Girl Talk #2

Tempting Sophia

Rate this book
Having my heart broken once was enough to make me give up on the idea of love all together. Instead of searching for The One I decided to embrace variety and turn my back on monogamy. I made a living convincing women they didn’t need a man to feel complete.

And I totally rocked at it.

Until the man who shattered my happily ever after came waltzing back into my life, determined to make me fall for him all over again.

He claims that I’m the love of his life. He wants a second chance, and it seems like he’ll stop at nothing to tempt the hell out of me. But if Dominic Abbatelli thinks he can win me back with his puppy dog eyes, heartfelt apologies, and declarations of love then he’s...probably right.

Im feeling really bad when i rate one star, but i just can’t.
The hero and the heroine were together for four years four, not two, not one, four. Ok, they were young, in their twenties, but not high school young. They quarreled. After one of these fights the heroine tells the hero they are done, and when she comes back some days later he’s banging another woman in their house. Technically they were not together but FY. Four years together don’t mean a fugg to him apparently.
Ten years later.
The hero crawls out of his hole and decides to move near the heroine because he has decided he wants her back.
Just like that. The heroine pulls a bit of resistance but not hat much because he hot, so hot and she can’t resist him. Jesus, she’s 31 and acting like she’s 16. I just can’t.
There’s another ow drama because it looks like years before the hero hooked up with his father’s young mistress, not knowing she was his mistress of course, whatever.
Why I hated the book.
- no explanation and no apology from the hero for the fact that he had sex with another woman without even try to call the heroine father their fight. Even knowing he broke her and that ten years later she’s still hurting for it he never said he regretted it. This is not only wrong, it’s ridiculous. Since he tells he can’t live without her anymore and yada yada he should at least apologize and explain why he went straight to have sex with another woman after their fight. If he so loved her he should have called her.
- he turns up ten years later and tells her he wants her back because he can’t live without her. Why now? Why wait ten years? Why didn’t he come back before if he sooo missed her? Why didn’t he try to get her back before? Never explained.
- He expects that she trusts him after they have sex the first time and he behaves like a little bitch because she asks him to wait and be patient. What did the heroine find in someone like him? He’s 35 but he’s immature, selfish and childish.
- I am so fed up with men telling with broken voices how much they loved the heroine and how much they missed her but they keep banging other women like there’s no tomorrow. It’s insulting.
- the heroine has severe TBS which I hate. She’s over 30 yo. She acts like she never saw one. Please, don’t.
- only joy in life here the heroine had a good sex life and multiple partners after the hero. Of course they couldn’t compare but she enjoyed sex in a way. The hero well, of course he had other women starting from when the heroine fought with him and left.
- nothing important is explained here. And this is the reason for my one star. Not him banging another woman, not ten years separation, not the reason why he decided to come back to her in that exact moment. No nothing. The book was all over the place because such things are the basis of this book, his cheating, their separation, his turning up after 10 years. Why. Who knows.
It looks like the heroine eventually even blame herself because she was immature and selfish. But it was him who cheated or t least who didn’t wait for her. Apparently she wasn’t worth waiting for not even a few day, or weeks. Sad but true…

Tempting Sophia is one of my absolute favorite enemies-to-lovers, second chance romances. The banter between Sophia and her friends, the angst, and the sexiness that is Dominic Abbatelli made this a book I couldn’t put down!

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartfelt romance by Jessica Prince. It was such a refreshing read. Light and amusing, with a little bit of angst, you couldn’t help but smile and hope that Dominic breaks through the ice surrounding Sophia’s heart, that she finds a way to forgive him for everything and that she listens to her own heart and not her head.

Sophia was a hoot right from the beginning. She told it like it was, stood up for herself and her friends and knew how to give advice. The one thing she didn’t do was get too deeply involved with any man. She learned her lesson with Dominic and was not about to make the same mistake twice. Until the radio station decides she’s the perfect one to prove that looks don’t matter if two people were meant to be together.

