Boy Toy by R.R. Banks. 3.5 stars. Standalone.
This book was a little hard at the beginning but then I started enjoying the story and the suspense behind it. This was not just a romantic hot story, it had everything to keep a person reading until the end. It was interesting and it got me on the edge of my seat. I didn't see anything coming, it was amazing how Banks surprised me with every page turn.
The downside for me was that there was so many people's pov. It got confusing at some point but at the same time, I liked because it showed all the sides of the story. Anyway, it was an interesting book with a story that kept me wanting to know what would happen and I loved the end. It was amazing!!
RR Banks has used his magic once again and written a story that will have you hanging on to every word until the very end! Boy Toy has a fantastic storyline and characters that you can't help but love.
After years in an unhappy marriage Eleanor is now divorced and on the run from her ex. Celebrating her nephew's wedding all Eleanor wants is to enjoy herself for the night. When she meets Hunter the nerdy, young man proves rather hard to ignore. The chemistry between them is fiery from the start. Soon Eleanor finds herself in need of help and Hunter is quick to offer her a hand and their adventure together begins. Will these two find that being shipwrecked together might have been the best thing to happen to them? Will Eleanor's secrets catch up to them before they find happiness?
This action-packed, steamy romance will have you laughing, on the edge of your seat, and rooting for Hunter and Eleanor to find their own happily ever after. If you enjoy steamy romance full of adventure and twists and turns that will hook you until the amazing conclusion then you'll definitely want to read Boy Toy! I went into this book blind without even reading the description but it didn’t take long for me to be drawn into the story. Eleanor just wants a bit of fun and to avoid the danger that seems to be following her. Hunter steps in to protect her, but seems to have his own agenda.
"They can come," I said, "but they won't get you." Eleanor started to look away and I reached out to tuck a finger under her chin and lift her face to look at me again. "They won't get you. I won't let them."
I listened to most of this on audiobook. The narrator did a good job with all of the different characters. I loved that I always knew who was speaking!
Secrets, danger, adventure and LOTS of hot sex made this an enjoyable listen! 4 Stars!
I don’t usually like books with billionaries, because they tend to solve all they problems throwing money at them. And I don’t think I would like a Romance book were the characters are mobsters or part of a mafia family. So, the blurb of this book wasn’t really interesting. Then why I picked it? Damn cover…
In this book we follow Eleanor, the ex-wife of a crime boss who has sensible data about the criminal and her life is in danger. On the other hand we have Hunter, who is just a hunbky nerd who has to accept the role of the Knight in shinning armor. They have to scape danger from a boat and end stranded in a desserted island where they have more than enough time to get to know each other.
First of all I have to say I wasn’t expectiong at all what I have read in this book. The blurb is vague, very vague. It doesn’t represent the story at all. It fails to mention the characters are trapped on a deserted island, which is the body and soul of the whole book. Due to that, the action packed first chapters were a total and welcome surprised. I thought it was going to be a book with endless conversations about impossible relationships, but nothing like that at all. At least not at first. Once they are out of the island, the story gets boring pretty quickly. The last three or four chapters are a torture and I couldn’t wait to get rid of them…
My experience as a reader with this book is confusing. Sometimes, I had the feeling I wasn’t reading a standalone story. It felt like the ending of other book and I didn’t know what was going on. There are too much name dropping that doesn’t make any sense until the end, where the author explains there are several characters from a previous book. That wouldn’t have been the problem, except the story of those characters is almost as important as the story of the so-called main characters of Boy Toy. So, yeah. Sometimes I got lost. It doesn’t help that the story is told through the point of view of at least six characters. SIX!! Too many…
The main characters are not bad per se, but Eleanor and Hunter are totally underdeveloped. She at least has some kind of backstory, but Hunter is just a chunk of meat. His virginity (that is what it is…) could have been a nice plot element, but he must be a sex prodigy or something. It doesn’t make any sense how natural he seems pleasuring a woman when he has never done something like that. I would have never thought less of him for needing help traveling the woman body.
And then we have Gavin, the third person who get stranded on the island with them. Due to the fact that are several chapters from his point of view, I thought that I was in front of a love triangle or even a future threesome. I was kind of hopeful for that, because he is by far the most interesting character. But he is a just another piece of the story, one that is thorwn away once it has completed its task. I wonder if he will be used in another book or something. It would be a waste of a nice character otherwise.
