Long Valley #2

Arrested by Love

Rate this book
He’s a fighter, not a lover…
Two years ago, Wyatt Miller lost his family to a drunk driver. His heart broken, he slowly put the pieces of his shattered life back together. Running his thousand-acre ranch from dawn till dusk helps him forget about his broken heart. When he stops a drunk from getting behind the wheel one night, he ends up in a bloody fight…and then behind bars.

She keeps men in line, but has a soft heart…
Abby Connelly takes her work at the Long Valley Jail seriously. She has no dreams of marriage, children, or white-picket fences. All she wants is to do her job and please the only family she has left, her father. But the moment rugged and wounded Wyatt Miller walks into her jail, Abby realizes her heart might just have a change of plans…

But small towns have a way of holding onto big grudges. Wyatt and Abby have an uphill fight to overcome the bad blood between the Miller and Connelly families.

Because redemption never comes easy…

Arrested by Love is the third novel in the Long Valley world, although all books in the Long Valley world can be read as standalones. It has some strong language, and oh my, sexy times. Enjoy!

Slow burn

3.5 stars for this slow burn romance. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Wyatt and Abby. The first half was interesting but it didn’t hold its pace and I felt like something was missing. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable read.

The story of the oldest brother Wyatt, who was not so pleasant in the other book gets his story. Wyatt is a loner especially after a tragic incident, he has a chip on his shoulder, is rude, doesn't smile, has an attitude and anger issues. When he beats a drunk driver he gets thrown into jail where Abby works as a police officer. While spending his time in there for many many weeks, he starts to see Abby in a new light and starts to have feelings for her. Abby always thought that Wyatt was the sexiest of the brothers and soon her feelings start to grow for him as well. Unfortunately they have a few things not going for them, she's his parole officer, her dad hates him, they live in a small town where everybody talks and he still has anger issues he needs to deal with.
A great thorough story with steamy scenes and I enjoyed their build up of their relationship and how kind Abby was, always seeing the good in people and not judging and Wyatt getting past his issues and getting to see who he really is under all the gruff.

3.5 rounded to 4 stars... I liked this one. It is the second in a series (and I did not realize that) but you don't need to have read the first to enjoy this...although I will probably go back and read the first story (about the younger brother). This story involves the oldest of three Miller brothers, Wyatt. He's a surly self-righteous so-and-so, but he's had to fight for most of his life and as his backstory unfolds, well, maybe he's not so much of an ass as he seems. But then his ex-BIL roars into a convenient store, half drunk and looking to finish the job, when he won't listen to reason, Wyatt resorts to his fists to make him see the error of his ways. It's Wyatt, however, who ends up behind bars. Abby is a local cop and her father, the Sheriff. She spends a lot of time as Wyatt awaits a trial in another county and the judge would not allow bail since the person Wyatt assaulted was the judge's son. The time they spend together is a slow build to an inevitable ending. There's some nice spicy heat by the final third of the book and it is worth the wait. I will be looking for more of the Miller brothers. Yum.

Quote I liked:

If you won't change your circumstances, how will your change your outlook on those circumstances?

Thoughts: I read the first book in this series, but I think this one is better. Wyatt is a really good character. Abby, the local cop, is okay, but needs a bit more depth. Their relationship is great. And I liked that her problem wasn't suddenly resolved and they had a perfect life in the end, truer to real life. Recommended

Absolutely wonderful! Strong characters, small town setting - a touching love story!

Just the right amount of drama - family feuds, misunderstandings and a biased judge sets the stage for this (almost forbidden) love story.

Wyatt Miller is at the Long Valley Jail awaiting his trial in Boise after stopping a drunk driver from getting behind the wheel, a drunk who happens to be his former brother-in-law and son of a local judge who has denied bail when Wyatt's lawyer asks for a change of venue due to the obvious conflict of interest. In denying bail, Wyatt is forced to wait about 5 weeks in jail before his court date in Boise.

Wyatt Miller has suffered personal losses (I don't want to reveal his other circumstances) the most serious being the death of his wife and daughter at the hands of a drunk driver. In addition, there has been a longstanding misunderstanding between Wyatt and the town's sheriff that complicates matters when Abby Connelly (the sheriff's daughter who is also a deputy) has been put in charge of him while he's in jail.

Abby Connelly is a strong, dedicated deputy who takes her professional role seriously and is appalled at the blatant prejudice the judge shows against Wyatt, essentially putting Wyatt's livelihood as a farmer in jeopardy at a time when his crops need to be harvested. Adding to that, Abby is well aware of the issues between her father and Wyatt which further complicates matters.

