Delta Force Heroes #7

Rescuing Casey

Rate this book
One minute Casey Shea was minding her own business, doing her job, teaching entomology to college students, and the next she was in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle fighting for her life.

Troy “Beatle” Lennon had watched his friends fall head over heels in love, but never thought it would happen to him. Until he sees a picture of one of his teammates’ sisters. That was it. The absolute joy in her eyes calls to him in a way he can't understand.

But that joy is currently being threatened by an unknown person who’d had Casey kidnapped and hidden deep in the jungle. It’s up to Beatle to find her and keep her safe until the threat against her can be neutralized. Surviving the dangers of the jungle turns out to be the easy part…staying ahead of the killer is much more complicated…and deadly.

**Rescuing Casey is the 7th book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

This is Troy ”Beatle” Lennon’s book. Our heroine is Delta team member Blade’s sister, Casey Shea. She is on a research trip with 3 of her students in Costa Rica when she is kidnapped. She is separated from the other girls and shoved into a pit of water. The girls are rescued, but Casey is left for dead. Beatle and the team are determined to rescue her, especially Beatle. Ever since he’s seen her picture and falls for her. But they don’t find her until 5 days after the others were rescued, and already been missing about a week. Beatle finds her, muddy, dehydrated, unable to talk. But they still have to walk to the exfiltration site.
Casey and Beatle bond, and he protects her once she gets to his base. The threat is still out there and wants her. But when they reduce the threat, will Casey stay?
As usual, Susan Stoker has written a military romance that grabs on from the very first word and does not let go! I could read this, over and over, and probably will!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

The newest Delta Force novel is EVERYTHING you could possibly want and enjoy in a story from Susan Stoker. Its sweet, its exciting as Beatle and his teammates get Casey through the jungle and to safety. It makes your heart pound and make you swoon as we watch Beatle care for Casey. His determination to keep her safe and to take care of her will easily make you swoon and your heart flop in your chest. I kept getting the butterfly feeling with each of his amazing actions. And Casey...she was such an amazing woman. Strong, capable, she kept things together at all the right times and when she had some minor issues arise because of her kidnapping, Beatle was RIGHT there for her. I honestly can't stop loving on these incredible stories of Susan Stoker and think the Delta Force heroes are some of my FAVORITES.

Rescuing Casey has the kind of heat and tenderness I know and love so much from Miss Stoker. The heat is always a pleasant burn. There is a almost, insta-love that can make ANY girl sigh. You can't find heroes that are any hotter or more caring than one written by Miss Stoker and women will fall...HARD for Beatle. I did within the first chapter. And the suspense and action had me hanging on to the edge of my seat. God, I just LOVED this book!

I give Rescuing Casey a MIND BLOWING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! If you are just getting started with Susan Stoker, why not, go ahead and pick up Rescuing Casey...I am positive you will go running for her other books after finishing this one.

Do many surprises

Beatle aka bug man has met his match and she is a teammates sister! They are a good couple that have an interesting connection because he hates bugs and she loves them.

I did not see the villain coming and I definitely did not see the spin of how the teams figured it out. Along with the action and bug lessons we caught up with the other team members and their loved ones. Great news and secrets were shared by many, but especially Hollywood, Coach and Fletch. The ending has a set up for some future books and the writing as always has me ready for the next read!

Let's talk about the rescue. No spoilers because clearly it's going to happen. So this chick has been stuck in the bottom of a hole in the middle of a jungle, pretty sure she's about to die. Finally someone comes along to rescue her and what does he do? Declares his undying love for her. While she's still in the hole. No problem that they've never actually met before!

"As long as you want me by your side, I'm there, Casey. In this hole. Out there in the jungle. Even back home."

"I admire the fuck out of you. Anyone else would have died in this hole. By all rights, you shouldn't be alive.....You're something special. No pressure, but you should know, I want to be in your life."

All this while she's still in the hole. What an ass.
And the villain in this had the most pathetic motive. Just as bad as the author's other bad guys.

It's a shame really. It could have been a much more enjoyable read.

After reading this one Casey has my admiration. She gets kidnapped, keeps a cool head allowing her time to be save. I loved that when things were bad Casey kept thinking about her brother and what he taught her should something like this every happened to her. It's a good thing that Blade is Special Forces and paranoid as hell.