As for Dominic, well, he has a lot of explaining to do. A lot of groveling to do. A lot of lost time to make up. But, how do you do that with a woman who hates you? Step 1 – become friends. Step 2 – hope that she let you get under her skin. Step 3 – Don’t screw up again. Well, 1 and 2 worked, too bad he didn’t learn from his mistakes in the past and step 3 happens bringing everything to a crashing halt. Now, the groveling begins again and he hopes that she really understands when his biggest secret is revealed.

I took a tragedy to bring these two together. But, even during that, I had to smile and laugh. Loved, loved, loved Sophia’s right hook!

I really did smile through most of this story. Jessica Prince wrote a light-hearted romantic comedy that had me reading page after page just waiting for whatever was going to happen next. I loved the e-mails (which did remind me of You Got Mail) and looked forward to them throughout the story, especially the final ones. And Dominic and Sophia were surrounded by a wonderful group of people … Lola was one hyperactive person with a huge heart and dream of Sophia being her sister … Grayson knew just how to corral Lola and was definitely pro-Dominic … Daphne was just Daphne. All together, they made this story fun and interesting.

I liked the first story more.
All it took was the hero go near her and she gets so crazy about sex that her brain has stopped working.
She didn't seem that woman which was described in the first book. Looks more like a teenager who never got over being cheated by the former boyfriend and became bitter.
And the hero seemed a man used to having things his way and find it difficult to accept the opinions of others. A little boy trying to please his father.
Both explode first and damn the consequences.
I guess I just wasn't in the mood to read this story. Didn't work for me.
I hope the next is better.

"Well, I got to walk in on the love of my life giving the business to a chick who was not me while he had her bent over the back of the couch."

"I was able to walk away from a nearly four-year relationship was because I’d left one of them with a bloody nose and the other with a huge bald spot."

4.5 Fantastic Stars!
Review by Lisa Kane

On the surface, Sophia has it all-a successful radio program, a beautiful home and a nice income. She has the support of her two best friends, Lola and Daphne and life is good. But ten years ago, Dominic Abbatelli, the older brother of Lola, was her reason for existing. For years, she pined over this gorgeous man, knowing he thought of her only as his little sister’s best friend.

Dominic Abattelli, the older brother of one of my best friends, and the most gorgeous man to ever walk the planet. He was four years older than me, already out of high school by my freshmen year. But that didn’t stop me from falling, and falling hard.

Until he saw her in a different light. Suddenly, he realized that she wasn’t a kid anymore and he felt the same way she did. That is until it all fell apart and Sophia walked in to his apartment and found him screwing another girl.

Ten years. Ten long years of living on the opposite side of the country from Dom. Seattle is hers, Manhattan is his and she has never given in to her feelings for him.

And I discovered that it was much easier and a lot less messy to keep a handful of men on my hook as random bed partners than it was to ever get into another relationship.

He shattered her and Lola has respected the boundaries Sophia placed between her and her brother. That is until Dom comes crashing back into her life, determined to get her back.

I hadn’t heard that name in years. I should’ve been over it, but hearing him call me “butterfly” again after almost a decade still caused a lump to form in my throat.

Now before you close your mind off to Dom, put down the pitchforks and know that there are two sides to every story. Frankly, I would have liked a little more insight into Dom’s version of those events, but since it is dual POV’s we know his thoughts now and I challenge you not to be seduced by him. He has always adored Sophia and has spent ten years regretting the way things ended for them. But this time he will get the girl.

“My little butterfly,” he said softly, coming to stand directly behind me. “Always flitting around, never content to stay in one place for long.”

Tempting Sophia is funny and angsty and has some really sad moments. I loved the story so much I went back and read the first one in the series, Seducing Lola and it is just as good. Now there is Daphne’s story to be told, and believe me, I want to know it!

“I want you under my skin for eternity, and I want to be under yours for just as long.”

MY RATING: 4/5

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

After reading the first in the series, Tempting Sophia had to be a must-read under my list. Jessica Prince is an indie star everyone must pay attention because she writes these fun and sexy and comedic novels anyone can just slip into. Tempting Sophia definitely was one of those reads!

Let's start off with the fact that this book follows the troupe of second chance love. I know. It sucks because that means these two idiots we call our hero and heroine royally messed up before we even started the book and now they're finding their way back to each other. I really liked seeing Sophia and Dominic interacting with each other and building their relationship and trust back with each other.

