KEELEY

I know his type. Stuck up. Arrogant. The kind of guy who hasn't had to work for a damn thing his entire life. Even his name, Henry Caldwell III, reeks of privilege.

And me? Well, let's just say I come with more baggage than a 747 and enough bullsh*t to fuel it.

The problem is I want him. Crave him. It's the kind of pure, all-consuming, panty-soaking lust that can make a girl forget why she swore off men to begin with.

He thinks I need saving. But this isn't a Cinderella story, and he's no Prince Charming. At least not mine. I learned long ago that trusting any man with my heart isn't just dangerous - it can be deadly.

HENRY

Emotionally crippled, smart-mouthed, and sexy as sin, the woman is nothing I need and everything I want.

Despite her hard edges, tattoos, and reckless spirit, I know she craves more. More from life, more from love, more from me.

She thinks I'm just a trust fund brat and maybe she's right. But I've got secrets of my own. I know what darkness is. I've lived it - faced the pit of hell and barely survived.

The question is, am I strong enough to face it again? Because if I'm ever going to break through the steel wall she's placed around her heart, it'll mean facing demons we both thought were long dead and buried.

This was a good story for a short read. It was kind of hard to connect with the characters though since it seemed to focus more on the secrets being revealed rather than on Henry and Keeley. Their relationship moved very fast and it became a little hard to believe since there wasn't much page time dedicated to them connecting. Then with all the secrets coming out near the end it got a little messy and the story jumbled together a bit. There were just a lot of things I needed more time spent on within the story to fully feel like I knew what was going on and understanding it. But overall I did think the storyline was good and it was an enjoyable read.

I don't even know how I came across this book, but I'm so glad I did.

4 solid stars for some great and quick insta-love with an alpha hero.

Yes, the guy is rich and the girl isn't which is starting to get a little old. How about a book with a rich ass girl and a poor guy? I like that idea... ... I digress..

I have never heard of this author, and honestly wasn't sure about another "billionaire" romance. However, it worked and I enjoyed it. The heroine is vulnerable but strong and her knight is possessive and hot for only her. LOVE! Good enough sexy times (I'm a pervert so I have high expectations), and I really did feel the connection between the characters.

I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

All of her life, Keeley learned to never trust in anyone but herself. The only time she found a knight in shining armor offering to protect her was when she was a young child, witnessing a terrifying scene. That young boy soothed her fears and gave her his wooden sword as his oath, but Keeley is all grown up now and is no longer holding out for her hero. Then he came rushing in, fists ready, a handsome stranger protecting her from the evil dragon, her ex-boyfriend on a mission to find her troubled brother. He was tall, dark and handsome and he cost her her job. To make things worse, he is wealthy, very wealthy, very alpha and has a need to protect a damsel in distress, whether she wants it or not.

Henry is far from perfect and his idea of being helpful doesn’t always invoke warm and fuzzies, but he is trying, fumbling and stumbling through mistake after mistake. Could it be that maybe Keeley is being too tough on him or is it a Venus and Mars thing?? They come from worlds that could not be more different, but there is more than one unknown link in their pasts and those links may be dangerous and even deadly.

C.M. Seabrook’s Melting Steel will draw you in, hold you captive and have you on the edge of your seat just waiting for Keeley to finally realize her hero has arrived, not on a trusty steed, covered in shining armor, but in a fancy car and designer clothes. For as damaged as Keeley is, Henry has an obsessive NEED to protect this brash and feisty beauty. Together is where they belong and Fate is determined that this time, together they can slay any dragon that crosses their path!

Like a modern day fairy tale, all grown up, C.M. Seabrook’s Melting Steel has it all, the conflict, the danger, the secrets, deceit, and love, hot, angst-filled romance that only learning to trust can truly make a beautiful thing! Sigh, and hopefully, they lived happily ever after...

"My knight. My protector. My champion."

MELTING STEEL by C.M. Seabrook was absolutely mesmerizing! This is the second contemporary romance that I have read by this talented author and once again it was love at first sight!

