Nashville, Tennessee seems like the perfect place for a vocal coach to relocate after a painful divorce, so Audrey Blair finds a home and moves in. A faithful German Shepherd named Duke helps Audrey and her two daughters adjust to their new life, but nothing can heal the hurt Audrey feels. Angry at God and focused on work, Audrey pushes away any attempts for future relationships. But a game of fetch changes everything when her dog runs into Troy Jackson. Troy, the billionaire owner of Arise Music, is too handsome, too busy and too haunted by his past for a relationship. Audrey grabs hold of his heart and impresses him with her musical talent, but why is she willing to work with a Christian label when she’s harboring ill feelings toward God? Within the first week of work, Audrey’s car breaks down and Troy offers her a ride home. They end up chasing fireflies, laughing, and connecting. When Troy asks her out, she decides one date won’t hurt. That one date turns into a private Fourth of July celebration with fireworks in the sky and her heart. Troy finds himself falling in love with Audrey, but when the truth about his past comes to light, will Audrey’s faith be lost forever?

Super duper fun meet-cute! Loved it. I was laughing out loud and instantly felt a connection to the two leading characters. This is part of the Destination Billionaire series as well as the Must Love Dogs series. We get to visit Nashville and the music industry scene and I was pretty excited about seeing that in the synopsis before I picked up the book. One of my friends from college was a singer/songwriter and after she graduated she moved to Nashville. We haven't really stayed in contact over the years but I've seen a few of the things she has been connected with and heard from her a little bit the first couple years after she moved there. So this brought back fun memories of great moments with this friend.
I really connected with several aspects of this book, the characters, little girls, singer, music, dog, yeah that definitely is my life. And we all know how we connect better to something that is similar to our lives and experiences.
Audrey has been picking up the pieces of her life for the last couple years after finding out the devastating news of her husband having multiple affairs while they were married. His lack of desire to be a part of their young daughters' lives after their divorce and all the emotions from her situation have left her in a position she didn't think she would be in.
Audrey is a singer/songwriter but loves being a vocal coach. She takes a chance and moves her small family from Oregon to Tennessee to take a chance on breaking into the music industry as a vocal coach. Her risks pay off and she is hired at a top Christian recording company. Instantly being able to prove her worth as a coach to several up and coming artists and several well loved and established artists. The only catch? She doesn't quite believe in the Christian thing anymore. How could she after all that has happened in her life? She loves the quality of music and respects those who work at the recording company but it's just not for her...is it?
Troy is the billionaire owner of the Christian recording company Arise. His life has been anything but perfect and yet he has worked hard to improve himself and fix his mistakes. He loves his job and being able to bring Christian music and words of inspiration to everyone.
There were definitely several moments of thought and reflection for these two characters' lives, past, present and future. I loved how Rachelle Christensen wrote these characters. The honesty behind their emotions and feelings really allowed me as a reader to connect with them. Not that I have experienced what they have but it showed how in any situation in life, the myriad amounts of them, we can have hope. We can have healing, a second chance and most definitely peace. Whether you believe in redemption from God or not, whether you believe in second chances and peace or something else. Everyone has the chance for hope of a better future, hope of improving themselves and fixing mistakes.
The cover may make it look like a book about a guy, a dog and probably a romance, this book is definitely about life. Making the most out of our choices, even if our circumstances aren't always brought upon us by ourselves but by others, we still have choices in how we react and how we move forward.
A little lighter side of my review now, I loved Duke. Who is Duke? Duke is the dog. I'm a dog lover! I have two dogs, a big one and a little one (a new addition to our family after a friend passed away) and I love how they offer such great therapy. They don't judge, they love you always, they're funny, they're loyal, kind, (sometimes grumpy), mischievous, happy to see you always (okay maybe not always, especially when they get into the garbage and are hiding thinking you won't know it was them), dogs are just great. Mine are my shadows and best friends (pet friends of course). I loved how well Duke was written into the storyline. He didn't run the story but was a sweet added character.
Audrey was definitely a fun and spunky character. I loved the journey that we were able to take with her as a reader. I loved seeing her take time for her healing and watching her as a mother, I loved her friendships with those around her. Her love and acceptance of others. I even liked her caution when it came to Troy and opening up to another relationship. Yet the sweet romance and beginning friendship/falling in love was so fun to watch. The sparks were sizzling and flying.