Dominic needed to take it slow with Sophia because she completely lost trust in him after he broke her with the incident that ultimately destroyed them. Although Dominic took it slow, he had every right to be angry when Sophia seemed to be hiding their relationship and I loved how Sophia admitted that she was wrong too.

MY RECOMMENDATION:
YUP GO READ IT!

Second chance can be a lot of fun, especially when there is some tension with the couple and a reason that they are not able to avoid one another.

Sophia and Dominic are exes, although the reason they are in the past is a little tough to initially swallow, it is in character for Sophia so I was able to mostly let it go...and then they are thrown together by Dominic refusing to walk away and refusing to let them end all over again.

I liked that this was in dual POV, so it let you see how Dominic feels and the reasons he has decided that now is the time to get back with Sophia.

I thought the writing was strong overall, and aside from not totally believing the event that caused the initial break up, I was mostly able to engage with the characters. I liked them, and I wanted them to work things out. I liked that Dominic was honorable (yes, really) and that he is in love with Sophia, and lets her know, and shows her, and is determined to make sure that it works out for them.

I recommend this title overall.

The one thing that was screaming in my head while I read the first few pages of this book that I just couldn't finish:

ross geller

I also kept screaming to Sophia:
(1) Why are you still friends with Lola?! She betrayed you by not letting you know that her rat-ass brother was bidding on her in a bachelorette auction.
(2) Stop falling for his shit.

And Dominic was just full of it. Never hated a book hero more.

The author's prose did not help either. She wanted Dominic to sound like an alpha he-man, but he always came off as an A-class jerk to me. Never reading another one of her books.

I really enjoyed SEDUCING LOLA and part of that was the relationship Lola had with her brother Dom.  So when I saw that Dom and Sophia were getting their own story, I was practically bouncing with glee.

Sophia always had a thing for best friend Lola's brother, Dom.  And her dreams came true when she and Dom started dating while she was in college.  But then her temper and stubbornness and Dom's quick temper led to their relationship collapsing in horrific style.  Fast forward ten years later and Sophia is forced to deal with Dom, when all she's managed to do all these years was run.

I liked Sophia and Dom separately, but there came a time in this book where I had to question just how much longer Dom was going to put up with Sophia's BS.  I get that she felt he'd cheated.  I could understand how hurt her feelings were.  But at some point she had to admit that she had a teensy tiny part of the blame, seeing as it was her temper that set them down their path.  And that's what bugged me with Sophia.  Despite knowing she still loved Dom, she didn't own up to her own part.  She'd rather place blame than admit she was wrong too.  Believe me, Dom wasn't a saint.  It wasn't like he was sitting at home waiting for Sophia to forgive him.  But at least he could admit he was wrong.

Despite wanting to strangle Sophia, at times, this was still a good read.  It wasn't as funny as SEDUCING LOLA, but it had the perfect mix of angst and humor to keep me glued to it until the very end.

I really enjoyed Tempting Sophia love all of Jessica Prince stories every time I see she has a new one coming out can't wait to get my greedy hands on it . This can be read as a standalone but while you are one clicking this you should check out seducing Lola (sister of the hero best friend of the heroine) and I can't wait to read the next one we get a little tease at the end of this and I'm already craving it . Tempting Sophia is a second chance romance I felt that we needed a bit more information to the reason of why what happened happened it kinda felt glazed over , if you've watched friends then the situation would kinda remind you of Ross and Rachel "we were on a brake" . Once Dominic and Sophia are brought together after not seeing one another after ten years of heart break I was a little hesitant to give the hero a chance but he ended up making me swoon along with the heroine . Sophia is awesome I'd listen to her co host radio show daily with her group of friends that are like sisters to one another , her dog is a cutie reminded me of my puppy , and I so want her house the way the author describes it makes it sound dreamy . Now Dominic I really didn't know what to think of I'm so happy Jessica Prince had his point of view added becounse we get some incite on how he feels/thoughts and the little dates he has with Sophia had me jealous again because those are my dream dates lucky girl . They made a really cute couple with their GoT references , banter , sex scenes are super hot , and the love they still had even after all the time had passed . I can't wait to read future books by this author she always knows how to get you in the feels .