As I said before, the ending is horrible. It’s not only too long, it also destroys the little faith I had in the romance between Eleanor and Hunter. You can’t just have a severe fight in one paragraph and a wedding in the next… It’s not right. And don’t make me start about the weird advice that makes Hunter change his mind about Eleanor. “You have to decide if the lie is more important than the person” or something like that. Edwin is way older than me and possibly wiser, but that is a huge pile of bullshit. If a person is lying about herself, how can you decide that? How can you choose the person when you know that you don’t really know that person? I think it was meant to be a pretty piece of wisdom, but in my opinion is openning the door to a long life of unhappiness.
Thankfully, most of the book is pretty entertaining with a nice couple of twists; so it’s a nice reading for a slow day.
Boy Toy is an older woman/younger man story. Eleanor was married to a bad man but she found a way out of the marriage. She just wants people to not know who she is so she can be treated like a normal person for once in her life. Hunter works for Eleanor's nephew. He is very attracted to Eleanor but is shy . They really don't make sense as a couple but their love story is sweet.
(spoilers ahead...but only a little)
I enjoyed the romance at the center of this story but most of the rest of the story was a jam packed mess. I finished the story knowing almost nothing about Hunter other than he's a geek, virgin (until he meets Eleanor) and hot. Oh so hot. And then there's Eleanor. I feel like I know a lot about her but do I really? And then there's Gavin. Who's Gavin? The guy that Hunter and Eleanor end up on a desserted island with. But he was also hired to kidnap Eleanor. I feel like the author has a great backstory for Gavin but I don't know what it is so I don't really care about him. For that matter, there's Noah and Snow (the nephew and his new wife). Don't know much about them. Or Virgil (the ex-husband) or Lucille (Snow's archenemy).
At the end of the story I was left feeling incomplete. It felt like the author probably had lots of stories in her head but only wrote a little bit of it in this story. It was very frustrating to read an incomplete feeling story. And if you don't like switching first person POV, this story is not for you. The POV shifts and changes ALL THE TIME! I received and ARC copy of this story in exchange for a review. My version of the book was filled with typos and he/she/I errors.

Awwww.....A man after my own heart💓! Author Banks📝 takes us on a journey into the hearts💖 of an older woman, Eleanor💋💔,( a Cougar, for sure), and a young man, Hunter🐺🍌🌋, THE BOY TOY, as they meet at a wedding, are sent on a free cruise🚢 as a thank you, and then have to flee the ship🚢 and get stuck together on a tropical 🌴 island.
Hunter🐺🍌🌋 is a big hunk of handsome young man meat, but he is also somewhat of a nerd. Girls don't make passes at guys who wear glasses! Wrong! Women make passes at big, hot naaasssty bad boy🐺🍌🌋✋, sex toys, and we can pick em out of any crowd, anywhere! Doesn't matter how they are dressed.
Unfortunately, there is another man👹 along on the deserted island. Gavin👹 was piloting the getaway boat, standing by just off the cruise ship🚢, waiting for the mafia hired men🔪🔫 types who were supposed to kill Eleanor💋💔, at the order of her criminal ex husband. She knows too much, she knows where the bodies are buried! Instead of picking up the hit Men🔪🔫, he picks up the target, Eleanor💋💔, and Hunter🐺🍌🌋✋, her protective wanna be BOY TOY. After leaving the cruise ship🚢 behind, they get caught in a bad storm and are all washed up on the deserted island, Eleanor Robinson Crusoe💋💔, and her gorgeous man Friday Hunter🐺🍌🌋 and Gavin👹, the headhunter that wants to spoil the party. The book is funny at times and tongue in cheek👄 in places where you least expect it. I like my sex with some sarcasm! Or is that an Orgasm?

