Love Pain & Poetry

One can see the story of the authors family, friends, and foes through the poet's eyes. It will make you laugh, and cry. The lyrical undertones are something of note. There are influences from modern music and modern poets, but he challenges interpretation of life with his nuanced and interesting perspective.

I am a poet, photographer and author. I write my emotions in my poetry. I feel they are better on page than on my sleeve. I have a work in progress I began in 2018. It's going to pull on heart strings. The only thing I'm willing to share is "She Was...", stick around for it. I discovered writing in 2017 during a depressive episode. I found peace in creating work that others could consume. I've come a long way and now that I'm free from depression my writing is never good enough. Like most writers I cringe at old work. Today, I'm careful what I put out. I care more about my reputation as a writer where as my motivations were different earlier in my writing journey. I have a lot to share so stick around.

From simplistic to sublime: respect, anguish, devotion, betrayal, pain, parental issues, a mini-ad to learn to write poetry hidden in between two poems, even algebra, and a bad haiku, are in here. Reading Charles M. Stokes' Love Pain & Poetry was like consuming a gilded serving tray's worth of handcrafted deserts: I should have savored each one slowly but I could't resist gobbling them up. Now I'm overwhelmed with multiple emotions. ** I received a signed copy from the author #GoodreadsGiveaway

Epic Poetry

I liked most of the poems in this book. One of my favorites is Fall. I definitely felt the love and pain in this authors poetry. I would recommend this poetry book to anyone who likes poetry. I would like this author to put his poetry in an audio book. I look forward to reading more poetry from this author!

This was a Goodreads.com ARC giveaway. Stokes self published his poetical muses. Most of these relate to tumultuous romantic relationships. The author said he does not consider himself a poet. He encourages readers to write for therapeutic reasons as he has done.
