This was first time reading something from this author. I really enjoyed this book. I loved Brick he was the man in this story I see when he falls in love he falls hard and he really loved Nabila. Brick was one man that knew what he wanted and Nabila couldn't hide the fact that deep down inside she was feeling him. It's was cool how he went from his planet to ours to find his wife. You got all your questions answered in this book no waiting to know what happened it just played out the way it was supposed to. Please read this book I know for me I must read something else from this author. Great job Natavia great job.

Amazing! There’s not enough words to describe the beauty of this story. It’s so good and fascinating; I felt like I was watching a movie play out. Brick & Nabila were soulmates in every sense of the word. I enjoyed getting to witness their love.

Brick is a romance between a young woman, Nabila and Brick, a gorgoyle ( a big beautiful alien with swag).

Sadly, it was not the romance for me: Nabila was ok, and she was funny, sometimes; but Brick was thick, in every way, and the sci-fi part couldn't, in my opinion, make up for all this.

Love love love!

I really didn't expect to like this book as much as I did because it's a paranormal (not a genre I'm into) book. However, I must say that I enjoyed reading this book, especially with Brick's fine ass!

This was a re read for me so that I could be caught up for book 2. The fact that I already read and still couldn’t put it down tells just how good Natavia is. I’ve read all her books...many times (especially Don’t Come Looking for Love series) and they are all GREAT!!!! Not one complaint from me, not even how long it took for Brick 2 because I knew it was going to be worth it. Great read!!!😄😄😄

I love this book‼️‼️‼️Everyone should have a Brick in their life. Risha is THE funniest character in this book. If you like urban fiction and paranormal — this is a GREAT combination of both.

Natavia is hands down the funniest author I have ever read from. In every single book there’s a character who has you crying laughing. I will admit that when I’m in a funk, I will read a couple of her series because they are guaranteed great stories and good laughs.

My favorite passage in this book:

A feeling of emptiness hit me like a ton of bricks when I walked into my apartment. I grabbed a few items out of the medicine cabinet for a bath. I turned on the water in the tub, and added bath beads and oil. My gown fell to the floor as I stepped into the tub. I rested my head against the wall and closed my eyes. Something inside of me began to crave Brick, and not just sexually. I wanted to hear his voice, see him smile, and get lost in his eyes. “I’m not chasing him!” I said out loud, but nobody was there. I began humming the song in my dreams, and peace came over me. The water in my tub turned crystal blue, and pretty pink flowers filled it. White birds flew around my bathroom, and one landed on my shoulder. This can’t be happening. I closed my eyes again, but they were still there when I opened them. My stomach glowed like a nightlight. I closed my ears when the birds made noises that sounded like sirens. Pain ripped through my back, and almost snapped my neck. I climbed out of the tub to call an ambulance but I fell on the floor. “STOP!” I yelled as the birds flew around me in a circle. There was some kind of ritual going on and I was the sacrifice. A bone in my back snapped, and I screamed when I felt it break through my skin. Blood poured from my mouth while I fought to breathe. I laid still and closed my eyes as I welcomed death. Two black, bloody wings burst out of my back. I laid on the floor shivering and in pain. My bathroom looked like a bloody, pig slaughter house. My heart stopped beating and I closed my eyes. My eyes popped open and I sat up. I looked around and the blood was gone. I felt my body to make sure it was real. I thought I died but I was still on the floor inside my bathroom. There were no signs of any birds. I stood up to look in the mirror. I covered my mouth to keep from screaming. My body belonged in an art museum. I turned around to catch a glimpse of my back. I had the same wing tattoo as Brick, but my wings were different. My wings came together like one wing. “OH HELL NO! That son-of-a-bitch turned me into a pigeon!” I yelled out. I snatched my robe from behind the bathroom door and stormed into the kitchen. I grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniels off the counter and popped the top off. I guzzled the whiskey halfway down. “I need something stronger than this!” I said. I searched the cabinets and came up empty. I sat on the kitchen floor to finish my bottle. I didn’t have a job, I was no longer a human, and my soul mate already had a mate. “Why did you have to land on my car? Couldn't you land in the zoo? Just take me, God!” I slurred. Maybe I can fly to heaven. My phone rang on the kitchen table. I crawled to the table to answer my phone. “Sally’s pet shop. Parrots for sale. How may I direct your call?” I answered. “Is everything okay with you?” Risha asked. “I was gang initiated by a damn group of swans. Am I an ugly duckling to you because I think I turned into a big beautiful bird. Help me,” I cried. “Are you and Brick smoking crack? I knew something was off about his weird eyes,” Risha said. “Shut the hell up, Risha, and listen to me. Go get me a bird cage. The biggest one you can find. My life is not the same anymore. Please, just save me,” I slurred. “I’m ready to come over there to smoke whatever you are smoking. I’m sliding my slippers on now. Save me some of that weed, and you better not smoke it all. I’m on my way,” she said before she hung up. I paced back and forth on the floor thinking about a solution to my problem. I opened the window to see if I saw any flying stars. “FALL AGAIN SO I CAN WISH FOR MY LIFE BACK!” I screamed. “Get out of the window, crazy bitch!” someone yelled at me.