When you find someone to be under your skin... *swoon*

Another book by Jessica Prince that I loved!! Her writing again was amazing, as expected, and the characters were solid, showing strong personalities in a way that you could believe they were real!

I felt so connected to them, so involved in their stories, in their lives, almost as if I were one of them.

This is a second chance romance about Sophia and Dominic, after being together for four years and loving each other deeply, they had a huge fight and a following series os mistakes. In a plot like Ross and Rachel from the TV show Friends, it was hard to pick a side, because you could both points of views and understand them. And I loved that! Well, I love the show and I loved that, both in the show and in the book, you could see the mistakes, you could understand their arguments and points, you could totally relate to their fears, and you couldn't blame only one part (although, one of them gets the most blame...).

After 10 years apart, they still had intense feelings for each other, the love was always there, just maybe dormant, but never dead.
Sophia grew to be a succesful woman, with an amazing job, incredible friends, independent (and still stuborn....I can relate with that lol) but still lacking in the love life....after all, she wasn't with her lobster (another Friends reference), the love of her life, her big spoon.

Dominic grew a lot too, being free from his father and the need he had to alway please his impossible expectations, he found his way on his career, his family, his love, the love of his life....his butterfly!

"We do this, there's no going back, baby. I told you I'd make you crave me until you forgot how to live without me, and I meant it. Because in ten years, I've never learned how to live without you."

The book was funny, reaaally sexy, sweet, adorable, with just the right amount of angst for a rom com. It was amazing to read and it made me want more!!
I want to read about them again. I want to know more about Daphne, I want eveything!

Tempting Sophia was my second book of Jessica Prince and I really really really really really loved it!
When I read Seducing Lola I first met Dominic & Sophia and I really wanted to know their story!
So when I got an ARC I was more than happy to read it. I absolutely LOVED their story because it kinda was like a lovers to enemies to lovers again.

Sophia and Dominic were such an intense couple! I could definitely feel the chemistry between them while I read the book.
They've this impulsive relationship and they were like pure fire to me. Their arguments were kinda explosive because Sophia can be so stubborn and Dominic has this hot temper!
But all in all they're just so perfect for each other and I enjoyed every minute!
Oooh and all those romantic and absolutely HOT moments were... WOW! Well let's say I definitely needed cold water! LOL
Tempting Sophia was so full of all the things I personally love in a good romance novel - drama, romance, humour & awesome characters.
And I think you should read it yourself to find out more about it! ;)
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! ♡♡♡

Tempting Sophia is another excellent book from Jessica Prince! I loved all the characters and their amazing personalities and it was great to get to read what was new with some of the gang! I love her writing as I feel totally connected to all of the characters, almost as though they were friends!

Sophia and Dominic have a past. They were together for years until a misunderstanding completely broke their relationship. Ten years later, Dominic has decided that enough is enough and he wants his girl back. Too bad Sophia doesn’t feel the same...or does she?

I loved this book as I felt both sides to the story. I empathized with Dominic and yet felt Sophia’s pain over what had happened. I loved how Dominic was bound and determined to win Sophia back, no matter how long it took.

Tempting Sophia was just the perfect amount of sweet, angst and comedy that I was looking for! I look forward to reading about Daphne next!

Best friend's older brother trope...gotta love it!!!

Sophia has been in love with Dominic since she was a freshman in high school when she started to become interested in boys. She transformed from a tomboy written the help of her best friend, Lola, who happened to be Dominic's sister. They finally ended up together after she graduated high school. But her leaving for college across the country put a strain on their relationship. He ends up messing up and they end up apart for fourteen years. Dominic ends up moving to Seattle to be closer to his sister and Sophia. And that is where this book starts.

I really liked this book, but the issue I had was the cheating. I think that is why I have this four stars instead of five. Added to that, the fact that they never really got around to really discussing why left me feeling a bit dissatisfied.

