This book offers two parts- the main guide and the backpack guide. The main guide divides the state into four regions and lists hiking and nature trails within each region. You can quickly check the trail's within each region. Detailed maps, featuring some topographical maps, show you the trails, facilities, actual distances, and points of scenic and historical interest.
There are no trans-Texas trails in the state but there are numerous hiking trails predominately in state parks, national forests, and the few national parks. Some require overnight trips. Each of these trails are described and have a simple map. Although published in 1990, the book has useful information for the hiker.
