However much power you have, it’s never enough… in the Shattered Lands.
Dragons and the Demonomicon – the most complete volume of demon-summoning spells in the online RPG world of the Shattered Lands – weren’t enough for Eric.
In his quest for power, he’s summoned something he can’t control.
Now Eric and his allies march forth to war – and Daniel and Mira, a hero and a dark elf, are the only things standing in his path.
The game plays out in both the Shattered Lands and the real world, as crime begets crime and betrayal follows betrayal. But now there are new players in the drama, all with their own motives: a witch… a demon general from hell… and an artificial intelligence that is wreaking havoc in the game.
So log into the Shattered Lands…
Grab your weapon of choice…
And prepare for the battle of your life.
Shattered Lands 2: The Fall Of Blackstone is the second book in a LitRPG series.
Darren used to watch movies for a living. It's not as fun as it sounds. Now he writes the YA horror/comedy series PETER AND THE MONSTERS, about a 10-year-old boy who moves into his grandfather's creepy old mansion and bad, baaaaad things start to happen. PETER AND THE VAMPIRES (Volume One) is currently free on Amazon.
I liked this one even more than the first; I enjoyed the mix of video game-world and real-world action, and I had fun watching Eric "go bad," so to speak. I like Daniel the best, but the other gamers helping him have also become entertaining and interesting companions.
As I said with book 1, I'm not much of a gamer and haven't read many LitRPG's, but I know what I like and this is one of them!! It was so much fun to read and easy to understand.
So Eric has gone off the deep end, big time!! He isn't happy with whatever power he has managed to get, and decides to team up with the Unnamed One to become all powerful. Only thing is, the Unnamed One wants something in return. Will Eric do the unthinkable or can Daniel and Mira bring him back from the dark side, in both the game and the real world??
Here's me thinking that Eric can't get any worse, but boy was I proved wrong!! "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" has never been more true!! In the game, Eric is ruthless and it's up to Daniel and Mira to try to stop him, but in real life, Eric is showing just how ruthless he can be too.
I loved book 1 and this was just as good. It's not just a book about the game, it's more than that and we see it here! Eric is just a boy who has let the power get to him and when he's told that he could have power in the real world too, we see just how far he is willing to go. It was a fast paced and entertaining read.
In all, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was fast paced and entertaining. It was like watching a kids movie!! It was easy to read and flows well. The characters, both old and new, were easy to like and relatable, the plot was entertaining and I flew through it. It's a LitRPG that kids would enjoy, well my boys did. The all said it was a fun read and they would definitely read more about these characters.
There are dozens more books on amazon unlimited that are of far higher quality than this. The inconsistencies in character motivation are numerous and everyone keeps treating the game like real life. There are supposedly millions of people playing Shattered Lands with zero issues and this group of three friends can't play for five minutes without losing it.