The moment I began the spellbinding prologue, I was IMMEDIATELY enchanted by this passionate, dramatic and captivating tale about fated soul mates who had a chance encounter as innocent children twenty years earlier that forever impacted their lives. Billionaire tycoon Henry Caldwell is the ultimate ALPHA PROTECTOR, a white knight with a savior complex, and when he crosses paths with the gorgeously tatted, raven haired young woman whom he'd once fearlessly sworn to protect as a brave lad, he is determined to slay her dragons...for real this time.

But the last two decades have taken a toll on Keeley, and even though the tempestuous beauty is powerfully drawn to “Mr. Tall, Dark and Perfect," she is in a heap of trouple and trust does not come easily. Nevertheless, Henry is honor-bound to safeguard the girl of his dreams at all costs, possess her body and soul, and he fights valiantly to melt the steel cage she has erected around her wounded heart. Even in her most heartbreaking moments throughout the years, one memory has always sustained Keeley: "My dark-haired boy, and his promise to find me, to protect me. It was the first time I’d believed that there was something other than darkness in the world."

During the course of this angsty, scorching hot romance these beleagured lovers must combat grave danger and haunting emotional demons but their magnetic attraction cannot be denied.

Ms. Seabrook excels at intertwining romance, drama, suspense, passion and INTENSE feels, and it all culminates in a thrilling, emotionally complex tale that sweeps you off your feet and leaves you in a giddy trance! Each and every moment in this book enraptured me. There were so much desire, roiling tension and fiery, soul-burning love percolating beneath the surface and when it finally reaches a full boil...it is explosive!! Although there was a lot of heartache, peril and emotional hurdles to overcome, love eventually conquers all and I am still swooning from that ENCHANTING epilogue.

Ultimately MELTING STEEL is guaranteed to SLAY your heart, set you all AFLAME, and reignite your PASSION for fairytales and brave knights, and the abiding power of fated love!

5 Bravehearted Stars!!!!!

Keeley and Henry were so freaking adorable.

Melting Steel was one of those books that I devoured. I'm honestly really sad that this was a standalone kind of book. I wish I got more from these two. Henry first met Keeley by becoming her knight... and shining armor. It was so freaking cute and then when they magically met up again, many years later, it was like fate.

Of course, Keeley was in trouble. However, it's not her moms fault this time. Nope, it's her brother's fault. Oh lord, her brother.. I just couldn't like him. I get that he's into drugs and shit.. but damn, he shouldn't have gotten her in harms way. Then there's Henry, oh lord.. did I love him. I love how he was instantly protective of her and how he just fell in love with her pretty quickly too. Again, I loved these two together.

The smut between them was goo but I was hoping for more?? But then again, I just feel like after so many terrible days at work I've needed a pick me up - like more smut than I got.

Overall, I would totally dive into another book by this author.

This was one emotional, passionate, complex and sexy story- the characters were vivid, bright, detailed and the scenes were places I could picture living/ being. The story had a flow from beginning to end which I greatly appreciated. Henry and Keeley had this story , this past which I loved, it was something that was touched on and then built upon in the book because what was a past then was so tangled there was no telling where they started or ended which I loved.
Billionaire tycoon Henry is the ultimate alpha, the protector and when he comes across Keely, he knows there is something special about her and he goes about protecting her even though she refuses to let him. Keely has had a lot happen to her in the past many years which making trust hard but Henry isn’t going to let her push him away and he goes about protecting her, even from herself. Their passionate interactions in this book will make the reader sit up and take notice. There is angst, passion and that passion runs hot. There is a lot of tension and at times suspense and action. But there is also heartbreak and forgiveness. I also read a lot of love, that love between Henry and Keely is real and intense. I loved how Henry fought for Keely and their love. This is a story about how the knight fought the evil dragons/witches and won the fair maidens heart.

My rating: 4.7 stars *****

3.75 "long awaited HEA" stars

I'll be short with this review, I'm not a fan of insta-love, for starters, I dig insta-lust, but LOVE, for me has to be profoundly earned, and I have to "feel" it through out the words, through out the descriptions, through out the actions of the characters...

