About the author

Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

On Father's Day, the little girl's mom sent her off with her dad for a hike while she stayed hoe. For Mother's Day, mom drags dad along for a bicycle outing and picnic with the little girl and her puppy. Seems like there's a double standard here about who gets to enjoy some puppy- and child-free me-time.

The little girl's parents both seem pretty down at certain moments during the two holidays.

Oh, and there's a cute puppy.

The children enjoyed this book. It has a picture of the dog Biscuit on every page with a fold out. It shows the little girl really thinking of what her mother would like for Mother’s day

MY REVIEW:

This book cute book in the Biscuit Series is a perfect way to introduce and talk to your children about the meaning of Mother's Day. It's a sweet story featuring the little girl and her adorable puppy, Biscuit, and how they spend the day with Mommy. Each page has a flap that allows interaction and fun. My kids enjoyed the cute antics of Biscuit and thinking about what they could do for Mother's Day!
