Takeda catches Hotaru and Yuma together in a compromising situation, but he's not exactly sure what it is he saw them doing. He's not the only one who is confused. Yuma feels like Hotaru is just leading her on and yet she still can't stop thinking about her friend. Will an overnight trip to the beach clear the air or make things even messier?
I think my main problem with the “relationship” we’re supposed to root for is that one end of it is so enmeshed in manipulation and mind games. It’s not a healthy dynamic at all. Why then should we champion it as an endgame scenario?
Despite the promises of the author to make the work more and more "extra soppy," this volume seems to have added some emotional depth to the usual cavorting. There's the obligatory "beach episode" and still plenty of nearly-public snogging, but the emotional toll this is taking on the main character is starting to become clear, and her weariness and confusion and the effects this is having on her life and other relationships gives the story more gravitas than it has before. Her childhood friend who is causing all this becomes even more of a mysterious presence, as we rarely see her omnisciently, and when we do it adds little insight except to reinforce that she's either broken, empty, or both. As a result the story has become more compelling and more unsettling and gives it more of an urgency that moves it forward in an exciting way.

Today I bring you the review of the fourth volume of the manga Netsuzou Trap by Naoko Kodama. That said, let's begin:
💓This volume opens with Yuma and Hotaru in the infirmary, surprised by almost being discovered by Takeda, whose relationship with the former is on the verge of breaking up.
We then move on to the tension between Yuma and Fujiwara, who uses women to satisfy his sexual desires. Both have an agreement to preserve Hotaru's infidelity. At that moment we discover that both parties share the secret of never having fallen in love.
💓The next of the scenarios that the plot moves to corresponds to the summer holidays and the beach. The action puts on the table the wishes about the future, where Hotaru highlights that she would like to see the marriage between Yuma and Takeda. This commentary delves into Yuma's discomfort stemming from her affair with her friend and develops into an embarrassing incident in which she loses her bikini top, which leads to a near-discovery situation.
💓In the last third of the work, this sexual and emotional tension between the two escalates again in a visit to the aquarium. Yuma is unable to get away from Hotaru, even to reveal her feelings to her after having exchanged impressions with Takeda.
In this context, the lover decides to take physical distance from her sexual practice partner. However, chance brings them together again, bringing us closer to the climax of the story. Fujiwara, for his part, seems annoyed by the bond that still exists between them and seems willing to make a final move.
🌸Conclusion: This fourth volume delves deeply into the possibilities of a hypothetical romantic relationship between the friends while we witness the assisted destruction of Takeda as a leading man, in which Fujiwara increases his shadow.
In volume four, the daytime soap opera elements have faded somewhat, while the yuri aspects have become much more prominent. Rather than heading toward a drastic or shocking conclusion, the story now feels as if it may be moving toward a happy ending for the two protagonists. That said, it’s still unclear what Hotaru is really thinking or what drives her actions. I’m hoping the story will eventually bring those motivations into focus and tie everything together in a way that feels convincing.
2 1/2 as this one is slightly less fan service oriented and more toward showing the emotions of Yuma at least, and fleshing out her friendship with Takada. I hate Fujiwara to no end. He's a despicable person. Hotaru is not much better, and I feel like both may be projecting onto the others. The art remains pretty cute, if fan service-y. Honestly, a trashy sort of manga, but decent despite that.
This is my very first time reading this type of story. I first started to read it with a open mind about it and before I knew I am hooked on it. I never thought about reading this type before in til I downloaded the sample of it. I am looking forward for more good manga and anime series from Kodama Naoko. Keep up your amazing!! work!!
