This book opened my eyes to the behind scenes going and coming and the battle the addict rages with daily. But on the other hand it almost made me feel sad.. It lays out the steps to take when dealing with this in your marriage or family.. I realize there is a long road ahead. And maybe my sadness comes from seeing where I am on this journey and the lack of response on the other side. Maybe it brought clarity to my life and the darkness to light on what I am going through.
While this book holds a little more of a clinical view of sexual addictions, it is a definite must for any one in a counseling position to a couple in the recovery/restoration process. It is NOT a step by step practical book like Jason Martinkus book Worthy of Her Trust. It IS a what to ask, what not to ask, what to say and how to listen type of book. That being said, I appreciated the list of need-to-know questions included and why it is a counselor and spouse need to know them. Also, I liked the break down if the three types of counseling most commonly available and what to look for when seeking counseling/giving counseling. Over all the book is very broad but helpful.
