Scottante verità

Rate this book

This book had the promise to be very dramatic and exciting, but it didn't quite get to that level. It was a bit dry, in fact. I was hoping I wouldn't have to put it aside, and perservered; when finally things did start to pick up. I do have to say that the love scenes were good. I think that I would have liked it more, if we had seen the angst that Luc hid in his heart a little sooner. The focus was on the anmesia angle more than the hidden intensities of Luc's feelings for Belinda. You got the feeling he was a ruthless, possessive, determined man, but you don't quite know why he feels that way about Belinda soon enough. Towards the end, it got pretty good. I could see why Belinda reacted the way she did, and Luc did exactly what I hoped he would do. That part almost made the book four stars. But, since it was so draggy at first (and being bored is the kiss of death to me as a reader), I'd have to give this one 3.5 stars. Ms. Lindsey has some good ideas, and she does a great job with the sexual tension. And, she writes a very good hero. So, I'll definitely read more of her books.

Nothing comes better than a nice romance novel in a Sunday afternoon... I started this book with this same idea, and to be true I was glad that I chose the book. However the ending was not what I expected.

The story was about how Belinda who tried to run away from her husband's life, and then her husband won her back. It was a good read, but in the end it lacked some emotions.

"Claiming His Runaway Bride" by Yvonne Lindsay is a perfect example of why I have been a lifelong lover of category romance. It also was a terrific reminder of why I love my favorite authors. This is a very intense story line with a taut air of mystery mixed with sexual tension, and that electric chemistry between the man and woman is tainted by the thrall of power and possession. Luc Tanner is very much a scarred anti-hero. Love is not a word in his thought processes, even when it comes to his wife, Belinda, the woman he desires above all others. Struggling to regain her memory after a traumatic accident in which her husband was also injured, Belinda both loves and desires her husband. However, she senses that there are elements of their life together which don't fit the image of a happily married couple. Luc sees love as a weakness, one that led to his mother's death at the hands of his own father. The abuse that Luc and his mother suffered from his father forced Luc to armor plate his heart and to focus on becoming an untouchable, unrivaled force in the business world. He thinks that he only desires Belinda, and that she is necessary for his plan for success, but his heart knows better than his mind. It is only by letting go of what he holds most important that Luc will eventually gain more than he ever imagined. Wonderful storytelling!

This started with some promise. Who doesn't love the amnesia trope? However, it went downhill pretty quickly. For something published in 2008, its plot and the characterisation of the MMC was straight out of the 70s/80s.

Lindsay also really annoyed me by completely wasting the New Zealand setting. The main couple lived in an exclusive resort which is accessible by helicopter only, and yet, I never got one descriptive passage of the country.

It was ok, I liked the amnesia theme and that what happened was a bit of a mystery. I didn't like how cold and controlling hero was though that he didn't even want heroine to garden. Also it was such a dick move for him to send his amnesiac wife off with his ex-lover. Relationship did come across as believable. Np

He Didn't Want Her To Remember...The accident that had taken Belinda's memory had provided Luc with the perfect means for revenge. His beautiful bride had no recollection of fleeing her groom on their wedding day...or the real reason behind their union. All she recalled was the unbridled passion they still shared--and the steely-eyed mogul planned to take full advantage of it.

Did not finish. Skimmed to see how it ended, but this is a soap opera. Amnesiac wife? Check. Ruthless man who bought her? Check. Money and revenge and sex scenes? Yes, those too.

This was a nice short read about a woman, Belinda, and a man, Luc Tanner. After waking up from a coma with amnesia because of an accident she's faced with having to over come many fears, including a man who says their married. She remembers nothing of the accident or of what follows, which makes all the less sense when she can't remember her husband. Why can she recall her life before this man but not after. Is her mind protecting her for something so horrible it will break her again?

Luc Tanner holds a terrible secret, one that he'll do anything to keep. It's easy to see what effect he has on her physically but will all that change when her memory begins to return slowly. Will he be forced to acknowledge the truth of why she left again or will he be able to make her stay.
