Cathy Sharp is happily married and lives with her husband in a small Cambridgeshire village. They like visiting Spain together and enjoy the benefits of sunshine and pleasant walks, while at home they love their garden and visiting the Norfolk seaside.
Cathy loves writing because it gives pleasure to others, she finds writing an extension of herself and it gives her great satisfaction. Cathy says, 'There is nothing like seeing your book in print, because so much loving care has been given to bringing that book into being.'
Nice to read when you get your wisdom tooth pulled... It focuses mostly on the staff instead of the kids, which I found a bit disappointing. Not that much happening in the first half, the sexond half was quite enjoyable though :) Marvellous ending, I guess the only possible way to end this series, well done.
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I thought the narration was really good. A really enjoyable story that kept me listening till the end. Recommended.
When I purchased this book I didn't realize it was part of a series. Unfortunately the book itself showed no indication of this. It was still a good story which I found easy to read and enjoyed it thoroughly. The characters were all brought to life brilliantly. Just wish I had read the others in this series, as at times it refers to incidents that have happened in previous books and it's a bit odd to read the final book in a series when everything gets wrapped up without the knowledge of the other books. Will look for other books by this author.
A lovely book a great story including the staff and children of St Saviours in the east end of London.A story of love, hope and new beginings.Jinny,Nancy,Wendy,Rose and many before them have loved their time at the orphanage and have all moved on in life to pastures new. This book made me weepy as i had realised what was happening but i loved the series of books about St Saviours and have recomended them to others and if i could i would give them more than the 5*
One of the most beautiful, lovely and inspiring books ever! I fell in love with this book not wanting it to end, yet always wanting to turn the page over! I loved this book and would recommend to anyone! The story lines were lovely The way the author wrote it was amazing The characters you loved The ending was well done and all fished neatly! This is a book I will be buying (as I borrowed of from my library) as it is a book I would love to share with many! So glad I pick it up and read it as I didn’t know if I would enjoy it, but to me if you didn’t then there is something strange about u!
I don't know how I feel about this ending. Loved the character development as always, both old and new characters but felt like Sister Beatrice deserved a more heartfelt end after being one of the most loveable characters of the series, which didn't quite come across as well I felt was intended.
Seeing Billy and Mary-Ellen grown up and achieve their dreams was a nice touch, and seeing Nancy be able to overcome her trauma and build a happy life was what makes Sharp's work always a beautiful read.

I read this book a while ago and remember enjoying it as it was what I would call a 'Feel Good Book' you couldn't help but fall in love with the characters and kids in the book but all the way through it you knew that everything would end happily ever after. Predicatable but well written and an easy read. Sad in parts of course as about Child abuse.
This book was good. I will be happy to pass it on. I don’t think I will read it again. I do find this is a great story about what life was like for orphans back in the 1960s. I was interested in the stories of Jinny, Andy and Beth. I also think it is awesome that they tell of different types of love stories.
Throughly enjoyed the halfpenny orphans series, you really get to know and understand all the characters, I felt as though I knew them in real life! Very sad ending to the last book in the series but overall a very good book and I highly recommend this series!
I highly recommend this series of books. I really enjoyed everyone and was sad at the end of the last one. Will definitely be looking for more books by this author
