And then one day they do.

The sparks fly and the feels brew. There were some I can't believe this is happening spots and some really you are going to let this happen parts. But all in all this book did keep me interested and almost late for work. lol

This book and the sequel are centered around the Tower and BDSM haven where Bryant is a member and she introduces Tori into the world of Dom and Sub. The authors way of looking at this world really sucks you in and you can actually feel like you are in the room experiencing what the characters are experiencing. May, really makes you feel the characters and all the ups and downs they are going through. This world she allowing us to get a glimpse of opulent and extremely exclusive but the characters are relatable and you do feel for them.

I was disappointed with the predictable end and it did leave me flat. But I will say that I did enjoy this book even with that because it was just soo good. I can wait to go down the Rabbit hole.

I was expecting a little more when reading this book. I kept waiting for something really exciting to happen, which never happened. The two main characters were great. I love the fact that they played into Bryant having an accent, which most women find sexy. Then throw in a sob story of an upbringing to boot. Tori was a strong fierce woman in her work field. She had to work extra hard to get to where she was at and yet everyone still assumed she was given special treatment or she slept her way to the top. What I did find lacking was a really good fight, bad rumor, something that would have made either of the main characters really fight for the other. Maybe Bryant's brother could have thrown a few punches or threats after finding out about them being together. Or Tori's mother meddling in there trying to propose marriage before they were even close.

I honestly was expecting this to be so bad. Like I was thinking it was going to be terrible. I also thought Bryant was going to be a werewolf, but that wasn’t true. The synopsis is a little bit confusing, but the story is actually pretty good! It definitely has an adult cast of characters with an adult plot, and honestly, if BDSM makes you uncomfortable, do not read this book.

With that said, I actually quite enjoyed it. Yeah, some of the things that happened in it were unrealistic and honestly kind of out of the blue, but I think it was still an enjoyable story, and I definitely think I would continue on with the rest of the series!

Yeah, for office romance!

For the people that don't pay attention to the blurb, yes the author does warn you there are kinky and BDSM moments in this book. I for one love a good scene and the final final chapter did not disappoint. Kinda wish more had happened with sniveling Jana but glad Tori ended up with a champion at the office.

I’m pretty sad that this book really didn’t do it for me. I wanted so much more smut. And with it being tagged bdsm I figured I’d get it. But there was such a lack of smut it was ridiculous. The synopsis mentioned the “hottest night of her life” and it was just looked over. Like barely anything. WHAT?! That’s all I got. Nothing else.

Slow start to fast paced end

At first I had trouble relating to the main characters but I’m glad I did finish the story anyway. The (happy) ending is a bit rush. Especially, the bonus scene - pity

Sex Clubs, Promiscuous Men and Sexism - Garbage - DO NOT RECOMMEND

I have no interest in the erotic genre that includes sex clubs, swinging, BDSM, and the like. I’m not a prude, to each her own but it’s just not my vibe. Also, promiscuous men are not attractive, sexy or romantic. No thank you. Authors that use this theme in their writing do such a disservice to women. It’s so disappointing especially when it’s a female author. Women should be empowering and supporting each other. Female authors should be writing female leads with the same intelligence, success, self assuredness as they do their male leads. Why keep promoting and giving air to the antiquated storyline that pits women against one another. This creates a competition between the female lead and all the women the male lead has had any sexual/intimate encounter. The HEA is that the female lead is somehow the winner and all the other women are losers. Great message. NOT! Also, what does the female lead win? The male lead and his overused, overshared D. No self respecting, intelligent woman sees him as a prize. No self respecting, intelligent reader sees this as romantic or something they want to relate too. There are too many men out here to choose from that put a value on their emotional connections, intimate and sexual connections, their bodies and those of their partners to settle for anyone such as this male lead. The Big Bad Office Wolf is a HELL NO!
SEX SCENES - Yes, I only read one before I stopped reading. I’m certain there will be others.

MUST READ!!!!!

Everything about this book is pure perfection! From the sexy accent Bryant has to the sassy, smart mouthed Tori. This sexy, office romance has everything you could ever want! Fun, witty banter? Check! Super secret sex club? Check! Hot sex? TRIPLE CHECK!!!!

I feel head-over-heels in love with this book within the first 5 minutes. I couldn't put it down! I ignored everything around me to do nothing but read non-stop. There isn't a single bad that to be said about this book! As soon as I finished reading, I had to talk about it with anyone that would listen! This may have been my first book by May Sage, but it certainly will not be the last!

The narration was so hot, I was afraid my phone was going to melt! Shane East and Lucy Rivers burned up the audio and had my blushing like crazy!

Follow this wolf down the rabbit hole! No regrets here!

Now here's a rabbit hole I love exploring! I have read a number of May Sage books now, and this one is definitely a little different compared to her previous ones. It's the first in a series, but if you loved the Some Girls Do It Better series (like I did), then you'll love this book since it has interconnected characters that I loved seeing again. It's a longer book, which made it all the more enjoyable, and there is a lot more kink here.

