What does astrology say about Charles Manson, Jeffery Dahmer, and Ted Bundy? A true crime reporter (Lasseter) and noted astrologer (Holliday) team up to present in-depth readings of 50 astrological profiles they claim present evidence that murder was in the stars for the world's most notorious killers.
Don Lasseter has written five true crime books for Pinnacle plus 16 magazine articles that were reprinted in Pinnacle's anthology books about murders. In addition to being a crime writer, Mr. Lasseter is a WWII historian who frequently lectures on the subject in schools, at service clubs, and for veteran's groups. He accompanies his talks with slide packages titled "WWII, Then and Now", consisting of photos he took while actually retracing most major battles in Western Europe and in the South Pacific. Taking black and white combat photos with him, Mr. Lasseter laboriously searched for the exact spots on which the photographers stood and shot the same scenes as they look today. He accumulated over 1500 such pictures associated with various battles including the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Bulge, crossing the Rhine, taking Berlin, and other major engagements.
A native Californian, Mr. Lasseter resides in Orange County. He has served as guest lecturer in criminology classes at California State University, Fullerton. Hollywood history is Mr. Lasseter's third major interest. His personal library includes an extensive collection of movie books, and he takes pride in being able to name hundreds of old character actors whose faces are often seen in classic films. One day, Lasseter says, he will write books, both fiction and non-fiction, about the golden era of film production and the people involved.
Zodiac of Death is a collection of mini biographies of some of the most notorious killers in the 20th Century written by true crime reporter Dan Lasseter followed an explanation of their horoscope that astrologist Dana Holliday attempts to explain as fulfilling the individual’s destiny. After reading the first individual’s biography and horoscope, I instantly decided to skip all the rest of the horoscopes as I did not understand anything written and didn’t want to waste my time with the rest of the book figuring those sections out. That meant I was reading the mini biographies—basically life and crimes in “wonderful” detail—of some of the worst human beings who’ve walked the earth and frankly I wanted to get through it as quickly as possible to get this book off my shelf and to a used book store.
A lighthearted romp through the astrology of serial and mass murder with a mere sprinkling of terrorism. The author doesn't overwhelm you with undefined terminology, which is nice, but she also sticks entirely to the natal chart and general personality traits of the killer rather than addressing, say, whether or not the transits show that this killer committed a crime on the day that he denied killing so-and-so. In any case it was a fun read.
Two stars because I don't believe any longer in astrology. I did during the time I bought the book. I suppose there is no reason to get this book unless you have a strong interest in zodiacs and charts.
This was an interesting and intriguing book! This book profiles and horoscopes 50 notorious criminals. The book is divided into the horoscope signs. In each of those signs the author gives a two page run down on the criminals crime and then using their birth sign, birthdate, time of birth etc., correlates how the person's horoscope in total relates or possibly foretold the crimes they comitted.
If you're a true crime fan like me you'll LOVE this book!!