I don't believe in "love at first sight" either, I believe in chemistry and physical attraction and desire that will lead to further action (ok, sex, duh?!) and then we get to know each other in a more profound way, hence we're getting to the "love" part *sigh*

i know, sounds complicated, but it's not really, I just need that segment of everyday life as real as possible in books as well, cause yeah, I search for the ultimate experience too and like with anything in life, you have to work for it.

other than that, this was an intense drama, intriguingly wrapped up in layers of mystery and secrets that out characters (hot billionaire alpha included) need to peel off in order to find the truth that was not that highly hidden at all and it was actually fate that brought them together, inspite the odds and doubts and secrets and lies...
Sometimes you just have to fight a few dragons to get your happily ever after.

Amen to that!

I seriously devoured this book in a couple hours. I absolutely loved it. For being a shorter book the amount of story that was in it was absolutely amazing. The whole thing it is the cutest love story. Plus when you throw in the It makes the story that much more perfect. There is literally not anything else I would change - except maybe more of Keeley and Henry - one of the cutest couples EVER!

This book was full of amazing!! Author C.M. Seabrook certainly knows how to get things done. Packed full of anger, deceit, pain, love, lust, honor and more. The characters are explosive together and who doesn't love a white knight?! I found myself immediately sucked in it was like overhearing a conversation you weren't supposed to but it was too juicy to not listen until the last heated whisper/secret was spoken. It was phenomenal and there's no way you can possibly not get caught up. You will see. One of my favorite reads this year!!

Heroes do exist! This whole book was balanced perfectly; each character and each scenario was clearly comprised of good and bad and one side contrasted beautifully with the other, adding light to the darkness and vice versa. Henry was quite the hero! He was the kind of guy who would run head-first into danger to save the woman he loves. And he did. But I'm not spoiling anything for you! Let's just say that he's the perfect book-boyfriend if you like your damsels saved by their heroes. Which I do :) Keeley was no pushover, though. The cards were stacked against her, but she kept on, trying to do the right thing and make the best of it. She had some major trust issues, but hey, who wouldn't in her situation. I loved how Keeley and Henry had sort of a history together, and they were unknowingly so influential in each others' lives. The suspense in this one was really something....I did NOT see the final showdown coming, and it made for quite an ending! All in all, another great book by C.M., and I am ABSOLUTELY ecstatic to read what she writes next! ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

I had a running list in my head of all the small issues I had with this book throughout the first half, many of them being related to needing a better editor. (Two different people were wearing "sequenced" dresses. Don't let auto-correct write the story!)

But by the end, none of that matters, because this novel wouldn't be any better for being perfectly proofread and presented. The heart of the problem is that the hero is a controlling and possessive man whose behavior crosses the line into abusive several times and the heroine is a pushover whiner with very little agency who lies back most of the time and lets the hero do whatever he wants--be that have sex with her, make her move in with him, have her followed whenever she leaves his apartment, runs a background check on her, forbids her from leaving later on when she tries to break off their relationship....

[The sex is always consensual, but often of the type that's "I shouldn't sleep with him for ALL OF THESE VERY GOOD REASONS but he's just so hot and I'm just so weak-willed so I'll let him convince me." While I would consider much of the hero's behavior abusive, there is no actual rape. And that's about the best I can say about him.]

On top of that, the two of them fall in InstaLove, despite the only things they have in common being sex and trauma, since eventually it comes out that she's half-sister to his dead best friend he feels guilty for not "saving" from her own mental health issues and eventual suicide. The circumstances surrounding their mutual traumatic past made this impossible for me to read as anything beyond the hero "loving" the heroine because she reminded him of his lost friend, which is so gross.

The circumstances surrounding their mutual traumatic past also spawn a ridiculously contrived suspense subplot involving the drugs, stolen money, the heroine's little brother, and her rape-y ex-boyfriend, which culminates in the hero getting non-fatally shot at his sister's wedding.

The level of melodrama in this was beyond believable. This isn't the worst romance I've read, but it's got to be hanging out down there in the bottom ten somewhere.

