Madison has a new sheriff in town and the guys from Kennedy Ink, are determined to call him a friend, whether he likes it or not. Secretly, we think he does, though, it's tough to get him to show it. At a charity auction for Ms. Jay, he meets Foster...
Foster found himself in town on a whim and stayed, much like Wade did, some months ago. Finding himself in situation after sticky situation, the one who seems to pop up more often than not, is the new sheriff in town. With molten gray eyes and a burly beard, Foster finds himself attracted to said sheriff. Unfortunately, a boyfriend who soon becomes an ex, is causing trouble and Foster needs the sheriff's help, again.
With troubled pasts on both of their ends, and a newly ended relationship; do these two have what it takes to go after the thing that feels right, or will fear and bad timing keep them apart?
Come on, now, you know I only have love and happy endings in my books. There might also be big news for Kingsley and Morgan... you'll just have to read and see :) Come catch up with these inked up boys from Madison, and see who's next!
Jenny Wood- Stay at home mom with two amazing kids and the most supportive, ridiculously good looking, husband. :P My love of writing comes from my love of reading and I count myself incredibly lucky to live in a place where I can do what I love and hopefully, make some people happy while I do it.
Wade and Foster's story was a welcomed addition to the Kennedy Ink series and definitely one of my favourite books of the bunch.
As always, I simply adored the familial bonds this fun-loving and always accepting group of men share. They make new friends with ease and are always eager to expand their happy family. They often gravitate towards men who they identify with (from personal experiences); one's who are largely alone in this world and are clearly in need of people to call friends and family.
Here, Foster is welcomed into the group like he's always belonged, which is a sweetly moving experience to witness, considering his teenage years spent on the streets and his early twenties eagerly searching for love and simple companionship. In the now large Kennedy clan Foster finds new friends, but also, more importantly, a romantic interest in Wade, who himself has only recently been brought into the family fold, and who still struggles with the negative after effects of his previous years deployed in the military.
Together these two men make for a sweet and heart-warming pair, providing a warmth and solace both men desperately need. Although the story is quite short, I felt all I needed to feel in order to endear me to these guys and wish for their HEA.
Even though there were still many noticeable editing issues here, I strongly feel that the number of such errors is substantially fewer than in the books that came before. I find this promising and wish Jenny Wood all the best as she continues to develop her writing skills further. With the introduction of potential MCs in the form of Foster's boss, Anderson Skye, and sexy doctor Nathan, I doubt Wood is done here yet — whether they get a story together or a story each, I'm certainly not complaining and will eagerly return for more Kennedy clan action.
Now this one I liked! I thought I was done with this series, but I’m glad Meags told me to just read this one. And it was a winner.
Sheriff Raylan Wade (Wade for everyone) was introduced in the last book when he moved to the small town where the rest of our heroes live. And since Wade was all alone, they adopted him.
Here he meets 25 year old Foster, who’s had quite the hard life. They meet at a fundraiser where Wade was dragged to by his friends, and Foster is a waiter.
Foster doesn’t really believe that the gorgeous man might be interested in him, since he hasn’t had the best of luck in the relationship department. His last boyfriend turned out to be a complete dick who also had a fiancée on the side.
But when Wade and Foster spend more time together Foster slowly starts to believe that Wade really is interested in him..
This was very sweet. I loved Foster and I actually liked Wade more than I thought I would. Foster deserved someone like Wade after that asshole Jeffrey to show him how love could be.
So, it seems I’m not quite done with Jenny Wood’s books. Yay, more hurt/comfort goodness!
(See, I wasn't even that bothered by the grammatical errors this time)
I loved both Wade and Foster and I think they were great together. But, this really wasn't one of my favorites of the series. I felt it was a little rushed especially in the end and the "baddie" swept under the rug a little too easily. I was surprised who it was but the way it was executed was anti-climatic and left me feeling unfulfilled. I'm looking forward to the twins though!! As always, I will definitely be picking up the next one because these are my guilty pleasure reads.
Re-read Nov. 16, 2023 Re-read April 28, 2020 *** Another marvelous Kennedy Ink story !*** We met big Wade,30, when he got a memorial tattoo for his fallen friend and fellow Marine. He enjoys being a cop in this nice town. He meets Foster through the Kennedy men and their tight knit group.
Foster, 25, has had a hard life, and longs to be a baker.
This will be Wade's first chance to be openly gay, and it's Foster that draws him in, with his terrific voice and good looks. Wade is there to help when Foster is hit by a car with a texting teen. They begin to date, and different things are happening.
We get to learn more about this unique pair. This whole series has magnificent characters we get to see over and over. Wade is wonderful, and Foster deserves a good man, and good times in his life. They are SO exciting with their sexy times!
