This is the second book in the Oceanside cozy mystery series. Heather Shepherd and her detective husband have just moved to Florida, and Heather has opened up another donut shop with her best friend Amy. They are trying to find employees, and not having a lot of luck with it. They also attempted to go scuba diving, but when their potential scuba instructor passes out and dies right in front of them, they not only become scared of scuba diving but set out to help the police find out who killed the instructor. Along the way they deal with jealous boyfriends, jealous ex-boyfriends, and a cranky local business owner who doesn't want to make anything easy for them. This was a fun book with some quirky characters, and I enjoyed it. I will read more in this series.
The Key West Donut Delights needs to hire a few employees. Heather Shepherd, owner and Amy Givens, her best friend are in the process of interviewing candidates. Amy decides it would be a great idea to go scuba diving so off they go with Ryan and Jamie joining them. Heather is a little timid about this activity. When they arrive at the site for instructions, the head instructor is late so Heather and Amy venture to find her. They encounter her and her boyfriend in the middle of any argument. Finally the instructor is ready to begin, she starts by demonstrating the breathing technique with her tank, only problem is when she taking air in from the tank, she ends up DEAD. What happened??? Leave it to Heather and Amy to investigate. The flavor of the featured donut is Banana Chocolate. Lily is looking to make friends at school. Fast paced mystery with a cast of flavorful characters. Good read. This is book # 2 in the Oceanside Mystery series. It can be read as a stand alone. I volunteered to read Banana Chocolate Murder. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
So much fun to read. The characters were colorful and interesting. Love the storyline , kept me entertained. Had to read it till the last page in one night.
Heather and company are trying to settle into Key West and a new life. The donut shop is not open. Ryan is not on the police force and Lily is beginning school. Heather and Amy interview for shop personnel, witness a murder at their scuba class and now must add the investigation to their “to do list.” I enjoyed this book, it quickly reminds of everyday things that must be accomplished while settling into a new community. It also adds an investigation right on top of the to do list. Hopefully the next book will have the shop open and Ryan employed. All the books are fun to read, no violence, and suitable for everyone.
Heather and the gang are settling in their new home and working hard to open the new store. When they decide to take a break and take scuba lessons, they soon find themselves in the middle of another murder investigation.
As always, Susan Gillard's stories are clean, quick, entertaining reads with just the right amount of mystery and a great cast of characters.
I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. My review is voluntary and the opinions my own.
Though the mystery was relatively easy to figure out. I feel like, similar to the last book, Heather is being cut out. This causes a simple investigation to take longer than absolutely necessary. I feel like it has become less about the mystery and more about the tension between Heather, Amy and Detective Smith. This makes the story a little more trying than the previous book.
Looks like this is going to be another good series for Heather and family. New employees, new location and we may get a tour about places some of us have just dreamed of. Looking forward to the next installment
Amy wants to go scuba diving so bad and Heather finally gives in so they are off on a double date to dive but things go horribly wrong before their toes even touch the water.
Another great book by Susan. Love reading about Heather and the gang. Always look forward to another donut creation and mystery. Cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
This is proving to be as good if not better than the old donut mysteries. Everyone moving together was brilliant and it looks like the family is expanding with the new bakery staff. Love it
Once again Heather finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery while trying to learn to scuba dive! Who did it? That's what you need to find out! Grab a cup of coffee and a donut and relax to this little mystery!
Heather and Amy are interviewing candidates for the new Donut Delights-Key West shop. Amy really wants to learn to scuba dive, so Heather, Ryan, Amy and Jamie go learn how. Well they thought that was what would happen! The instructor dies. Accident or Murder? Another case for Heather and Amy. Lily starts her first day of school, will she make new friends? Fun, enjoyable read in the new location of Key West with all my favorite characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Things are moving right along for Heather, Amy and their family and friends in their new home in Key West. The new shop, Donut Delights-Key West hasn't opened for business yet as they are still interviewing candidates for the new openings. Lilly is starting her first day at school and Heather and Amy decide to take on a new hobby. Yes, even amongst all this there will be a new murder to solve. I am enjoying the new location the author moved us all to. I am finding it enjoyable to learn more about a place I have never been.
