With clear, concise definitions of more than 7,000 terms, this dictionary is an ideal reference for students and non-scientists searching for definitions of widely used scientific terminology. This revised edition has added many new terms, reflecting recent advances in technology and materials, environmental sciences, genetics and genetic engineering, molecular biology and other fields. Key terms in mathematics and computer technology are also defined. Extensive cross-referencing enables the reader to place each entry in a broader scientific context and many entries are supplemented by drawings or tables. This fully up-to-date resource is an invaluable tool in an accessible format.
Really what I was hoping for out of this book were some Latin and Greek roots of scientific words. None. Oh well, that aside, it seems to be a pretty complete little volume. I can never tell with these things until there's something I desperately want to look up, and then I can see how satisfied I am with the answer it gives me.