Check this one out. You'll like it as much as I did. Thank you dear Jenny Wood. These tales are always worthwhile, no cheating, and a happy ending with lots to look forward to. I highly recommend it ! ENJOY !
============ Thanks sweet Allison for the rec ! =================
My least favourite book of the series... :( And I was soooo looking for Wade's story... :(
Don't get me wrong: Wade was a very closed and tough ex-soldier and Foster was a sweet and likeable waiter/baker guy but...
Unfortunately, I had some issues with this book:
- I didn't feel the chemistry between them... They simply started being together.
- I have no clue how the law enforcement system works in the US, but I really truly wouldn't want my local policeman/sheriff to have PTSD and Combat Stress Reactions... :( Is it really possible in the US to hire someone with such problems as a law enforcer?
- the usual typo mistakes, including mistaken names happen in this one too. It really disturbs my reading, you know? :(
I keep reading these books even though I always say with each one "this is the last one for me" but they are a little addictive because I want to know what happens with the original characters. I did like Wade & Foster, although figuring out who the "bad guy" was ...was pretty easy. In addition, I really am over authors putting a chapter of a different book at the end of a story. So you think the book you are reading is longer, when really it's likely more about getting more a bigger chunk of the Amazon "kitty"... I mean seriously, at this point in the series why do we need chapter one of book one at the end of the story? Pretty sure everyone has read it. In my opinion it would have been nicer if the author would have given us an actual epilogue instead of a small tease and a "wait until next book" - that is what turned me off reading serial style stories which is what this series has become. There really was so much more that could have been explored in this storyline, a character with PTSD - and it's not even brushed on, even with a flashback occurring; I was dissappointed- but again, this series is a guilty pleasure and I do enjoy seeing what Kayson & Kennedy are up to
Wade and Foster are cute together. Both have their insecurities that they need to address just like everyone else at Kennedy Ink. I can't wait until King and Morgan get their babies. Not ready for the series to end yet.
I’ve said this multiple times - This whole series reads like the author chucked the draft into a tornado, hit “publish,” and said, “They’ll figure it out.”Book 1 - review
Okay, listen. I wanted to love this book - I really did. After vibing with the previous ones in the series, I went in with my little hopeful heart all ready to be wrecked (in the best way). But what I got instead… Girl. No. This was seriously the worst ending of the series so far. I’m talking about a full-on, “wait, THAT’S IT?!” moment that had me blinking at the last page like it personally betrayed me.
Wade and Foster - Adorable. So much potential. I was fully onboard the emotional rollercoaster, ready for swoons and healing and maybe some mutual character growth. But just as things were starting to get good - BAM. The story basically ghosted me. Rushed ending, no real closure, and it felt like we skipped several emotional steps along the way.
And let’s talk about the PTSD storyline for a hot second: blink and you miss it. It’s like the book brought up this massive, meaningful topic and then went, “Anywayyy…” Like, ma’am. You cannot drop something that serious and then treat it like a quirky subplot. Give it the damn space it deserves.
So yeah, I’m salty. I was ready to feel all the things, but instead I was left with a weird mix of “aww” and “wait, what just happened?” That said...am I still going to read the next book in the series? Oh, absolutely. I'm too deep in now. This series has its claws in me, and I need to know what happens next.
I can't decide who is my favorite is Kinsley and Morgan, Finn and Jay, or Wade and Foster maybe all of them. I love this series because of well developed characters who I fall in love with coupled with a good story line. I'm not one to give anything away as far as plot but I will say this these are stories I read again and again, yes they are that good! Bring on the next gorgeous man!
OH EM GEE!!! I feel like I've waited forever on this! I literally jumped for joy when it went live!!!
I loved Wade, he's our alpha, and I know that mostly our guys are vers, in this one, Wade is TOP and ooooh what a good one he was. Foster had a boyfriend, but he's easily hatable and he gets rid of him quickly, thank goodness! It seems like the universe pushes these two together and it happens in the most amazing and realistic way. I agree with everyone else. your stories are so relatable, they're so real. I cannot stand stories that I read and I'm like....yeah, that'd never happen. But yours are so real. I LOVE THAT!
I also love how you incorporate the other guys from the series because I have been waiting on news from Morgan and King for so long. I'm so, so, so happy that things are working out for them and I CANNOT wait for their continued story. Can we have it next please?
If you read anything from this author, you may complain about grammar or punctuation, but who freakin cares? Read the story!! Get enveloped in it and delve in the story of the people. I love where eeryone started and I love where everyone ended up and I can't wait for more!
I want Murphy and Anderson and Cruz and yes, even asshole, Jeffery. this series could go on and on and on and I could never get bored. I love you so much! Please keep it up! Keep going and keep me informed!!! 5 well deserved stories from me!