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣OMG

ON TO BRICK 2!!!

Ok...I live Natavia books. I really do.

But, maybe just maybe she should really read over what she's writing for Paranormal. Her first paranormal book was...good. The second...ok. But this one.. I don't know. It lost me.

Paranormal like any other book is fiction, as in, anythingg can happen, but I need to "believe" in the book and to "feel" the words behind it. I love paranormal and maybe that's why I'm so hard on this one, but when you read Ilona Andrews then read this, you miss everything.

Urban doesn't have to be so different from reg paranormal romances, it's all about the writing, and this was far to fake for me. I couldn't picture myself in any situation after the first half of the book.

Lovedddddd it ❤❤❤

Natavia never disappoints this book was so amazing it went beyond my expectations. I love me some Brick he was funny, crazy, and so manly at the same time. I'm glad Nabila got what she wanted because I felt like she deserved it. One thing I can say is that Natavia scared me for a second having me think Brick was a goner. Overall phenomenal read.

Not going to lie, I didn't know how I felt about this book initially. I've never read a book based on Gargoyles before, that was definitely a first. I thought Brick was a complete jerk to Nabila. I don't have a lot of experience with Urban Fiction...this is honestly my first read, but a lot of it felt very stereotypical in the beginning. Ghetto friend, living in the hood, calling people thugs, I kinda felt put off. But as the book progressed, there was an actual deep storyline that I absolutely loved. For the last 25% of the book, I couldn't put it down. I had to know how it was going to end. I will say, grammatically speaking, it was not the best written story, but the plot was great. I am actually glad that I picked up this story and I am ready for book 2. My actual rating would be 3.5 stars, but I'll give it 4 stars on here...mainly due to the last half of the book.

Brick; An Urban Paranormal

All's well that ends well. Now the twelve planets have aligned and planet earth is safe according to Brick aka Midas (the gargoyle) and his human soul mate Nabila. The birth of baby Sumi who posesses immortal traits caused the universe to be at✌. This novel was a different look at the supernatural.

LOVED IT

This African American paranormal was excellent. Natavia did a great job putting this book together. I am gradually liking the paranormal genre. Definitely something different. My second gargoyle book and I think I'm starting to like them better than wolves. Can't wait to read your other paranormal books. Highly recommend this book.

So bad! I can’t believe the good reviews are real

How are there so many authors who literally can’t go three paragraphs without a misused word, grammatical error or other mistake. This book is sloppy with horrible story line and characters. “Brick walked down his brick hallway into the throne room.” Just silly and frustrating to read.

This book had me dying of laughter. The banter throughout the book was hilarious! Again I love how Natavia writes! There wasn’t a lot of spice in this one but I enjoyed the book. I love how the story was put together and flowed perfectly to the next plot. Each event that happened was a link to a chain of events, so you definitely have to pay attention, which I loved! It wasn’t rushed and it was a good read.

RN: When the story opened up, I was like I know you lying lol! But let’s continue!

Nabila was hilarious the entire time. The name calling of birds.. I literally could not lol but I would’ve left that job a long time ago! You were literally treated like trash, you weren’t able to live like you wanted.. yeah I would’ve said “see ya wouldn’t want to be ya” lol. The fact she thought she wished on a shooting star but it was really Brick.. is so crazy and the bird she saved when she was in foster care was Brick’s mom?! Everything was just wild. When she got pregnant I was like I knew you were thinking about the D because how you forgot to wrap it up.. although the way Natavia describes it.. might not have fit haha! To get a husband, become immortal, and have a baby.. I would’ve lost it too if I thought my man died

Brick aka Midas.. baby he definitely had the “Midas” touch because Nabila fell hard! He had his business on earth and was a God in the universe.. baby sign me uppp.. One tall glass of gargoyle and dragon for me please lmaooo! But his vengeance almost made him lose everything he loved!

His brother yeah hater and coward. Can’t even think of his name Lol! He would’ve had to see me because half of this is your vault. Him and Jonelius knew who Brick was. His jealousness and pride got in the way

Casha trash! You went and married someone else with status because you were too ashamed to be with Brick. Turns out you were poisoning him the whole time. And had the nerve to get jealous.. ha next.

Cute read. I’ll read the next book in the series to see how it ends..

At 1% I was already intrigued. The description of Brick and how his body turns to stone captivated me. I'm a lover of all things paranormal, but I've never read a Gargoyle story. Author Natavia's depiction of this world and all of the interconnected planets, gave new meaning and imagination to the Solar System. Our heroine Nabila, fiesty, strong, beautiful, was easy to love off top. In reading this story I could vividly see the Gargoyle tribal markings, and the varying elements of each planet., even down to the special water that they needed for survival. Natavia will absolutely have you feeling like you are on one of the Lacas planets...Planet Star, Planet Vada.