A great second chance romance with enemies to lovers! Both of my favorite tropes rolled into one story. The characters are well developed and I could definitely see how their animosity turns into love naturally. It progresses at a good rate! Highly recommend this one :)

Tempting Sophia is an awesome second chance romance between Dominic Abbatelli and Sophia Vaughn. Ten years is a long time to hold a grudge but Sophia has done exactly that after a huge fight with Dominic that left her angry and broken-hearted. Dominic has regretted the fight and still loves her and wants her back. Can he break down those walls? Told in dual POV, witty banter, great friends, a little drama but a lot of love make this a great read.

** ARC provided by the author for an honest review **

He said, she said. Jessica Prince’s Tempting Sophia puts things in perspective when it comes to that old saying, there’s two sides to every story.

Sophia had her heartbroken ten years ago. In the aftermath she turned her back on monogamy and became a successful talk radio host who convinces other women that they do not need a man to be complete. Her life is going great and she is practicing what she preaches. Until he shows up.

Dominic has stayed away from Sophia for ten years, but he’s had enough. He’s back in her life and determined to prove to her she is the love of his. He’ll stop at nothing to show her that they belong together. And that night years ago, his version is a bit different than hers. Will he be able to win her back?

I was so excited to read this after meeting Sophia and Dominic in Seducing Lola, and sensing the tension between the two. I love Sophia and how she is hotheaded and stubborn. She is so outspoken, that girl is not afraid to speak her mind! But she is also vulnerable. Especially when it comes to Dominic. She fights their undeniable chemistry with everything she has. It’s a good thing that Dominic does give up too easy.

When you read about the night that has torn them apart for ten long years you kind of want to hate Dominic. But once you get his POV of the events, you start to feel a little sympathetic towards him. I did at least, and I wanted to grab Sophia by the shoulders and give her a little shake. I wanted to say, ‘just the man a chance already’.

This was an angsty yet comedic read. Yep that’s right, angst and comedy together and it makes for one magnificent read. I totally related to both sides of this story and went back and forth over who was right and who was wrong. In the end though it wasn’t about right and wrong, or even he said, she said. It was about them forgiving and moving on, together.

As much as I loved Dominic and Sophia, I equally loved Lola and Daphne. These girls were the best BFFs a girl could ask for. I felt like I was one of their crew while I was reading. Now that both Lola and Sophia have had their stories told it is now Daphne’s turn. I can’t wait to read all about it when she finally gives in to Caleb.

If you are looking for a heartfelt and entertaining read then do not hesitate to pick this one up, you will not be disappointed! FOUR stars!

Final Score - 5 Stars!

This book is part of a series of friends finding love, as only can be done by Jessica Prince - with whit, hilarity and drama ... SO MUCH DRAMA! And I enjoyed EVERY minute of it. She has once again proved her own brand of unique writing. The characters are amazing, solid, and show not only strong personalities but their vulnerability. It's almost as if they are true to life and an old friend.

This story deals with a second chance at romance - about righting a wrong done to another due to miscommunication. Sophia and Dominic are sweethearts from long ago - she's the best friend of his sister who he never noticed until much later. After being together for four years, they had a huge fight and due to miscommunication, they haven't really spoken to each other for 10 years.

It was hard to pick a side in this debate - Dominic was in the wrong, but so was Sophia - however, this wasn't about what side was right/wrong. It was more about "Can you acknowledge your mistakes, learn from them, and attempt to start over again".

You could clearly see the mistakes made on both sides - through flashbacks of their relationship - and you start to see/understand where they both went went wrong. But what never left either one of them was the deep love they shared. But now the question is - "Is love enough to start over again"?

I enjoyed this story more than Seducing Lola - which was hysterical and LOL fun. And while this book was funny, sexy and sweet - the angst of the the past is what solidified in my heart. I wanted more angst.

I can't wait to read the final story in this trilogy of girlfriends (Daphne's story sounds like it will break my sanity!) and can only hope that we get more snipets into Dominic & Sophia's future as we did with Lola and Grayson in this.

Who doesn't love a well written second chance romance, with a group of well developed characters and a storyline that pulls on the heart strings?  I know I do which is exactly why I liked this book so much.  It had all the elements of a fantastic storyline: kick butt female, amazing girl posse, a sexy man who is putting in the effort to right a wrong, immense sexual tension and chemistry.  This book has all the right ingredients needed to make you fall head over heels for these characters and their story.