But a funny thing happens as Abby and Wyatt learn more about each other during his time in her jail. She sees a side of Wyatt that others do not - a man who has suffered serious heartache and disappointments in the past who now sees that he must change his attitude even when he can't change the circumstances. And it is this man who wants to change, wants to be a better man that charms Abby.

This is a beautiful love story with many layers - we see different sides of the main characters that draws you more and more into their story. In the end, you are hoping they can overcome the obstacles in their way in finding happiness together!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I love the way that Erin Wright makes you really love her main characters and feel what they are feeling. And Wyatt, the bad boy lead in Arresting is hard to love at first. He has had a tough time but he seems to solve his problems with his fist, which lands him in jail under deputy Abby's supervision. It turns out that jail is the best things for him and you start to really root for his transformation. The book is very romantic, but it is also humorous with some great analogies and funny scenes. I appreciate the way that Ms. Wright's series of books, set in Long Valley, Idaho, bring back some of the characters from her other books. It is a small town after all, but each book stands alone. The author really nails small town life, for all its pros and cons, too.
Wyatt and Abby go through some real life angst as they realize that they should not be attracted to each other, for many reasons, and that they have some real barriers to a relationship, but they can't help falling in love. Their sexual tension explodes on the page at last in some steamy scenes. And, like in other books in the series, there are some endearing animals in the family too. And I like the fact that Ms. Wright's books show how real life families have conflicts and jealousies and tension, but they come together when the going gets tough. But don't take my word, pick up a copy and enjoy the book yourself!

Wyatt is a hurting man, and like any dangerous animal, he settles differences with his fists and asks questions later. In a small town run by authoritarians who have no liking for him, Wyatt is an outcast and unpopular. It took me time to warm up to him as a hero, but as he is brought to a place where he has nothing else to do other than think about how he reached that state of affairs, he starts to acknowledge that perhaps there are other ways to deal with conflict. Abby is the police officer who is assigned to keep watch over him whilst incarcerated, and although she is cautious, she is also fair. Unlike her father who cannot view the matter other than in a negative light. Abby becomes a light in Wyatt's life and as one day rolls into the next, they find that they have more in common than they first believed possible. Set against the backdrop of a small town where it is impossible to keep secrets, Wyatt and Abby's relationship has very little hope of succeeding. However, when destructive forces go too far in trying make Wyatt look bad, the situation finally begins to turn around. I enjoyed the interaction between Wyatt and Abby and how her kindness towards him is a healing balm to his broken soul, bringing change in its wake. As a non-American I really hope that this book does not depict small communities in the US, that are governed by bigoted men who because they have been elected into office, feel they have the right to ride rough shod over lesser mortals. It would be a really sad state of affairs. Arrested by Love is a well written story with good flow of language and very few typos. It forms part of a series and characters in previous books appear in this one as well, nevertheless the book can be read as a standalone. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Wyatt Miller lost his wife and daughter three years ago when a drunk driver ran into his wife's car. His father-in-law blamed him (Wyatt blamed himself some) as he was tired after working on the farm all day and told his wife she had to go out with their daughter to get the needed milk. While out getting the milk was when she was hit by the drunk driver. He is not a happy person now and has taken his anger out by hitting people. He was out at the convenience store when his ex-brother-in-law drove up drunk and then bought a 24 pack of beer. Wyatt proceeded to go tell him that he couldn't drive when his brother-in-law called him a killer. That was all it took for him to beat the crap out of him and then was thrown in jail. Unfortunately the sheriff did not like Wyatt either so he had his deputy daughter Abby take care of him. It really wasn't Wyatt's year as his ex wife's father was the judge. Wyatt's lawyer asked for the case be sent to Boise because of the parties involved. The judge was fine with that as that county was booked up to after the first of the year and it was then October.

This was a very good book. Abby was attracted to Wyatt and felt like he was getting a raw deal all around--from her father, from the judge, and from the people of the town. It was interesting how the two got to know each other better with Wyatt living in the jail. I loved how his counseling helped him to make better decisions moving forward. There were things about Abby that she hadn't told Wyatt that caused some problems for the two. Of course that was just one of many things they had to get past. This is a great story that flows well. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Brooksprout, and I am leaving a voluntarily review.

