Love in La La land
Excited to be in glitzy, glamorous Hollywood, English author, Jane Jones, is thrilled by the prospect of seeing a scene from her novel being filmed. And not just any scene. It’s a bedroom one, starring screen heartthrob, Scott Flynn.
Too bad, she is accompanied by the cynical Jack Clancy, the screenwriter who has – in her opinion – ruined her story, and seems totally unrepentant.
Dazzled by Scott’s film-star presence, Jane swoons at his feet. At least, that’s according to Scott, who immediately comes to her rescue. And so does Jack.
But do they both have ulterior motives? Is Jane a mere pawn in a game between two fierce rivals?

You're a writer. Your book gets made into a film! That's what dreams are made of. Young Jane Jones from the UK is that writer and her first day on the Hollywood set sees her whisked off to heart-throb star of the silver screen, Scott Flynn's super-millionaire mansion.
This book is such fun, not only the plot, but the loveable characters who made me laugh out loud, especially Jane's very British expressions that no-one understands. Not forgetting, of course, the setting, the likes of which I'll never see personally so will have to read about it. It's a warm and funny page-turner and I'm hoping (pretty please) for another...a series?

A world of glitz and glam is delivered straight from La La Land. I loved the contrast between the leading lady Jane and her male admirers. I liked the depth of character offered as the plot unfolded. Jane is in Hollywood to witness a scene from her book being filmed. Whilst she’s in Hollywood she might as well attempt to secure another film deal for her second book... but she gets a little more than she was bargaining for from a certain gent.
Highly recommended.

Lynn Forth captures the essence of modern day Hollywood and bottles it in this highly entertaining story of love, loss, ambition at all costs, and deceit. Besides some epically funny moments though, the author highlights the very topical subject of male supremacy, making this an important read in the current tidal wave of silence breakers. One thing is for sure: there truly is nowhere like Tinseltown...

I loved this book! If you enjoy feel good romance stories then this is the book for you. It has Hollywood glamour, film sets, family feuds and sexy leading men and women. I couldn't put it down and read it over two days.
The main character, Jane, doesn't know her own worth, but it's interesting to travel with her on her journey of self-discovery. There are heroes and villains in this story and I was left feeling really glad that I had picked this book up. A sweet and beautifully written romance.

This book is delightful escapism! Who hasn't wondered what it would be like to mingle with the famous in Hollywood? I liked the heroine, Jane, with her grounded Yorkshire roots and was rooting for her when the going got tough. I fell in love with the hero - which is the sign of a good romance story. This book is the perfect antidote to the tread mill of real life.

This quick read would be great for taking on holiday or for someone who wants a ‘one-sitting’ read. The dialogue flows nicely; the characters are likeable within an exceptionally ideal and slightly naïve situation. Jane’s meteoric rise to fame and fortune as a novelist with her debut novel being turned into a film is definitely the food of fiction! Having been to Los Angeles, the setting is redolent of the hot balmy air and the luxurious plantings around the mansions of the rich. However, I was left with some plot questions that remained unanswered. At times, I wanted to shake Jane out of her gullibility. And Jack? The author keeps him enigmatic but I wanted to know a bit more about his current status, financial and domestic. There were quite a few situations that seemed improbable in the novel and left me wondering. Why did Jane have to go through the 'almost tourist' route to get into the film 'lot'. As the original author I'd have expected her to have much better communication with the script writer. Of course, maybe that depends on what sort of contract is signed! Note to self and other authors- beware of the 'tiny writing' clauses in your film contract! (*wink) and (* sigh) The sigh being that few authors find themselves in Jane's position!

Yorkshire lass in America .
What a story!
I really enjoyed this book. All the characters stood out a lot for me ! Whether it was for a bad or good reason nothing was a dull moment. I especially love how the main protagonist is a Yorkshire lass in Hollywood i mean....there is a MASSIVE stark contrast there that I enjoyed. and her being fought over by these two hunky guys she would NEVER have thought ? Was amazing lmao
Anyway...I would of given it a 5 but the last few chapters seemed rushed and cringy. I mean Jack calling her 'darling this' and 'my love ' I just thought was a complete character change for a broading / sexually silent but observant guy like him...I mean...I know his in love and all but did he have to act like that ? Lol. And I just thought the last chapter was just rushed and a bit unrealistic but whatever. A good story up to that little point. Enjoyed it! and I wish there was a book 2 talking about the family.