This book is just WOW! Henry can fight my dragons any day. but this is the story of a crying little girl and how a little boy with a wooden sword with his initials carved into it said that he would protect her and save her from the dragons. then she disappeared. little did he know how true that one day that would come true.
When he sees her at a club one night he doesn't know it's her, but he wants her and he has to have her. Keeley wants him to but she's scared and she has a lot of problems and her ex is after her because of her little brother Drew. Jax, her ex finds her and things go from bad to worse and she gets fired. Then he knows who Keeley reminds him of, Abby, you will find out more about her as the story goes. Henry gets Keeley to go home with him. but not before he sees the wooden sword with his initials on it. He has been dreaming of her for the last twenty years. he even got a beating because his father thought he had made her up. she agrees, she just wants one night to forget about everything and be treated like she should and oh my Henry does everything right. Keeley feels safe with Henry and she hasn't felt that way in a long time. He promised her he would find her brother and get him the help he needed. for the first time in a long time she feels hope.
His sister Becca is getting married to this guy named Asher and Henry doesn't like him, but for his sister he's try to get along with him. He wants to invite the Sullivan's to the wedding and they believe he's the reason that their daughter Abby is dead. so there is a lot of hard feelings there. Things are going great with them and he wants Keeley to go to the wedding with him. his sister loves her and she had the same weird look on her face that he had like he knew her from somewhere but couldn't quite place it. this whole time Keeley is worried that Jax is going to find her. or Drew will get hurt. then she finds the pictures of Abby and gets a text message from Jax and she decides to go find out what he has to say. She leaves Henry a note telling him she's leaving it's best. she don't know that he has men watching her. Jax told her some very hurtful things and she didn't know who to trust anyone. She just hurt. they found out that her brother had skipped town for now. He also found out that John Sullivan was Keeleys father too, and Drew must be suffering from what Abby had. He had to get Keeley to trust him again after Jax told her all that stuff. These two go through so much but can it be enough to keep them together? Then at the wedding everything goes wrong and Henry gets shot protecting Keeley, he ask her to marry him before they took him away? He slayed the dragons for her. he kept his promise now will he live to make her his wife?
this story had so many twist and turns, this story will have you reading until you finish the book.

One day, a little boy named Henry met a scared little girl crying in the woods behind his house. Her mom was fighting with Abby's dad and it made her run away from them. Since this little boy was a knight who liked slaying dragons and protecting the girls in his life, like his sister Becca and his friend Abby, he decided to protect her, too. He gave her his sword and told her he'd be her champion. He hoped his sword would protect her and keep her safe until he found her again.

20 years later that boy is a man, a really hot, still very protective man, who sees Keeley in a club one night. Something about her draws him in, but she's got walls of steel, and getting past them is going to be really hard for Henry. She hasn't had an easy life, and she knows bad boy heartbreakers like him are not good for women like her. But what neither of them know is that they are tied in ways that go back to their childhoods. And they've both got secrets, secrets that will make a relationship almost impossible to maintain.

I love Melting Steel, it's intense and emotional and Henry and Keeley are really good together. It's a case of insta lust, definitely, but their connection is believable and really sexy. The plot is well thought out, and moves quickly, pushed forward by strong connections between all the characters. I am definitely now a fan of CM Seabrook and look forward to reading more from her.

True love knows no time limit! This story is one of young love, heart ache and fear. You are taken back to a time when being a knight and fighting dragons is the most important thing other than protecting the girls in your life. C.M. Seabrook, is an amazingly wonderful writer who pulls you right into the life of the characters so that you understand what they are dealing with. She also gives you enough depth of the secondary characters that you want to learn more about them. I would love to have a story about Becca and Drew both.
Though I had some trouble getting my copy of the book open. C.M. Seabrook took the time to help me figure out how to fix it. Again thank you for all your help and I can’t wait to read the next ARC book that you have coming out!

This is my first read by C.M. Seabrook and I definitely will be reading from this amazing author. Melting Steal is a beautifully written, fast-paced story with plenty of suspense, anger, heartache, deceit, pain, heart-stopping emotions, some twists and turns, and love. The story-line and interesting and intriguing characters kept me glued to the page. To see the relationship between Keely and Henry develop was great. They conquered obstacle after obstacle and came out stronger in the end.

I only read some reviews after finishing this book and all I will say is... Stick with it!.

I started MELTING STEEL and began to think it was an insta-love romance with a typical, rich alpha bossy male, I thought Henry was so, I don't know, cliche? and this was the typical man meets woman he wants her and the chase begins but I was so wrong. I was pleasantly surprised.