Troy, yeah, Troy. He was perfect for Audrey. But he procrastinated and that caused some major problems to occur. Yet if he hadn't procrastinated then would the relationship have gone anywhere? Would Audrey have accepted him with his past and flaws even though in the present he wasn't the same man. I know that might be confusing because I didn't really explain anything about why he was procrastinating but all I will say is his past was not squeaky clean. Not something he felt Audrey would be happy about after her experiences and failed marriage.
I really enjoyed this one. It has a lighthearted feel even with all the healing, pasts and everything I've mentioned above. I felt like there was a good mix and balance. I was definitely turning the pages and reading when I could because I wanted to see if these two could work out their pasts and differences and be willing to trust each other.
Cute, fun, lighthearted, emotional, and definitely some fireworks. Rachelle Christensen is definitely one of my favorite authors to read and enjoy. Her romances, her mysteries, her historical novels, if you haven't read any I highly suggest you pick one up and read it or all of them.
Content: Clean. Audrey's ex husband had affairs but it's not discussed, the reader just knows it happened in the past. Some talk about drugs and alcohol. Again not discussed in detail, reader just knows it was part of a person's past. A couple sweet kisses. As you've probably figured out from earlier in my review, some Christian elements. Not preachy in my opinion but fit well with the story.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
This book had more references to religion and God then other books in this series. The book is set in Tennessee which is part of the Bible Belt so it fits in with the story. I was a bit frustrated with Audrey and her stubbornness to forgive. It made sense because she had been so hurt by her cheating ex husband but it was still very frustrating to read. Duke, Audrey's German Shepard, was a fun added touch.
This was a cute, sweet romance on the shorter side. It had more Christian fiction elements than I'm used to in this series but worked well with the characters. Loved the dog!
How to Fetch a Fiancé: A Must Love Dogs Romance is the seventh book from the Destination Billionaire Romance series. I enjoyed this quick read. Such a wonderful, sweet, and clean romance, full of faith and inspiration. 5 stars. I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
This was a fun, short, clean romance. The way Audrey and Troy met was cute and set the stage for Duke's involvement in the story. I appreciated that though Duke had a role in the book and was mentioned numerous times, his part was not forced, nor was it over the top.
The relationship between Audrey and Troy was natural and believable. I always appreciate when the emphasis is not on the physical, and did appreciate the way that Troy was such a gentleman he wouldn't consider doing more than just kissing Audrey outside of marriage.
While Troy was a billionaire and Audrey was not, even the money was not emphasized as a big deal, other than Troy's friend, Mike, being concerned that she might be a gold-digger. Even Troy wasn't really concerned with his money other than being glad he could use it to help others.
While there was a Christian element to the book, it was not strong nor was it forced on the reader. The story dealt with trust and forgiving others but was not preachy in any way. I don't believe a non-Christian would be offended by the story and the elements of Christianity that were there.
I loved how this story was different, even though it had familiar elements! She may be divorced with kids, but she's rocking it with the help of good friends! I loved the forgiveness part of the story, always a great reminder!
This story ties the Must Love Dogs and Billionaire Romance series together. Audrey, a vocal coach, and her 2 young daughters are making a new home in Nashville, TN. While at the park playing Frisbee with her 2 yr old German Shepherd, Duke, she's meets Troy when the Frisbee hits him in the head and her dog knocks him down. If she's embarrassed then it only gets worse when she goes to Arise Music for an interview to be a vocal coach for an up and coming Christian singer, and finds out that the man she knocked in the head and her dog pounced on is none other than the owner of Arise Music. They have a connection pretty quickly even though he hasn't dated anyone in several years and she's still getting over a cheating husband. It's a cute story and I enjoyed the sweet things Troy and Audrey did together. Dinner at his huge mansion followed by chasing fireflies, inviting her and her daughters over for dinner, then fishing in his pond, their own private July 4th fireworks show. He included her daughters whenever he could. I didn't like how Audrey shut Troy out so quickly when she found out about his past. The past he left behind 5 yrs earlier when he found God and turned his life around. I understood why she did it but she didn't listen to him when he tried to explain. I was glad her best friend brings it to her attention that Troy has turned his life around and he treated her with respect unlike her ex-husband. Not all men were like her ex. I can understand why Troy was so hesitant to tell her about his past and he plan to that one night until one of her girls disrupted their conversation and ruined the moment. I thought it was cute that Duke ate the letter Troy slipped under her door and she had to put it back together to read it. This is a clean romance with kissing. It does have some religious elements in it but it does take place at a Christian record company, and I didn't feel it was "in your face" or over the top.