Wow! This was a fantastic read—that was thrilling, dynamic, and a suspenseful romance story that will have you on the edge of your seat. If you like hot and steamy passion, scorching hot intimate scenes that are awe-inspiring, then this book is for you. This was a different forbidden love story of older woman/younger man than the normal ones you read, but once you become a part of their lives, the sordid details falls away. R.R. Banks presents one of the most unseemly “potential love” stories, and slowly takes you through so many heart wrenching emotions. This is a poignant story about Eleanor, older wealthy woman, who is in danger and escapes from her ex-husband and meets Hunter, the younger man (boy toy), who saves her from assailants hired by her ex-husband. Why would Eleanor feel that she is in danger from her ex-husband and why would her ex-husband want to harm her? There are several twists and turns within the storyline with suspense, kidnapping, sex, sex—did I say SEX that is off-the-chart hot, and intrigue that makes it very interesting and compelling. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. The story will also pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.
Fun read. At first Hunter read like a woman. Sorry. He totally did. But that improved. Sort of... actually, it didn’t thinking back. I wondered more than once if it had been written from 3rd person and changed to 1st, because so many times the pronouns didn’t match up. It’d say “her” when it should have been “I.” The running around on the island was crazy and confusing. Did they really need to go through the tunnel so much? Whatever happened to the second helicopter pilot? And it was a few pages in at the end before I figured out they were in the woods and not on the island. But that’s what happens when you call a series installment a standalone and don’t explain up front that your setting has changed. There were characters who served no other purpose really than to be set up for another book ::coughgavincough:: The wrap up was a let down because telling, not showing. The age difference made zero difference. In fact, we are never really told either character’s age for sure... forties, nearing thirty, 15 year difference. It was a non starter.
R.R. Banks does it again. What a 5-star hit story. It is different than previous books but in the best way. This is an older woman, younger man romance. It is unique and very interesting.
The author take us through a wild adventure (literally). This story continues characters from previous Banks book: Snow and the 7 hunks. We have Noah, Snow, Lucille and Hunter of course - the lead of this story. It was nice to get chapters from different characters point of view and also to see what's happening in Snow and Noah's life.
The story is well-written, full-fledged, covering all the aspects of the story. It was a joy reading it and I'm glad I'm on R.R. Banks ARC list. I get to read the best stories in advance by this author who never disappoints. Even his Newsletters are funny and personalized.
If it wasn't obvious, I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book to provide my honest opinion.
With each new book I read I end up with a new favorite! R.R. Banks takes a character who was a supporting character from a previous book (Snow and the 7 Hunks) and weaves a tale around him. However, it isn't necessary to read that book first because this is a standalone with no cliffhanger and a HEA, although I highly recommend it. This story is a nice length...it doesn't end too soon leaving you scratching your head wondering what happened to the story. It captured my interest within the first paragraph and kept me invested until the very end. I had a hard time putting it down so mostly I didn't. If you are looking for a good read that has a real story line, look no further.
Now, I'm hopeful that some of the supporting characters (Gavin, Sophie & Edwin) from this book will get their own books so we can learn about them!
Boy Toy it is!! I am all about this fun, suspense building, hotness for days, made Gilligan's Island look like an absolute bore read!
I mean.. whats not to love?! You've got that cover for visualization ( very helpful btw )
Then there is Hunter, Eleanor first meets him at her nephew Noahs wedding, while their first encounter does not go as planned. Everything after is a dirty, hot, twisted, crazy train. What they lack in themselves, they make up for in each other. PHEW. Folks, I have to admit, when I first started reading this one I was like, what? Nah, this won't be my "cup of tea, " but I kept on out of curiosity and my quickly growing fandom for R.R. Banks So. Glad. I. Did. It may be a witty, hot mess, but it is one helluva a great read! I loved it! I think it is worth a #OneClick
Eleanor is trying to forget who she is so she doesn't want others to know that either. She attends her nephew Noah's wedding and meets Hunter a much younger man and is drawn to him. She didn't expect to drag him into her mess with her ex-husband. Hunter helps Eleanor escape and they both end up ship wreck on an island with a mysterious stranger. As they build shelter and hope rescue comes they face the fact that it might not be coming too soon. When they learn that its just the 2 of them left they worry about who the other guy was and why he would leave them. With no one in the way they give into their attraction but what will happen when Hunter finds out about Eleanor's lies?
