Okay, where to begin. In Search of Pride really started with Carnal Twilight. I loved that little story. It was dreamy, erotic, and full of romance and heartache. In Search, that story between Brenn and Ciara continues on. But the reader is never given the time to get ready for their difficulties ahead, or what these two lovers have to go through to fulfill their mating.
Brenn has to keep Ciara's presence a secret, for there is a stigma to dragons. Fortunately, that is soon resolved after Brenn's companions shed their initial fears and realize their fortune in Ciara's presence. As a dragon, she is truly fierce and magical and protects Brenn to the point of risking her own life. The love between the two is obvious, not just in their thoughts or actions, or the erotic scenes. Ciara does what she could in her capacity, while Brenn does the same, in his capacity.
The thing is: they can never be truly together. Think starcrossed lovers at this point in their story. It is disappointing, it is thrilling, it moves their romance to heights that make you, as a reader, demand they get over their difficulties soon because their love is real and deserves so much more. But the road is perilous and your heart aches. Brenn and Ciara deserve so much more than what they're served.
The writing duo that is Taryn Jameson and Gabriella Bradley succeeded in giving us a story that is not only plot driven, but imagery driven. I have never, in my reading and reviewing, wanted to see more of the monsters that place the characters' lives in danger. I mean, I actually wanted to read more about these monsters, wanted them to kill more just because I want to read how Brenn and his companions would deal with the dangers they encounter. The introduction of other characters also provides a glimpse of what is to come in the future installments.
I love this series, and I can't wait for the next installments. I need and crave the fulfillment of a love story set in a fantastical planet where magic and science work hand in hand.

My copy of this book contained the prequel titled Carnal Twilight. I couldn’t tell where the novella ended the first book began. It moved seamlessly into the main story and there was no disruption of my enjoyment of the story. For me the book only took a few hours to get through and I was so ready to have my enjoyment to continue.
Brenn Mildash is a man who can’t believe his good fortune. Ciara doesn’t seem to think that she has any chance at happiness. Their story reads as if it could be set in medieval times but then you will realize that it can’t be. This is one great thing about fantasy – the possibilities are endless.
Loved how something I enjoy just about every day made it into the story. It was interesting how things we may take for granted can be added in and how the choices are infinite as to what authors may decide will fit into a scene. In science fiction and fantasy there are really no boundaries to an author’s imagination. And since there are two authors with this series, there must be twice as many.
I knew that the pages were flying by but even though the book came to an end the story was not. At that last page I was so glad I had a chance to enjoy this ride that these authors have created. This is an experience that can’t be bounced around but must be experienced in order. It was also a reminder as to what I loved about the original Star Trek series – could picture this as an episode. Now I’m ready to experience “the final frontier”.

This story starts off with a bang, and boy what a smoking bang it was! The world is a combination of what current Earth dwellers call old and new, and reading about their technology and species was so much fun. Ms. Jameson and Ms. Bradley did a great job with introducing us to Brenn, his family, and his friends. I just started Book 2 of the series, The Dragon's Lion, and it is just as action packed.
Highly recommended. Great job, ladies! Five stars.

The longer length really showed what the authors could create. It’s a fantasy world filled with rich description. Ciara is a great character. She’s a dragon with as much fierceness as the guys in this book but also a sweetness when it comes to Brenn. http://thetbrpile.weebly.com/reviews/...

This was my first shifter tale, and I had no idea what to expect. Honestly, I went in skeptical that I would like it, but I loved every word, especially the nuanced handling of the characters Brenn and Ciara (and others), each of whom seemed to live and breathe. I'm adding the others to my summer TBR!

Brenn swore under his breath. Everything had been as it should on his travels home after he’d left the Clyss. No attacks, everything normal. Why the sudden interest in their realm? The Toubosians had sent several ships, but only one craft had attacked the village and abducted all the occupants? During his travels, he’d heard nothing, no rumors of alien attacks, of spaceship sightings. Would they really send several ships to capture the people from one village? Had the ships returned to Toubos? He doubted it. He had a feeling the ships were hiding somewhere in the far mountain range south of their village—planning another attack?
Were the Toubosians in league with Cewrick, the evil sorcerer who had placed the curse on all shifters? The sorcerer’s castle stood on the highest peak in the center of the Sucronian Mountains, a forbidden mountain range. No one dared to approach it. At the base of the mountains was the Verboten Forest. Its trees were said to have been bespelled by Cewrick and would kill anything or anyone treading the ground below. Large black dragons guarded the castle, along with urcals, giant birds with wingspans as wide as the road in his village. They, too, were black. Their beaks were a bright orange, curved and very sharp, their claws so big they could easily pick up several horses in one swoop, their talons an arm’s length long, and their eyes like glowing embers.

Book one in the Crimson Realm Chronicles series a well written story but it does end on a cliff-hanger. I want to read the next book. There is suspense, drama, danger, a very evil man, curses, a dragon and lion, and love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The book was well written and the characters very likable, but it just didn't grab me. I had to make myself finish the book.

This was a great start to a story that promises to be exciting and wonderful! Brenn Mildash returns from a war far from his home to find his village destroyed and his pride missing. With a curse limiting him to half the warrior he should be, a beautiful dragon has to rescue him twice as he sets out on an awesome adventure to find his people, and by then he finally realizes his protection is coming from his guardian dragon, Ciara.
This was an exciting book that I highly recommend. The characters are well defined and likable, and the story line is fast-paced and exhilarating. The twists and turns keep up the suspense and the reader will love the surprises along the way!
