This is an excellent story and one I enjoyed reading immensely. The narrative is very intriguing and the sensual parts tastefully written. Throughout the week, Emma experiences emotional turmoil because of her feelings towards Chandler. Chandler, meanwhile, discovers two things during his exploration that he didn’t expect. This is definitely a book I would have no hesitation in recommending.
Emma hadn’t been serious when she submitted her application, so never expected to be selected for this once in a lifetime opportunity; an entire week alone with the world renowned artist Chandler Lexington. Emma doesn’t believe she is attractive enough to be a model of any sort; she too wants to be an artist, but her field is manga. Nevertheless Emma fits the criteria. Chandler has gone to great lengths to build a custom house in the middle of nowhere for the setting; he is trying to capture the sort of innocence only a chaste girl can provide and is well-known for capturing human emotions in his paintings. One girl, one week, no questions asked and absolute obedience; at the first sign of resistance Chandler will start the project over with a different model. It has been made clear that Emma is replaceable and while she is his first choice there are others waiting in line should she fail. Chandler wants the exhibit to be uninfluenced by the outside world and all its distractions. Throughout the week Chandler will be exposing Emma to a variety of experiences; all were going to be very intimate in nature and some will be intense. Chandler wants to create seven specific pieces for his exhibit and he is hoping Emma will help him capture the essence of what he is trying to accomplish. Emma signed her life away in the contract; anything he wants, that is what he gets. If Chandler wants some meek, shy thing, he has picked the wrong girl for his exhibit as Emma wants this week to be memorable for Chandler too. As the various scenes play out, Emma realises the more they are together the more convoluted her emotions become; the extreme feeling of loneliness at certain times doesn’t help either. When it is clear one of the scenes is going to be really intense, Chandler gives Emma the chance to back-out. Emma notices that for the first time ever that Chandler looks nervous, but she trusts him and hopes she has made the right decision; she intends to show him what she is made of. There is one scene that leaves Emma feeling a mix of rage and jealousy and her first instinct is to flee; to go home and forget everything that has happened. But Emma decides she is too close to the end of the project to leave now; she has to be the bigger person and see this through to the end. Chandler inspires Emma in so many ways; if she cannot say the words, then at least she can show him with her actions. When it comes to the final scene Chandler is acting differently; there is something about this room that bothers him. Emma has to make a choice; three minutes to decide something that will ultimately change her life forever. Will it be the right one?
