Really 3.5 stars. It took me a while to get into the story and I’m not sure whether that was due to a lack of attention on my part, or if the book was just kind of hard to get into. The dance chapter just went on and on and I almost gave up on the story. Luckily, it got better and more engaging, and hence more enjoyable. I’ve read a lot of books about New Mexico this year including the Milagro Beanfield War, and this added a nice complement. Todd McClung wasn’t the most respectable guy to begin with, but in the end, I couldn’t help but root for him and his family. I’m glad I read this book, but I’m glad to move on.