I loved this story and the characters. I can't wait for the next book from this author.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Story told from multiple viewpoints, though the main character is Eleanor, aunt of Noah from Snow and the Seven Hunks. She's looking only for anonymity and a good time when she meets Snow and Noah's coworker Hunter at their reception. He initially seems receptive to her advances but ultimately rejects her. Eleanor is then forced to run from her past and Hunter ends up running with her and one thing leads to another and they end up shipwrecked on a deserted island. Eleanor and Hunter (along with Gavin, long story) try to build shelter on the island to protect them from the elements while they wait for rescue.
This story is technically a sequel but can be read without having read Snow. The storyline is good with many twists and turns. I felt it got a little boring at times from lack of dialogue but an abundance of narration. However, still a great read. Would recommend.
This is a book that will pull the reader in, right from the start. It’s fun and quirky and a joy to read!
Eleanor is a likable older woman who is divorced from a “not so nice” criminal. She is attempting to lay low so that his goons don’t locate her. While attending her nephew’s wedding, she crosses paths with a handsome younger man. Hunter may be nerdy, but there is something special that immediately makes you like him.
When the two of them end up shipwrecked on a deserted island paradise, things heat up. But their adventure is just beginning. Can Hunter keep her safe? Will he discover her identity she kept hidden from him? Is there a future ahead for them, despite the difference in their ages?
Join the cruise, relax and enjoy the twists and turns of this crazy adventure. The dialog is good and the relationship sizzles. You won’t want to miss it!
R.R. Banks has done another great job, I love how this linked into Snow and the 7 Hunks by being set after Snow and Noah got married. This is Hunters story .. you know the hot assistant for the other book, the really delicious and lovely sounding guy. I really like getting to know Hunter more and how he meets Eleanor the sexy older lady. Eleanor has the worst luck since escaping from her ex, however he seems to be able to track her down anywhere. Just when she though things were bad enough on the cruise ship but now .... yeah good luck with that. This had a good mix of sexyness, a good lotta hot n heavy, a bit of suspense and intrigue on what will happen next! I hope we get to see Gavin again and I would mind good old Edwin turning up too.

I loved this!! This is a follow up book to Snow and the 7 Hunks about Hunter and Noah's aunt Eleanor. Danger? Yup. Hot men? Yup. Stranded on a deserted island? Yup. Hot, panty-melting sex? Of course!! RR Banks brings a fantastic story with some great humor throughout without detracting from the severity of the danger that they are in. An absolutely fantastic read! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Hero, Hunter = 5/5 Heroine, Eleanor = 5/5 Chemistry = 5/5 Sex = 5/5 Plot = 4/5 Mystery = 3/5 Action = 1/5 Darkness = 1/5 Humor = 3/5 POV = a few but mostly Eleanor and Hunter Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes
I will start out by saying I don't usually go for the older-woman-younger-man thing. Not saying those books are not usually well written and great stories, they just are not usually for me. But I thought what the hell R.R. Banks has never let me down before and his books always give me good feelings (wink wink). This book does not disappoint. I am very happy that I read this one. Eleanor is a strong woman just coming out of a marriage and the last thing she expected is to be flustered by a younger man. Hunter finds Eleanor extremely alluring and wants her in his bed. He may be young but that has never stopped him before. These two have the chemistry that burns through your Kindle. Loved it. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of this book for an honest review. Loved the story. Eleanor, ex wife of a bad man, just wanted to enjoy her nephew's wedding with out people knowing who she was. Hunter was at the right place at the right time to help her out. They jumped the cruise ship to get away from her husbands goons, only to land in the ocean and onto a small boat. They thought they were safe. No way. A Strom came they got stranded on a derserted island. They didn't know that the captain of the boat was after them, too. The story goes on from there, you just have to read it for yourself. Two thumbs up, R R Banks
Gosh what a story and even a snake bite, yikes - I hate snakes. An older woman, younger man lust/love situation. Eleanor, ex wife of a mob boss has more than her share of situations to deal with. She has been abused by her ex husband and her self esteem is at an all time low. Her life takes a turn when she meets Hunter, the friend of her nephew, He is 15 years younger than her, but makes her feel like a million dollars. Steamy sex and fast paced action as they ward off stalkers, hit men and mafia.. A good story that will keep you page turning and wanting more. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.