I'm not going to say too much about this book or these characters, I feel like it is one of those stories you need to immerse yourself in and just enjoy it.  If you've read the first book, Tempting Lola, you'll know what I'm talking about.  Trust this author she has never steered her readers wrong before.  This book will give you all the feels.  Both good and bad.

I loved both of the books in this series so far and can't wait to see how Daphne's book unfolds!

Should be called childish Sophia

Let's just say it took 84% into this book for our h, Sophia to pull her head out of her a$s! Which means that because Sophia couldn't stop being an immature, crazy beeotch she caused this book to be 2.5 stars instead of solid 3/3.5. I get that both Sophia and Dominic were both at fault, but Sophia only remembered her being hurt and him not being faithful...HELLO you broke up with him it isn't cheating if you break up with him. Ugh she made me so angry. poor Dominic did everything he could to win her trust and love back. He should have kicked her to the curb after the first immature reaction to a grown-up relationship.
This is a second chance romance with good secondary characters and a hot Italian male lead, decent subject matter but due to h, Sophia fell super short. Annoying little witch!! Can anyone tell I hated the lead in this book?! Thank gosh it was free with K.U.

Great book from Jessica Prince. This book, has love, angst, laughter and lightheartedness. This is a second chance romance in the best sense of the word. The story was well developed, the dialogue was in turns hysterical, and some of the characters were so funny I was getting the side eye from family as I laughed at the antics.

I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!

Stunning! Absolutely Stunning! I loved this book! I couldn't put it down and it was so hilarious I think I peed a little! Jessica Prince is a Goddess of writing!

Sophia, Lola & Daphne all were apart of the amazing team on the Seattle radio known as "Girl Talk"! Each of them had their fair share of douchbags that displayed poor knowledge of morals and conduct. However, Sophia's demons and the devil homself was too close for comfort. She fell in love with Dominic at the early age of 14. Dominic just so happens to be her BFF's older brother. Growing up with Lola & Dominic was fun and it provided her witg many opportunities to save moments to live throughout her fantasies at night. Just when she finally caught the eye of Mr. Handsome himself, she was 18 and on her way to college. Thesw two manage to have a long distance relationship for almost her entire four years in college. However, time and distance took a toll and situations and mean words burned their past beautiful memories to shreds.

10 years later and Dominic is determined to get his girl back. He actually moves across the country to be closer to Sophia. It was icing on the cake that his sister and now his mother resided there as well. Sophia is also determined. Determined to shut out Dominic and still punish him for a broken heart that was left dormant for 10 years. A crazy determined man, a silly radio contest and a dig with bad flatulence, what could go wrong? Don't forget the little hussy that is trying to gold dig her way into any Abbatelli's bed. These two beautiful written and thought out characters will bring a smile to your face and laughter to your soul. It is a much needed breath of fresh air to read this story and fall in love with all the characters abd their personalities.

Slap on those reading glasses and make sure to pack a bag of tissues. You are in for one HE** of a ride!!!

10 STARS if possible!

Tempting Sophia by Jessica Prince
“Second chance, 5 stars”

Dominic and Sophia are like two forces about to collide. There is no denying it’s going to happen or stopping it, you just have to let it run its course. Dominic and Sophia are destined to happen, whether she likes it or not.
Sophia fell in love with a boy when she was a young teen. It just clicked for her one day that he was her soulmate. She didn’t get him for a couple more years and by the time she did there was already distance between them. Can a long-distance relationship work when the relationships new?
Dominic didn’t have Sophia as long as he wanted. He wanted forever, but distance caused fights which caused the end. But he’s sick of waiting and is going to take what’s his. He will jump any hurdle Sophia puts him through. When he finally starts making ground with getting her back a evil acquaintance makes herself known, putting everything he’s worked for in jeopardy. Then there is a loss of someone close. It will either tear him and Sophia apart completely or bring them together for good. Question is, which will it be?
I loved these two. I wanted them to happen when I was first introduced to them. They love to fight but they love to love each other more. They just clicked when they actually tried. The secondary characters were a riot that just made the story better. Price has a way of giving us book friends that feel real. I cannot wait for Daphne’s story, not only for her side of things but for the little bit we get more of the whole crew.