I had so much fun writing this book! I was able to travel to Nashville to do some research and I included snippets of that in this story. The characters in this story have big hearts and I enjoyed writing the emotion in some key scenes in this book. I love Duke, the German Shepherd. You'll have to read the dedication to learn more about him. I hope you enjoy this novel!
I really liked this book. It was fun and written well. I was a little disappointed with the last few pages. I thought the author tried to wrap the story up way too fast. But I love this author and I will read many more of her books.
A dog, a frisbee, and a hit to the head, start this story off with a bang and are the intro to Audrey and Troy’s rocky road to romance.
Audrey’s ex-husband makes her wary of men and Troy’s history not to mention billions of dollars make it difficult to find a woman who’ll love him for all the right reasons. There’s also the difficulty to overcome of Audrey’s loss of faith in God and Troy’s total reliance in HIM.
The pacing is perfect. The characters well developed and relatable. And it’s clean, while still giving that thrill that comes with a kiss.
Ms. Christensen knows her craft well and it shows on every page. Take your dog for a walk before you sit down to read this one, because you won’t want to get up again until The End.
This was a good story with lots of strong Christian elements written in. It is a clean, stand-alone romance with engaging characters and it moves at a fast pace. I recommend this book. Well done!
Audrey Blair is divorced with 2 young daughters. In an attempt at a fresh start, she moves across the country to Nashville with hopes to renew her work as a vocal coach. After the betrayal she's endured, she is absolutely not looking to date anyone. However, when her dog's Frisbee goes off course and whacks a man in the head, she can't ignore the attraction. And, when that man turns out to be her new boss, she quickly realizes that her heart is in trouble.
Billionaire Troy Jackson doesn't know what hit him as he's walking alongside a park. But, when he sees the beautiful red head checking on him, he's glad for the hit. Troy struggles to find women who are interested in him and not only his money. So, when Audrey seems to fill that need, he realizes that his heart is in trouble.
What follows is a sweet romance that focuses on 2 damaged souls. Audrey has fears of betrayal from her ex husband and Troy has a dark past that he's desperately trying to move beyond and change. But, as their relationship develops and feelings grow, he struggles with the right timing to reveal his past. What will happen when it's exposed?
I was enjoying the story immensely and it was developing nicely until the big reveal of Troy's past. Then, my reaction was that Audrey simply went nuts. It was too over the top and heartless. I found her way too self-righteous. With all the Christian elements filtered through the story, I expected a different reaction. Of course, there's the HEA, thanks to her best friend and the dog.
Romance - PG - lots of kisses Language - Nothing offensive Recommended - Yes My rating - 3 stars
Audrey has been burned by love; her ex cheated on her multiple times and doesn't even want to have a relationship with their two daughters. She's angry with God about what happened, but when she gets offered a job as a vocal coach with a Christian recording company, she is thrilled. She loves music and teaching, and she quickly co as to care for her boss, Troy as well. Troy is just as interested in her and he's even good with her kids. Things seem to be really looking up for Audrey, but then things fall apart.
This is a satisfying and well written story. I felt both characters were well developed, especially Audrey. Her reactions and hopes and fears were all realistic and I enjoyed watching her journey and seeing how she handled things. This is a quick read, easily read in two hours or less. I received a free copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
The heroine inspired no sympathy. Sure, she had been married to a jerk of a husband who cheated on her--many women go through that hellfire. However, Audrey's ex didn't physically abuse her or her daughters, leave her destitute, refuse to pay child support or alimony, or attempt to manipulate her by threatening to take away her daughters. She was able to move across the country, live in a beautiful home in a good neighborhood, find a good job requiring only part-time hours, and live near a neighbor willing to help with childcare. As far as divorced women go, Audrey was in the elite 1%. For her to throw a spiritual tantrum and blame God for a life less than perfect came across as immature and selfish. What in the world did Troy see in her? I'm at a loss to explain it.