This was book 6 in the "Kennedy Ink " series. Foster Wells has been through a lot he ran away at 14 from his drug addicted mother and survived by living on the streets he put himself through college his dream is to open a bakery. He has a boyfriend who is not always nice to him or thoughtful of his feelings. While working catering for an event that the Kennedy boys are involved with when he sees his boyfriend with a woman. Wade who is a county sheriff who the guys befriended can't stop staring at the cute waiter. Wade who was in the Marines has PTSD and being in crowds trigger his flashbacks. Things get worse for Foster when he is hit by a car. His nurse turns out to be Cam and the guys befriend him. This was a good read I liked both of these characters. When Foster begins getting letters and someone spray paints his door Wade is there to help him. I was glad when his ex Jeffery showed up and apologized to him and explained why he was with the woman and to tell him that it wasn't him sending him letters I figured it out. This was a good read and I liked that the editing in this book was better. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I didn't cry with this one, but it was just as amazing. Longer and filled with more between the two. I loved how realistic your characters are. They're so relatable and likeable. I loved both of them and I was so happy it worked out. I also loved the surprised with Kingsley and Morgan PLEASE tell me we get a book of their continued journey!! I need to see the emotion behind what happens and how they get to where they are!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!! Awesome addition to an awesome series ;)
I'm addicted to this series. Jenny Wood is my go to for hurt/comfort these days and I've already re-read several of her books. I know I'll be re-reading Wade in the near future, too.
I have loved this whole series so far. Two more books to go. The author states in the beginning that there would probably be typos etc., but it would be nice if she had a better beta reader. I still gave the story 5 stars. This author is excellent at bringing the emotions of her characters to.
Once again the same scheme, delicate boy in trouble and tattooed big hairy men, who save his whole world. Nice, but too predictable. And the book cover.... so scary!
Okay, yeah. Can't binge read these. They start boring me and I lose the uniqueness of the characters in the angsty miscommunications or minor crises or misunderstandings, which really isn't fair to the books or the author. They're fun to read and the stories are good, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. It wears off the shine.
I'll be reading these one at a time in between other reads when I need a break from the super miserable stuff. These are sweet and edgy and good for a day where you need believable conflicts without things being too terribly heavy or wrenching.
I liked Wade and I liked Foster, but I LOVED them together. Both were lonely souls but they didn't get together because they were lonely...they just slowly fell in love. It was sweet to read about and just a really good story. The conflict of the book was a little anti-climatic, I kind of wanted more but sometimes a good love story with little angst is what you need. My mind was totally out in left field because it should have been easy to see who was making the threats...but for some reason my mind kept saying it was the doctor he saw....I dunno...maybe he will get a book soon ;-)
Without doubt my favourite book in the series. I loved Wade and Foster and they seemed perfectly suited together, and although it's a bit instalove-y it doesn't at all feel false or rushed. What's more, the integral cast of other characters from earlier books make this seem like such a comforting read, like reuniting with a bunch of friends after a while. Can't wait to see what the Kennedy clan get up to next.
Another great book in the series. Foster & Wade's story. I love them. I cant decide which book I love most at this point. The Editing errors mentioned in all the other books don't even bother me you can totally overlook them because the books are so good. BUT.... As a bonus. Lol. This one is edited soooo much better than the others.
This is another cute one from Jenny Wood. The storyline is familiar and there wasn’t a lot of new ground covered, but it was still really sweet and touching in the way that Wood knows how to deliver well.
I loved seeing the other guys and hearing their news, and it’s fun keeping up with this little “dream” town in Georgia!
This series is addictive. I can not wait to see what is next. I adore the fact you still get to see how previous characters and how their lives evolve. A great read for sure! :)
A totally feel-good, short story. Sweet, slow paced, sexy, fun... close to none angst and adorable HEA Can't go wrong with this for a brief, uplifting moment in time. Nothing wrong with those ^^
Foster is so cute and sweet that you want to take him home and keep him forever. That feeling hits Wade as soon as he meets him. Fabulous story of newfound love for a damaged man and his semi out sheriff, with a side of stalker thrown in.
To be honest this was a solid 4 stars or even 4.5 till about 60%... then it all (all besides Wade and Foster's relationship) felt a bit too rush especially with the "villain" of the story... it was a bit meh. Romance wise was pretty awesome but the rest not so much.
Love this series and this book! Wade and Foster were really good together! The boys were hilarious as ever and I love every one of them!!!!! Can't wait for the next book!!!
Hooked on the characters and story line through out this series...just wished this author thought enough about her readers to pay attention to the blatant editing errors...one more book to go...will stick to Kindle Unlimited after this..
This isn’t a all time favorite but it was a great read. I can’t wait to see some more from Jenny! I’m rereading all my favs from Jenny during quarantine. Now would be a perfect time for a new release! hint hint!
