Cruelly manipulated into a heated election race, Cara’s only hope is to stay one step ahead of her power-hungry running mate. As the truth of the would-be governor's political and personal life comes to light, Cara enlists the help of Lieutenant Harry Oberlin, a state trooper intent on earning her trust and her love. Still holding close the memory of her late husband, can Cara dare surrender her heart … when so much is at stake?

Excellent modern day Esther story. Tracie Peterson tells a wonderful story while weaving faith and Biblical values throughout. Love her books.

This book was o.k., but the plot didn't particularly capture or hold my interest. The characters were not particularly well developed as they seemed to represent fairly generalized stereotypes of the evil and corrupt politician, the knight (policeman) in shining armor, etc. The book reads quickly though and has a happy ending. This one just wasn't for me.

I was looking for an easy read, but this was pretty lame. Blah. It wasn't the worst book I'd ever read, but I do kind of wonder why I took the time to finish it. It didn't hold my interest. It did not add anything to my life. Meh.

It was ok, but I didn't like the decisions the main character made.

Peterson's has created a great faith book but the plot is highly unlikely to ever occur in politics. This was a sweet fast read.