****How to Fetch a Fiancé Aug 5, 2017 by Rachelle J. Christensen , Lucy McConnell 5 stars I purchased a copy of How to Fetch a Fiancé: A Must Love Dogs Romance (Destination Billionaire Romance) by Rachelle J. Christensen and Lucy McConnell and this review was given freely. Family drama, realistic characters, some humor and a clean romance. Divorced single mom and voice coach Audrey has an accidental meeting with the Billionaire owner of the Christian company Arise Music Troy when she injures him while throwing a frisbee to her dog Duke. Fate brings them back together providing Audrey not only with work but a renewal in her faith in God. Unfortunately their love is tested when Audrey learns of Troy's broken past.
Still hurting from her cheating husband, divorce and him wanting nothing to do with their daughters, Audrey packs up and leaves Oregon to travel across the country to Nashville to build her career as a singing coach. But when her life fell apart she decided God had let her down so she walkedvawsy from God and her faith. But a job with a Christian Recording company, a Christian best friend and the most adorable rescued German Shepherd she gets a new chance for happiness.
This wasn't a bad book but it wasn't my favorite. I much prefer her other Billionaire Romance "Hawaiian Masquerade". I've also noticed a bit of a trend in her male characters. They all seem hyper-sensitive to women's emotions and very communicative about their own which is very unlike most real men. I'd like to see her write in a grouchy hero who grunts as a verbal response. Like Sarah Eden's Duke of Kielder. Love him.
How to Fetch a Fiancé is book seven in the Destination Billionaire Romance series. It can be read as a standalone but as always it would be enhanced if read with the series.
Burned by love and a cheating ex, Audrey jumps at the chance for a new life with her dog and two girls. So moving to Nashville to be a vocal coach is just what she needs, not love. So when feelings for her boss start to form, what path will she choose? A very enjoyable book to read!
This book just fell flat for me. It was ok, but definitely not something I am going to read again—or recommend to friends. It is a story about forgiving, but it took forever to get there. I think it would have been better if it was shorter. I hate dogs, but figured it wouldn’t matter much—wrong. The characters talk to the dog as much as each other. I think that is part of what made this book just an ok read.
Can doing wrong things ever be forgiven? This is a great story about Audrey Blair who suffers from a recent divorce and moves to Nashville, Tennessee to have a new life. Along with her are two daughters and her faithful German Shepherd, Duke. She takes a new job as a vocal coach when Duke runs into Troy Jackson. Well, you know love will bloom, sooner than expected. But can it last? Great, heartwarming story. Highly recommend.
Fun (and clean) romance with lovable characters! It, especially, appealed to me, being a life-long musician with Nashville ties. I have enjoyed everything that Rachelle Christensen has written, so I wasn't surprised at how much I liked this. Also, it was so easy to read after some fairly heavy stuff I've been reading.
This was such a cute story. It was one I needed to hear I don't do very well with forgiveness it is a lessen I am still trying to work on. I loved Audrey and Troy's story. It is important for us all to realize people can change and we should always give someone a chance. I'm not much of a dog lover but I really enjoy this series of books anyway!
Rachelle had a great way with "Duke" the German Shepard. How in tune he was with the main character, Audrey. I like how the billionaire, Troy, was so normal. The emotions rang true. They were there and not just typed. Another good Billionaire romance.
A redeemed bad boy and a divorced woman with two children don't seem to be a likely match but the attraction is more than either expected. Delightful book that will have you singing country songs.
She's a single mother with two little daughters. She starts over in Nashville as a singing coach. The owner of the Christian music company interests her and she has caught his eye too.
How to Fetch a Fiance is a wonderful story about forgiveness and second chances. The characters are very likable, but with flaws that make them human. Everyone can relate to their struggles to overcome their past.
Short and sweet novella. Dogs are man/women's best friend, and it shows in this story. You can also catch a Fiance with them too! I love a lot of Rachelle's books, whether they are romance or suspense. Check them out!
Audrey and Troy had both been hurt in the past. But dealing with it in different ways. Can they both overcome and move forward together. Great cast of characters. Moving story.
This was a good story centering around a music company and Christianity. The religion was light, the romance was sweet and clean and I loved Duke the dog.