I think me and Henry just got off on the wrong foot, I ended up really liking the guy, swooning even.

Henry and Keeley first meet while Henry is playing near his home he is only 9. Henry sees a little girl crying, a woman in the background is being pushed around and one of his neighbours shouting at her, Henry see's the bruises on Keeley and even at a young age knows in his heart that Keeley is someone he wants to protect. Henry who is obviously going through a knight in shining armour phase in his youth gives Keeley his small wooden sword before she is whisked away by her mother saying it will protect her from Dragons.

Keeley never thought she would run into the boy again who once gave her hope.. Henry also never thought he would ever see the girl he never forgot either, until years later they meet again in a bar and Henry feels drawn to Keely and is determined to in good old cave man fashion to make her his, there is just something about her that he can't shake off and he is determined to get to know her.

This is only tip of the iceberg in this story.

Keeley is feisty, a woman with backbone, she hasn't had the privileged background like Henry. Keeley has a drug addict of a brother, had an abusive mother and now has people after her for her brothers debts.

The plot in MELTING STEEL has plenty of twists and turns, I was more than engrossed as the story progressed and I could not put this book down.

For action, drama, danger, insta-love and a heartwarming hea MELTING STEEL is a recommended read.

Currently Free on Amazon a good sampler of this authors work, I felt everything was balanced out brilliantly, action, drama, hotness and romance. I would definitely read more from this author.

Wow! I'm so happy for Keely. Her childhood is horrendous, and she's been through so much trying to support and protect her brother she finally has a prince like Henry to come an help her get her life to where it should be. I found the romance to be super quick paced, it starts out a little too obsession for me, but it's meant to be a destiny-driven story line. There's a lot of drama in the story, Keely is still trying to help her brother and he's seriously a lost cause. Henry is her happy ending but he knows that her brother is very important to her, so he goes through a lot to help. The ending was cute, can't complain! The throw back to the beginning of the book was a heart-shaped ribbon on the end.

When Henry and Keeley come face to face with each other in the bar where she works the attraction between them both is clear for all to see what they don't realise at the time is that they've both met before way back when the were younger like twenty years before and at that time Henry made a promise to her so fast forward those twenty years and when it finally clicks who she is Henry decides it's a promise he intends to keep he just needs to get Keeley on board. Keeley feels the strong connection between them both but over the years she's built walls up around her heart she's been through soo much and has trust issues she doesn't want to get hurt however Henry manages to break those walls down and after an intense showdown they both get their happily ever after. This book was beautifully written I could feel the emotion the author was portraying, It may have been my first read by this author but it certainly won't be my last.

How many times can one pick themselves up and continue on when life continually kicks you to the curb and reinforces what a worthless person you are? Ten times? Twenty? What if your whole life had been spent in the shadows being beaten, slapped, punched? How much can you take?

Melting Steel is a poignant love story that transcends time and circumstances. From the first meeting of 8-yr-old Henry, and 6-yr-old Keeley, 20 years ago...the seeds of love, hope, and caring were planted. Henry vowed to keep Keeley safe, and slay her dragons...

So often we wish we'd find our own knight--someone to care for us, love us, and keep us safe. This book takes that premise and weaves a beautiful yet painful story as Keeley and Henry come together again. Chivalry is not dead!

C.M. Seabrook, you had me at the prologue!

The moment young brave Henry laid his eyes on the sad, broken little girl, Keely, my heart swelled with emotion. At such a young age, he still had this desire, no need to protect this young girl from anyone or anything that meant her harm.

Fast forward twenty years, and Henry still can't take his eyes off of her. He's drawn to her, yes she reminds him of his dearest friend, but that isn't the real reason for the magnetic pull. And it's not because he remembers who she is either.

They're soulmates, plain and simple. His heart recognizes her.

Poor Keely has been through so much during her young life, but as much heartache and pain she's had to endure, she still tries her best to protect her younger brother. Even if it means hurting herself in the process. She's never had anyone to trust or rely on...Until charming and wealthy Henry walks into her life.

Can she trust him? Or will he let her down like everyone else has in her life?

Guess you'll have to read it to find out.