A fascinating journey to Hollywood, viewing it from the eyes of English writer Jane Jones. From her first trip to the movie set, where she clashes with screen writer Jack, who she wastes no time in criticising for the changes he made to her beloved book that is being filmed by her favourite heartthrob Scott, to her first Hollywood party, where she discovers not everything is as it seems in the land of glitter and glamour.
Thrown unexpectedly into Scott’s company, Jane finds herself deep into a Hollywood adventure of her own, that easily could be a movie in its own right!
I loved her down to earth Yorkshire character and how very formal she came across in standing up for herself and book. It was hilarious seeing Scott ( who let’s face it , isn’t the sharpest tool in the box) trying to understand Janes very English accent and phrases.
Jack was a brilliant character too, you go from disliking him to rooting for him, when you find out his background and see his obvious attraction to Jane grow.
Some unexpected moments kept me enthralled and I loved the chance to meet and hear about Jane’s rather extended family. You learn so much as to why Jane acts the way she does around men and why she has such a low opinion of herself. It was truly heartwarming to see her blossom.
I do hope there will be another in this series.

Oozing Hollywood drama. 4/5 stars.

From the title, readers of Love in La La Land will probably be hoping for a tale with plenty of glitz and glamour, oodles of drama, attractive people and beautiful locations… and they won’t be disappointed! This story is a getaway, a rare chance for us “normals” to mingle with the rich and famous, just as it is for the female main character, Jane, who is an earthy Yorkshire lass out of her element in the luxurious but shark-infested waters of Hollywood.
Speaking of the sharks, this story does have plenty of shadier elements to balance the bright lights. Most relevantly, in the wake of #MeToo and #TimesUp, the narrative touches on the seedier side of the movie industry, with elements which feel frighteningly realistic and topical.
The story alternates between Jane and Jack’s viewpoints, giving us insight into their developing feelings as the initial grumpy friction between them turns into something more significant. While the heroine thinks of herself as a quintessential “Plain Jane”, this isn’t a typical Cinderella or ugly duckling story. Her integrity remains laudably unassailable and she is ultimately more concerned with her family and staying true to herself than her feelings for the hero, something which is refreshing and great to see in a whirlwind romance story.
Overall: fun escapism for readers who’d enjoy an insiders view of Tinseltown and some time with a gorgeous hero!

Unfortunately I didn't like the book. At some point I was thinking of maybe to give it two stars but when finished I tried to think of one thing I may have liked about this book and turns out it was nothing. Except that I managed to read it fast.
I didn't like the characters. They are either bland or formulaic. I couldn't stand the low self esteem of Jane. I noticed this is a common characterstics of women in romances. I get that it is probably because this are escape books and it should show that no matter how low you think about yourself you may get that amazing man. Sometimes it doesn't bother me too much when the story is good but here it did.
The story is boring. It is a typical romance formula. You know who she will be with. And in such books what happens in between is what matters. But not much was happening. And when certain action happened it was too short. And the ending was way too rushed. Basically it took them 25 chapters talking and trying to get together and in two chapters they managed to make all important decisions plan all their lives ahead.
So I liked neither the characters, nor action nor structure. Not for me.

Loved the setting of this novel, and the storyline which is woven around the tarnished glitter of Hollywood. Very topical.
Jane Jones , our English heroine, experiences the sleazy side of the film industry when the book she has written is turned into a film. A great fun story to curl up and relax with.
Oh, and who wouldn’t fall for gorgeous Jack Clancy, one of the good guys, and a very worthy hero.

A very entertaining read, amusing and with some surprising twists. One for those who love a proper romance sprinkled with Hollywood glitz.