I have never read a book by author, Erin Wright. However, I have always been a fan of romantic westerns, and good ones are hard to find. Ms. Wright books sounded interesting, so I decided to try one. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.

First of all, this is a modern western, and it takes place in the small town of Love Valley. This is a series of books that take place in this very small town where everyone pretty much knows each other. Although this is the third book in this series, I did not have any trouble reading and enjoying this book even though I had never read the first two.

This is the story of farmer, Wyatt Miller and assistant sheriff, Abby Connelly who happens to be the sheriff’s daughter. Wyatt is a widower who lost his wife and young daughter when, several years ago, their car was hit by a drunk driver.

I enjoyed reading this book which is the love story of two people whose love is severely hindered by the small town attitudes and characteristics of the citizens who live iin Loving Valley.

The book is a very tame version of an excellent love story. However, I, recently, found out that if I would rather read a more realistic story, Erin Wright writes two versions of her books; one is a regular mainstream version, while the other is called “A SWEET Western Romance Novel.” Since, I found this version a little too tame for me, I am very happy to have the ability buy one that might better fit my taste.

However, I absolutely recommend Arrested By Love, and I, emphatically, love that I can choose whichever version I prefer. I, definitely, plan to read more books by this author.

5 Stars++. I was so excited to read this book! I have been anticipating this book for so long and it did NOT disappoint!! No worries about spoilers, there aren't any in here.
This book is about Wyatt, the oldest brother of the Miller family, it is a continuation, if you will, of book one, Accounting for Love about Wyatt's youngest brother Stetson but you don't have to read that book to fully enjoy this book.
Wyatt Miller, oldest brother, grumpy, gruff, sexy, handsome, horse lover, suffering soul (he lost his wife and daughter to a drunk driver). Abby Connelly, deputy, daughter to the Sheriff, curvy, sweet, horse lover, girl next door.
The twists and turns in this story kept me turning pages and anticipating what Wyatt or Abby or Jasmine the Cat or Maggie Mae (the dog) or any of the other bevy of delightful characters in this engaging, enthralling, twisting, turning, sweet, sexy, charming and steamy story would do next.
I would encourage anyone who enjoys love stories with cowboys, horses, kids, cats, dogs and sexy, sweet, steamy HEA stories to read this wonderfully amazing story! I am totally over the moon about this book!!
I cannot wait to read the next book, the story of Declan (the middle brother).
Bravo Erin! Bravo!!

Erin Wright At Her Best

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Erin is a superb author that gets better with each book she writes and her first was amazing! She puts so much passion and a wealth of emotions into her books that draws you in and keeps you spellbound to the very end. Each book in the Long Valley series is connected yet it's own standalone story. Those are some of my favorite kinds of books. I love getting to spend time catching up with beloved characters I know from previous books when they show up. Can't wait for the next one!!

Wyatt has not had an easy time of it ever since he lost his family to a drunk driving "accident". And when he sees someone drinking and driving he loses it, big time. He beats the heck out of the guy and puts him in the hospital in serious condition, but he was so enraged that he blacked out and only remembers the very beginning. He is rather surprised when he wakes up in jail to the sound of his brother's voices and he's not happy that they are there.
Abby the sheriff's daughter is assigned to keep a close eye on Wyatt, out of trouble and away from the sheriff.
Neither was expecting to develop feelings for the other in the process and they fight them incessantly.
Is there a HEA or these two or are they doomed to travel through life, lonely and alone?

Arrested by Love. This book continues the story about the Miller Brothers in Long Valley, Idaho. This book helps us to understand more about Wyatt and why he is so angry. He is still trying to get over the loss of his wife and daughter from a drunk driver. He sees the judge's son, Richard, buying beer even though he is already drunk. Wyatt sees red and attacks him which lands him in jail. The judge and Sheriff have issues with Wyatt, so the lawyer asks to send him to the judge in Boise instead. But then the storm hits and Wyatt is stuck in jail with Deputy Abby and his brother Declan. Abby and Wyatt strike up a good relationship that melts Abby that she goes and let Wyatt have his dog stay in the jail with him. Once Wyatt gets to court and finds out his judgment, he is released and back home to do his community service with his friend Adam. Wyatt asks Abby to come help him at the farm where they work with foster and underprivileged children with issues learn to work with horses. This draws Wyatt and Abby closer, but Abby has a secret that see thinks will destroy Wyatt and her relationship if he finds out. The plot thickens. This is a great series I am enjoying greatly!!

I received an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing.