I loved that Blade lead the charge to get his sister back. I thought the talks between Beatle and Blade were interesting. I liked that Beatle told Blade that he was interested in his sister from the picture alone. It allowed Blade to trust Beatle to do what he needed help with during the rescue.

I loved how the moment Beatle saw Casey he was a goner. Even stuck in a pit, looking like hell, he wanted her and let Casey know she could depend on him. Even as they trekked out of the jungle Beatle let Casey know how special she was.

When they all were back in Texas the relationship continued on a good pace. I loved how Casey felt like family when she met everyone, but especially the women and Annie. Annie is always a card and just what everyone needs to help build their spirits.

As the guys looked into who took Casey things took a turn, one that will stun you and have you shaking your head at the why. I was glad that once again Casey was able to keep a level head and give the heads up she needed help. I loved how the guys once again came to her rescue and help in the aftermath.

The last chapter was great! I loved how so many other stories were hinted at, but loved the nugget we learned about Mary and Truck. I can't wait for their book now!

Rescuing Casey harkened back to why I fell in love with Susan Stoker's books. There is danger and mystery along with the deep emotions. Those who aren't fans of insta-love will find this book trying though. Beatle loves Casey after just seeing a picture of her. Personally, I enjoy the insta-love. I like stories where the conflict is external and not between the couple. Many NA books are angsty because the conflict is internal and those stories get emotionally draining. Maybe because I am getting old? Who knows; regardless, I love books like Rescuing Casey where the conflict is external.

Casey is a professor of entomology at The University of Florida. She takes 3 students to Costa Rica for research and they are kidnapped. One of the students is the daughter of an ambassador and when she doesn't call her father, he sounds the alarm. Casey's brother is Blade, one of the men on the Delta Force team. Once he is made aware that his sister is missing, he and his team report to Costa Rica to save her!

The kidnapping and rescue were harrowing enough, but Casey then has to traipse through the jungle, injured, avoid dangerous jungle insects, and escape a second kidnapping attempt. Things don't get easier once they leave Costa Rica either! And throughout the danger and mystery of who kidnapped Casey, you get this building relationship between Beatle and Casey. Plus, you get more of the other Delta Force guys and their wives/girlfriends and more Annie! Rescuing Casey provides a dramatic rescue, a hidden threat, and a love story that is scorching!

POV: 3rd
Tears: no
Trope: military, brother's friend

Series/Standalone: stand alone within an inter connected series

Overwhelming Force by Janie Crouch, Mine to Save by Diana Gardin, Thin Ice by Maryann Jordan...then you will probably like Rescuing Casey!

Rescuing Casey was amazing. Action from beginning to end. Casey is the strongest heroine yet! Plus she isn’t pushy with her strengths, she just shows and demonstrates how completely bad**s she really is.
I love the way these big strong Delta heroes fall. Just another book to feed my SS addiction and now I’m on to Wendy!

Casey Shea is a professor of entomology who is in the jungles of Costa Rica with three other students when things go south, and now and the other students are fighting for their lives.
Troy “Beatle” Lennon has seen all his friends fall in love, but never thought that this would ever happen to him, that is until he sees a picture of one of his teammates, and that was it fir him, the things he saw in her eyes called to him in a way he did not understand.
It’s up to Beatle to find her and keep her safe until the threat against her can be stoped and he can bring her home, but it does not stop there, and now Beatle not only finds that he loves her, but he has to keep her safe and well loved.
Will they neutralize the person or persons that are after Casey, will they find their happily after, trust me its a great, touching and funny at times story, all the characters we have come to love are back and as good as they can be.

I say this every time but I mean it. Susan Stoker never lets me down. Her heroes are all kinds of alpha, but soft when it matters, the heroines are so strong but know when to accept help and the story is always filled with the perfect amount of levity, suspense and romance.

Beatle is in a unique position. His mission is to save his best friend and fellow Delta teammate's sister who was abducted while on a study in Costa Rica investigating the activity of bugs. Oh yeah and he just happens to be head over heals for her. Not that he's ever met her, but one look at her picture and hearing all of the stories about her it was an immediate attraction. Ironic that she has dedicated her life to the study of bugs and he's scared of them.

Casey fought for her life when she was thrown into a hole in the jungle and left for dead. Thank goodness her brother taught her survival techniques or she knows she wouldn't have made it as long as she did. When Beatle was the one that reached down in that hole to pull her out she was instantly attracted but feared that her feelings were more from him being the one that saved her rather than the real kind.