This story focuses on Tori and Bryant. These two have multiple mutual friends, but meet at work. You could call it an office romance since Bryant flirts with Tori a lot, but that is not where the action gets heated or really happens. Tori is a hardworking, independent woman who isn't scared of most people. She does everything she can to prove herself, to others and family. Bryant starts poor but doesn't end like that. He is dedicated to his work, is a dom that takes care of his women, and is an alpha. The two have immediate chemistry, and it sizzles off the page! There is a good deal of tension that builds over the story that I loved, and the two are very professional. They both are considerate of the other, and seeing them develop feelings for one another was really great to witness. Tori discovers a new world and goes down the rabbit hole with Bryant and she tries to navigate his world for and with him, so if you don't like kink on your stories, this is not for you. It starts early and increases as Tori goes further down the rabbit hole (this metaphor amuses me to no end). The ending chapter is different, so you've been warned if you aren't a fan of what kinds of things happen in BDSM clubs, especially involving more than just the couple.

Overall, I thoroughly loved this book! The people were fantastic and developed, with other secondary characters that I look forward to seeing in future books. The writing is well done, immediately drawing me in and finishing it in one sitting. The pacing was great, as well as the plot, and the editing was also pretty good. If you loved the Some Girls Do It Better series, then I highly recommend reading this series, especially if you love some kink in your stories. If you are new to May Sage but love your stories involving BDSM, then this is a great story to read! The interconnected characters are all explained, so you don't have to worry about them. It's got everything you want in a fully developed story, with plenty of heat and character building to make you very satisfied.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review of the book. I also bought the book because I loved it so much.

“That accent of yours is quite dangerous, you know. You should use it with care.” (Tori)

“One could say the same about purple lipstick on your mouth, yet you seem to have no shame in honing your weapons. Pardon me if I make use of mine.” (Bryant)

In short, he was an office wolf in a sheep’s clothing, and the flock was falling for it.

I do enjoy May Sage’s writing style. She has a very light touch, blending humour with very hot sex!

There is not a lot of plot involved outside of the growing relationship between Bryant, the Office Wolf, and Tori one of his employees. Tori is also Bryant’s brother’s goddaughter. Bryant has been invited by his brother, to whom he feels he owes much, to take over his company as he wants to retire. Bryant agrees but needs a few weeks to wrap up business in his home town of London before moving to NYC.

After being warned away by his brother, Bryant is intrigued as to why he shouldn’t go anywhere near Tori. When he attends a staff party he manages to get himself introduced to her and they have instant lust. It leads to a one night stand. Tori is definitely not amused that she wasn’t warned that she was going to be having sex with her new boss before jumping into bed with him.

The rest of the story deals with the characters being slowly unveiled to the other, through stories, observation and conversation. This is why I say this author has a light touch, because in other writer’s hands this type of plot could become either predictable or overly tortured. May Sage manages to avoid both of these styles of writing.

As this is the first book in a series, I’m really looking forward to the next ones to be written. Whilst I’m waiting, I’ll probably just go and read one of her many paranormal books that I am working my way through!

I grabbed a free copy of this from Amazon back in 2019. The book has been loitering on my Kindle ever since, as I was grazing through my Kindle and deleting books that I had read, I came across it and thought I would read it.

I gave this a 3 stars or 6/10. This is the first in the Kings of the Tower series by this Author. Whilst there are returning characters in the series they can be read as standalones in my opinion. I felt that after having read this one, that I had read sufficient to not need to read the others in the series.

This was a quick read of just over 220 pages, the last 20 or so pages being the start of the next book in the series which I didn't read as I felt that I had read enough of the series in the first book.

There is a disclaimer which I found quite amusing if I am honest, whilst there are a few passages in the story that are quite steamy and other passages where BDSM features , the story is not littered with them. The story is quite character driven in my opinion rather than out and out action of a sexual nature, which is quite a change for some stories in this genre.

I enjoyed reading about the developing relationship between Bryant and Tori. Bryant did like to take charge in more ways than one and Tori was turning into quite a willing participant despite her initial apprehension of what he had in store for her.

Ermahgawd...this book was soooo hawt...*fans self*
Bryant has been asked by his brother, to love from the UK to USA to take over his advertising business. While there, he spies a heart stopping woman...only to be told by his bro ‘anyone but that one’...see, Tori is his brother’s goddaughter! Later, at a company mixer, Bryant finds the irresistible Tori and the two have a one-night thing. Tori does not normally do one-nighters but that night she’s wearing sexy underwear and feeling good about herself....besides, she’ll never see this guy again. Imagine her surprise when, a few weeks later, she learns that the new CEO is none other that the one-night stand!! Tori has always had to deal w whispers of nepotism in the office but she works hard and does a great job...now she has to deal w the fact that she has really slept with the boss! Yep, she’s one ticked of advertising manager. Bryant doesn’t give up though...he’s intrigued by Tori, but will she give in to his pursuit? Will Tori run when she learns of Bryant’s past and his tastes?
This was a quick read-listen, with some LOL moments. Loved the supporting characters and can’t wait to read some of their stories.
