'Cooked to Death' wound up being the perfect recipe for my busy calendar: I kept myself on a strict diet of just one story a day to satisfy my curiosity. However, in doing so, it also ensured I would be hungry for more the next time I had a chance to sit down and savor the opportunity to read. The stories are delicious and meant to be shared! (Best served with a mixed cocktail; blends well with the assortment of adventurous stories.)

A wide range of crime or mystery short stories from Minnesota authors that have a common theme--food. Some are funny, some are dark, all are well crafted and reflect a part of Minnesota locales or characters that most of us Minnesotans have met at one time or another. Worth a read if only for the recipes, which look delicious (Lobster Flambe in Whiskey! Mrs. Potter's Flourless Chocolate Torte! Mmmm!) I'll certainly try some of them and perhaps re-read the accompanying stories as I cook. :-)

This was a really interesting book of mysteries short stories. It was from writers in the Midwest and I enjoyed it. It’s a really quick read but I’ll centered around food and has recipes. Just thought it was fun.

Very fun to read about some places that I have personal experience with. The "Elizabeth's Harvest Stew" recipe is one of my new favorites.