Casey and Beatle were so good together. I know some people hate the insta-love trope but I truly feel like Susan Stoker does it perfectly. It never feels fake or rushed and the relationship doesn't suffer for it. The heat between the characters was sizzling and the poignant parts were sigh worthy.

Beatle and Casey ahhhh talk about sighing in blissful contentment at the end and omg getting little sneaks at 3 future stories was just awesome and slightly tortuous know we now have to wait, wait, wait for the books.

So omh your kidnapped, thrown in a hole and praying for rescue, your also thanking your Delta Force brother for teaching you how to survive and then it happens your rescued, your traipsing through the jungle with a Delta Force team and your falling hard for a Beatle....lol Seriously how does an Entomologist find herself falling for a Delta Force guy named Beatle???? What are the chances???

Rescuing Casey was fast paced, action packed, with some laughs, some tears and some real sweetness, these guys know how to love their women and their women love them back just as fiercely.

Rescuing Casey was another bloody awesome read from Susan Stoker.

Casey & Beatle have a FUN story! I mean, there's a kidnapping, and lots of jungle time & some intense stuff going on! But even when they're escaping the jungle, they make time for banter & deep conversations, which I highly enjoyed. Also, there is a bit of steamy goodness, but it's not overwhelming & it's NOT while they're all dirty & stinky in the jungle. I mean, I'm sure this author could've made that work, as well, but I really liked the way the physical part of their relationship was written. It felt ... real.

Overall, great story & very enjoyable! Also, we get teasers for several upcoming books, and I'm STOKED! : )

I appreciated the longer book, it just felt a bit more substantive. I still finished it in 2 days but I wasn’t left with feeling it was over too quick. Beatle and Casey were a lovely pair and it was a circumstance where I quite enjoyed the instalove aspect. During the read I’m not sure I fully understood Blades very limited involvement but it actually made more sense after the teaser for his book. I appreciated that Casey was able to be seen as a formidable woman whilst at the same time seeing all her struggles after a horrendous experience and Beatles responses were just perfect

Excellent suspenseful romance

So awesome catching up with the Delta Force family of alpha makes and their families. Seeing Beatle find his soulmate-Casey while on a mission to Costa Rica with his team, while looking for her and her students who have been kidnapped. Watching Casey try to be strong in the wake of her horrible experience makes Beetle fall in love with her. Excellent story

The premise of this ebook would make an awesome movie that I’d love to see. Casey Shea is the sister of “Blade” Aspen, on the Delta Force team we’ve been following. When Blade is called in for this assignment, the circumstance is alarming. The team is assigned to rescue 4 women, entomology professor and her 3 students, who’ve gone missing and are presumed kidnapped in Costa Rice. Blade’s sister, Casey, is that professor. Blade’s best friend, Troy “Beatle” Lennon, has seen Casey’s picture before, heard a lot about her, and is intrigued by her before even meeting. The love-before-first-sight aspect of this story is overdone, but I really enjoyed the jungle rescue and escape. I read the ebook. 4/5

The bugs always know.

This is Beetles book. He is one of the Army Delta squad. After seeing a picture of Blades sister he falls for her. And they find out she is missing. Casey is a bug specialist. And is on a trip to watch bugs with students when they are kidnapped. Luckily one of the students is the daughter of a Dutch ambassador and they get called in quickly.

Also a totally unexpected surprise on the Truck and Mary front, that I just got completely crazy about! (*heart eyes*)

A page turner

Action packed from the start and it kept going until the end!
Casey a professor on a resource trip with 3 students are kidnapped in Costa Rica. When the Delta Force goes in after the students where found without Casey who happens to be the sister of Blade but it’s Beatle who is drawn to Casey. They’re journey is difficult and leaves a lot of questions.
This is a page turner until the end and I loved every minute.

It was okay. I'm just SO over jungle romances and jungle rescues and jungle anything. It's hot and sweaty and yucky. I'm irritated the whole time they are there, and it's such a common setting for romantic suspense. I'm just so tired. So, so tired. Unfortunately, not liking this one is a me thing, but even after the setting changed, I still didn't get into it. I wasn't connecting to the characters and wasn't getting into the plot. Nothing was working for me on this one.