The side characters added even more depth to the story. Risha, Nabila's bestie, was hilarious, and had Nabila's back every step of the way. Odega and Eagle, are truly Brick's brothers and I enjoyed their contribution to the story. There are some delicious messy elements lol. Each page was addicting. Brick's inner thoughts allowed us to really dive into our Hero. He's bold, undoubtedly an Alpha, and very much a protector. Brick and his locs for days truly gave the #MidasTouch.

Nabila and Brick had an undeniable chemistry, what may have started off as an agreement of sorts, quickly turned into so much more. They couldn't deny their connection. Brick will forever be the #ProfessionalBrickLayer lol. These two together burn up the pages. Natavia's pen game is unmatched! I'm on to Part 2!!!

Confession time: my first animated crush was Goliath from Gargoyles. Yup, I should’ve known way back then that paranormal book boyfriends were going to be my kryptonite. Fast-forward to now and Natavia has me out here swooning over stone men like it’s completely normal. And honestly? I’m not mad about it.

This story snatched me up from page one- gargoyles, betrayal, messy drama, and a romance that simmers into a full flame. The worldbuilding is unique, the pacing stays tight, and the cast? Unforgettable. Brick had me cracking up one minute and melting the next, walking chaos wrapped in stone, but somehow still irresistible. Odega and Eagle? Ride or die brothers all the way. Nabila’s storyline punched me in the chest; watching her navigate heartbreak, disrespect at work, and her own insecurities was painfully real. Her glow up alongside Brick felt earned...a match built on scars and sparks.

Let’s talk villains for a sec: Casha. Whew. Fake, petty, and the kind of instigator you love to hate. Every time she slithered on the page, I was ready to throw hands. Balance that with Risha, Nabila’s bestie, who had me literally laughing out loud with her unfiltered commentary! Yeah, she’s the type of friend we all need in our corner.

Is it perfect? Nah. Some parts had me side eyeing like “girl, what?” but that’s the beauty of Natavia’s style...she’s unpredictable, pushing paranormal romance into wild, addictive territory. She writes like her imagination is on fire and we’re all just lucky enough to catch the sparks.

Bottom line: If you’re craving a paranormal ride that’s equal parts heat, humor, and heartbreak & gargoyles stealing the spotlight—this book is it. Natavia stays delivering the kind of stories that make you forget real life for a while… and honestly, I’ll happily keep coming back for more. Off to book two.

Awesome Book.....Must Read

Natavia did an awesome job with this book! The storyline was very interesting and kept me wanting to read more. The characters were well developed. That Brick was something else. He had his moments when he could be serious , but when he wasn't being serious you couldn't help but to laugh at him. He found the love he was supposed to find and soon realized other people weren't who they seemed to be. I couldn't stand that Casha. There was always something about her that I always felt was fake when she was introduced. She was more like a human than what she thought. That chick loved to start drama. Lol. Odega and Eagle were true brothers to Brick! Nabila went through some things. The way people treated her was ridiculous. She dealt with a break up that caused her depression. She dealt with someone using her at work. The way her boss treated her was crazy. When she and Brick started getting closer there was no denying things between them. Those two were good together. I loved her best friend Risha. That girl was a trip! She kept me laughing with the things that came out of her mouth. This was most definitely another great paranormal and I'm looking forward to more from Natavia!!!

I have been looking to get into more black paranormal books, and came across this one by Natavia.

Now this wasn’t a bad book, it just wasn’t really up my alley really.

This book was definitely one of the more unique paranormal books I’ve ever read before. It’s about Gargoyles and I forgot those were even a thing until reading this lol.

There were times when I really loved Brick and there were other times I couldn’t stand his hard headed ass 🤦🏾‍♀️. Same with Nabila, there were times I really liked her, and then others where I couldn't stand her. Really, that was a pattern for me period with this story. A lot of the characters annoyed the hell out of me and I don't like that. Especially if they don't do anything to redeem themselves/become less annoying later.

I will say though, that I was very invested in this story, so that's why I kept going with this one. Good plot and ideas. The characters just took away from the story for me with this one.

I'll definitely be giving this author another try, I just hope the characters are a bit more likeable in the next series that I read.

I don't read much paranormal literature. Scratch that...I don't read it at all. I've only read 2 other books Khan's Choice by Tacarra and Fated Breed by Charity Shane'. Both of these are novellas and they're about vampires, so my understanding of the urban paranormal genre is limited.

With Natavia's Brick, I read my first full length novel, read about gargoyles, and read my first book with different worlds. Now I see why so many people love these fantasy novels.

I thoroughly enjoyed Brick. This fast-paced novel was engaging and funny. Though the book was a little fast paced for me (I'm a newbie to the genre remember?), I grasped the essence of the story and the characters fairly easily. Natavia did a good job at immersing readers into the worlds in Brick.

I recommend Brick to anyone who enjoys urban paranormal or is looking for something different.