Finding chemistry with a man is one thing. Finding chemistry with a younger man while hiding out from your vengeful ex-husband is quite another!! Eleanor experiences island life while on the run from her ex-husband with sexy younger man Hunter, but will she live to experience all that their relationship could become?
At first, having so many POVs threw me, but I figured it out and the story became a very sweet and comical-at-times romance. This is the second time reading a full novel by R. R. Banks, and I defintiely can assure you, I'll be reading a lot more in the future.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. This book was incredible. It is filled with suspense, unbelievable chemistry between the two main character; Eleanor and Hunter, and so much more. You will be hooked from the beginning and wanting to turn each page faster and faster, just to get to the outcome. Eleanor is so sweet when it comes to Hunter. She is basically his dream come true. It was refreshing to read about an older woman/younger man for a change of pace. Will Hunter be able to save Eleanor from her horrible ex? Will they get their HEA they so deserve? You will not be disappointed by the book or the outcome at the end!
4 stars I purchased the novel Her Hunk by R.R. Banks and this review was given freely. This full length novel follows Snow and the 7 Hunks. Complex, suspenseful and steamy with lots of secrecy and hidden agendas, this is the opposite of the traditional billionaire-virgin romance. Forty something Billionairess and ex-mob wife Eleanor meets inexperienced twenty something friend of her nephew Hunter at her nephew Noah's wedding. Images of Snow and Noah's reception and honeymoon are interspersed between excerpts involving the mercenary Gavin, and of Hunter and Eleanor's brushes with both danger and being shipwrecked on a deserted island.
Eleanor and Hunter. What a story! Let's start with the fact that SHE is the older of the pair AND HE is the inexperienced one. Nice for a change. But that's not all. It is not just a story about these two learning to navigate the course their relationship takes but...there is danger, intrigue, a few twists I didn't see coming, shipwreck on a deserted island, learning to survive - the elements and new conflicting feelings, some fun, hot sex, and then reality crashes in. Great story that keeps you glued to the pages.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review
I liked this book a great deal. It played with the May/December relationship in a different way. Hunter is younger and inexperienced, Eleanor is older with a previous marriage. There were multiple points of view that let me see different characters reactions to the ongoing situation. The main characters are well developed, the minor characters are fun because they're either good or bad with no in between. The plot was intriguing, I loved the conflict both within the main characters relationship as well as with the bad guys throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book.
I'll be honest, I thought going in that this wouldn't be my kind of thing, but it's R.R. Banks and her stories are always good. So I kept reading and before I knew it I was deep into the story, hooked on every word, wanting to know how this all ended. It's funny, sizzling hot, intriguing as heck, and filled with action that keeps you turning the page. The chemistry between Eleanor and Hunter is just as amazing as the conclusion. Do yourself a favor and pick this story up! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I am leaving this honest review for the ARC of this book which was originally named "Boy Toy". Hunter, an employee of Eleanor's nephew, has been invited to attend the wedding of Noah and Snow. While Hunter is at the reception he makes a connection with Eleanor and then spurns her. After the reception they board a cruise ship where Eleanor is chased by her Ex-husbands henchmen. The action is slow to start but once they are on the deserted island the heat rises.
I liked this well written book. The storyline is nicely paced. The setting of the story was a nice change. The characters are what I liked best about this story. It was nice to be able to find out what happened to Hunter, and see him get his own HEA since his was not with Snow. But if you want to read about his time with Snow or who was Snows HEA then those answers are covered in the MANY bonus books offered with this latest story.
R.R. has once again given us a book that is fantastic. Get yourself ready to go on this wild ride of an older woman, younger man romance that is hot and steamy but will also give you a little laugh here and there as well. A divorced billionaire woman and a man that is sexy as sin, yes please. Get ready for a book that will grab you from page one. A sinfully sexy read that I thought was very enjoyable
Eleanor's ex-husband wants her back under his control, but she's doing her best to evade him. During a wedding cruise for her nephew, Eleanor and Hunter (and Gavin!) end up marooned, and the adventure seriously begins! I enjoyed the story, but I was struggling to figure out Gavin's deal. There were some good steamy moments, and I enjoyed their banter for the most part, although they each had moments that frustrated me with how they talked to each other.
