Do you ever feel like you have to do something just because someone tells you too? Like a group of friends for instance. Or maybe that someone happens to be your older brother? Adam feels like he has to prove himself to his older brother Duke and his friends to be accepted into their group. Duke and his friends convince Adam to go into a haunted house alone. Little does Duke know, that the mean tricks he plays on his brother could come back to haunt him. This is a story about the discovery of true friendship. And how with the help of a skeleton and his group of friends, one older brother can learn to appreciate his brother and that being a bully is never a good idea.
Me and my son loved reading this book. Here we go... The Reluctant Skeleton. A fine book! And I've never seen such a creative story! But... the title, I'm sorry, makes no sense whatsoever. The story doesn't revolve on a scared skeleton, or a nervous, homesick skeleton, no, it's about a boy and his mean brother. But, looks can be deceiving, and you can't judge a cover by it's book! Wait... Hold up... Anyways, I loved the story, and while the premise appears to be revenge, it's not, it’s forgiveness. I just wish a bit more editing would be done, as there are numerous grammatical errors, such as a few missing punctuation points. That insures that a book as good as such won't ever be another Alexander and the No-good...? Ah, forget it, you know what I mean! On a non-cherrypicking note, I love the illustrations so much! It reminds me of Quentin Blake's illustrations in Roald Dahl's books! I am definitely not reluctant to give this a five star review! Alright, I'll never make that joke again. Great read!
This is a story of ghosts and witches and skeletons ghosts ghouls that haunt this house for Halloween. They enjoy being scary. This chapter book reads fast because the storyline is very interesting. It also teaches a very good lesson in a fun way. Sam the skeleton loved cool breezes whistling through his bones. He also loves visitors. They spooked group after group, trembling teens, frightened couples, and unsuspecting travelers. Then Sam heard a group of boys, "We've all done If you want to be in our club you must do it alone". Sam went and told the others about the boy. He didn't feel right spooking the boy. The boy ran out of the house and right into Sam. What did Sam do? What did the boy do? I borrowed this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
This story is very clever. A bullying older brother gets a taste of his own medicine and ultimately changes his ways. The big brother's newfound respect toward his younger brother is made possible due to some friendly Halloween. monsters.
This is a cool book to read for hallows eve. I enjoyed the lesson; the guy who acts the toughest may not be so tough when faced by a “scary” encounter. The overall idea for this book was unique. Enjoy!