This is another awesome book in this series. I LOVE Wyatt even with all of his anger issues. He was angry at his parents for giving his youngest brother the family farm in stead of him. He was also angry that his wife and child were killed by a drunk driver but he also carried guilt because he sent them out instead of going himself that night. It is great to see how he changes after he starts counseling and working with the kids and with Abby being about the only one on his side when everyone else thinks he is nothing but a loser. Seeing him change has also affected the way a few of the townspeople see him also. Although I thought things were done between Wyatt and Abby when he supposedly got drunk at the gender reveal party.
Does Abby truly believe that he got drunk knowing that he hasn't had a drop since his family was killed? Will Wyatt ever be able to get along with Abby's dad? Will Wyatt and Abby work things out or will Wyatt decide that he wants his own children more than he wants just Abby?

Once again Erin Wright has written a captivating western romantic novel with engaging characters. Wyatt Miller lost his wife and child to a drunk driver and hasn't been the same since. When he sees his ex-brother-law attempting to drive drunk he loses his cool and beats him up and send him to the hospital. Arrested for assault and battery Wyatt is incarcerated in the local jail. Unable to get bail and waiting for his trial in a different jurisdiction Wyatt has plenty of time to appreciate his very pretty jailer. Abby Connelly, Wyatt's jailer also has plenty of time to get to know Wyatt and is definitely likes what she sees. Unfortunately there is a lot of bad blood between Miller and Connelly families. Ms. Wright has found just the right formula to solve the problem of these two star-crossed lovers and bring them both to their happy-ever-after. This was a great book to read and I hardily recommend it.

I received this book from the author and I am freely posting this fair and balance review.

3.75 Stars. I liked the originality of the plot, as having a jailer fall in love with her prisoner and visa-versa is not the typical theme for a romance novel.
The leading man, Wyatt, was an angry man that thought with his fist. His life was destroyed when he lost his wife and little daughter to a drunk driver. He hasn’t had a reason to smile in years. That changed when a spunky, cute deputy become part of his daily life. For over a month, Wyatt was stuck in the local jail waiting for his court date, under the watchful eye of Deputy Abby Connelly.
With the help of a caring brother, a loyal dog, a smart counselor, a fair judge, the kids at therapy camp, and an understanding probation officer, Wyatt took his life back. In that life, he wanted Abby. Abby had her own issues, a father/boss that can’t stand Wyatt, and an event from her childhood that still impacted her. Abby was tired of the town gossip and small minded people that cannot let the past go. It was finally Abby’s time to go after what she wanted. She wanted Wyatt, warts and all. It sure was entertaining and sexy to see the brazen side of Abby.

In my opinion this story rates 10 stars. It is contemporary western romance that I found to be a fantastic read and I loved it. Wyatt and Abby’s love story is emotionally intense and kept my interest. Both were dealing with personal and emotional issues and how they resolve these issues makes for an excellent and believable story. After the tragic death of his wife and daughter, Wyatt’s life spiraled out of control and anger took over. After a childhood accident, Abby felt inadequate as a woman. The plot is beautifully executed by the author as bad boy Wyatt learns to turn his life around and find love a second time with Abby. Liked the surprise twists at the end and the epilogue.
Erin Wright’s writing is smooth and flawless, the editing is perfect and the characters have well developed personalities. I highly recommend “Arrested by Love.” You will enjoy it as much as I did.

I absolutely loved this book about Wyatt & Abby. Wyatt has been misunderstood his whole life. After losing his wife & daughter in a tragic accident involving a drunk driver he retreats to his own private hell. When Wyatt assaults the local judge's son Richard who also happened to be his brother-in-law after seeing Richard buy more beer after drunk driving Wyatt sees red. Wyatt is then arrested and held in the local jail until his trial where is his looked after by Abby the sheriff's daughter.

Abby can see the real man behind his tough exterior and they gradually fall in love. Wyatt has to work through his guilt about his wife & daughter but also his other issues with his family before he thinks he is worthy of her love.

Highly entertaining, sweetly sexy, engagingly charming and emotionally thrilling romantic adventure for one lonely farmer and equally lonely deputy both with interesting pasts that intertwine.

Wyatt Miller is the oldest, broody, distant and uses his fists to teach what he feels are needed lessons. He is so angry at life that romance is the not even on his radar. (except that he misses having a family, and longs for a wife and child) Abby Connelly is the sweet, sassy daughter of the local sheriff and only looking to do her job and do it well for her town and her community and the only family she has left her father. The sparks between these two are unexpected and so forbidden not just because they find each other on opposite sides of a jail cell. Loved every heart pounding twist and turn.

ARRESTED BY LOVE. Long..Valley # 3. By Erin Wright. Wyatt was single his dinners came from the convenience store. Life in small town, when open late meant nine o'clock. Sheriff and deputy were father and daughter. They knew Wyatt was back in town, when news came of the fight, outside store.
He winds up in jail for stopping the judge's son from driving drunk. It seems this town has little patience, and big grudges. He hasn't touched alcohol since, but the fights do continue. With a repeat of landing in jail again, though what happened. Interesting story of life in a small town, people get hurt, or killed, and how they react. Will be an interesting book to read, as either a stand alone or as the series. Given ARC. For my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Excellent contemporary romance with a western theme. Wyatt grew up on a farm and eventually became a farmer himself. He lost his wife and daughter not long ago to a drunk driver. Now Wyatt tends to act first with his fists than talking which ends to a fight and he ends up in jail. The town is full of gossipers so all secrets are quickly in the open. Abby is the deputy sheriff that takes him into custody. Unfortunately her dad, the town sheriff, hates Wyatt. The judge presiding over his case orders him to jail until his case can be heard in another country because it's the judges son he beat up. Sparks fly between Abby and Wyatt but it's considered unethical. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

This is the third book in the Long Valley Series and features heartbroken rancher Wyatt Miller. He lost his family to a drunk driver and has been mourning ever since. He has no interest in anything other than his ranch. He has a tendency to solve his problems and take out his frustrations by fighting. The latest fight ended him in jail where he meets Abby who works there. Abby just happens to be the daughter of his families long time rival. In small towns they take family feuds seriously. This book was well written and it was hard not to like Wyatt and Abby and pull for them. It's definitely an emotional roller coaster with lots of surprises and suspense. A great read definitely a five star one.

Arrested by Love❤️

Arrested by Love is book two in the Long Valley series about the Miller brothers!

This time, Wyatt is the one on the chopping block in more ways than one. When he spots his ex-brother-in-law driving drunk and buying more alcohol, he goes a bit crazy and gets himself arrested😳 Due to small town prejudices (and no one bothering to find out the whole story), he’s denied bail and has to stay in their small town jail - but this is not a hardship for Wyatt considering the Deputy Abby is a gorgeous package to look at which he only figures out later down the track❣️

A really sweet story of the Deputy and the farmer who on paper couldn’t be more opposite but in reality are perfect for each other😍 Loved it and looking forward to reading Declan’s story next😁

After receiving an ARC, I purchased a copy. I just love Ms. Wright.

This is a fantastic book. I love the series. It is hard to believe but they get better and better with each one. The characters are so believable and the plot so interesting. The books just flow so easy, that I just get lost in the story. Before I know it, it is ending. I feel like I'm losing my best friends. But never fear, they always reappear in another book and I get to fall in love with another couple.

I highly recommend this book and author to anyone. Like I mentioned earlier, I purchase her books to help support a wonderful author.

Wyatt lost his wife and daughter in an accident and since that day he has been unhappy, lonely and sad, just focus on running his ranch.
Abby just thinks of doing her job well to make her father happy.
A story about how people can change the life of a person just spreading some ill words. Once you are accused of something, it is very difficult to change that thought from people’s mind but not impossible.
I liked how Abby is able to see what the rest of the people can’t.
Well-written and well-developed, a story to enjoy by all the readers who love to have a good time with a book in their hands.

After reading the first books in this series I wasn't sure Wyatt could be redeemed. He was such a condescending jerk. But, with this story Ms Wright pulled it off. You find out what is actually going on in Wyatt's head and it makes him seem more human. Although I still wanted to punch him after his reaction when Abby told him her secret. Abby probably deserves a medal for putting up with not only Wyatt but her father also. She definitely is a strong willed woman. I have read and loved all the books in this series. They continue to keep me hooked. Ready for the next one

This story touched me, I really felt for Wyatt to loose everyone you love and have to go on is hard. To be imprisoned because you tried to stop it happening to someone else, well.... This book made me feel so many emotions, I wanted to laugh, to cry to shout in places I was also very angry in places too. All signs of a good author in my opinion the pictures she paints with her words are so moving.

The story was well written and the characters were totally believable I read this book from beginning to end in one sitting and at the end I felt very emotional. I read an ARC of this book from Book Sprout and am voluntarily writing this review.
