In the Bodyguard’s Arms by Lisa Childs is the seventh book in the Bachelor Bodyguards series. It blends romance, suspense, and action well. Teddie Plummer is a supermodel with a stalker. She has hired the Payne Protection Agency to guard her and hopefully catch the stalker. Jordan “Manny” Mannes takes the assignment.

This book has instant attraction between the two main characters that developed too fast for me. Of course, that doesn’t mean either of them wants a relationship. Both Teddie and Manny are well-developed characters and both have flaws rooted in trust issues.

The book is reasonably well paced and largely set in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There is some humor mixed in as well that was enjoyable. However, this book was too predictable for me to rate it above 3 stars. Additionally, the ability to adequately protect Teddie seemed lackluster for a professional protection agency.

This novel worked fine as a standalone. If you enjoy Harlequin romantic suspense novels, then you may like this one too. Most reviewers have enjoyed this one much more than I did.

This is my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and are not biased in any way. Publication date was January 1, 2018.

Good book with a nice blend of romance and building suspense. Teddie is a supermodel who has been plagued by a stalker. After an attack that took place at her mother's house, Teddie hired Payne Protection to guard her. The bodyguard assigned to her is Manny.

Manny is one of Cooper's Marine buddies who has come to work with him. He's a big man, a bit rough around the edges, and honorable to the bone. He also avoids relationships, believing that because of his family history he is not a good bet.

I enjoyed the way that Manny ended up with this assignment. Having watched previous bodyguards fall in love with the women they've been assigned to protect, he adamantly refuses to take the job protecting the model. Instead, he insists on taking the one for "Ted," not realizing that they are the same. He was not happy when he arrived at his destination and discovered the truth. What made it even more fun was that Manny had once had a poster of Teddie and a bit of a crush on her. From the moment they met, there was no doubt about the strength of the attraction between them. Both have good reasons to resist. Teddy has been betrayed in the past by people she has gotten close to and feared that it could happen again. For Manny, besides the fact that Teddy is a client, he also sees a huge difference between him as a bodyguard and her as a supermodel. But fate will not be denied. I enjoyed seeing them get to know each other and find that there were some things that they had in common. It was sweet to see how Manny's protectiveness became very personal very quickly. Teddie also became protective of Manny and worried about the stalker going after him. There were a couple of times when Manny got spooked by the strength of his feelings a pulled back, but that didn't last long. However, there was a huge problem at the end when something happened that made Teddie believe that Manny had betrayed her. I was angry at her for believing that when she should have known better. I ached for Manny and how her accusations hurt him and didn't blame him too much for lashing out. Their big moment at the end was sweet and romantic. I enjoyed the reactions of those around them.

The action and suspense started as soon as Manny arrived at Teddie's hideout. The stalker had found her and Manny's arrival thwarted the man's attack. The escalation of the man's actions throughout the book kept me on the edge of my seat as I waited to see what would happen next. I liked the teamwork of the whole crew as they worked together to find out who the stalker was. There were times that I wanted to shake Teddie for her stubborn refusal to believe what Manny tried to tell her. She also made some stupid decisions that put herself and others in danger. The final confrontation was intense as the truth was uncovered and the team tried to get to Teddie in time.

I admit to being a little disappointed in the team's attempts to keep Teddie safe. There were too many times when the stalker actually succeeded in getting his hands on her. I did like how Teddie kept her wits and fought back, buying her the time for help to arrive. I was also a bit angry at Cooper's attitude near the end and his reluctance to believe that Manny was right. It was satisfying to see Manny proved right and the team's support. I liked that Cole had believed in Manny, even if he was skeptical about Teddie. I'm looking forward to reading Cole's story, especially with the hints that have been dropped about his past.

It was a fun yet quick read! I gave it a 4, but really a 3.5 stars as the ending was rushed & felt out of sync with the rest of the novel like it was leading up to something more. Not even an epilogue was found! Which is not the end of the world clearly just I did grow quite fond of our main characters especially our leading heroine tough as nails when needed to be & yet the appeal to have a hunky rugged stud to provide protection over body & soul is hard to resit!!!! 😉🤩🔥😂😍

I’m obsessed with anything about a bodyguard falling in love with his client...so when I found this book at the store I had to read it, and it was a good read. If you are looking for a quick romantic suspense read I recommend it... my only gripe with this book is that Jason and the company he worked for wasn’t really a “GOOD Bodyguard”...I don’t know how many times Teddie got hurt under his protection (LOL). But nonetheless their chemistry was cute and I’m a sucker for epic LOVE!!!

Teddie Plummer is a supermodel and she's being bothered by a nasty stalker. She hires the world's most utterly useless bodyguard agency to protect her. The lead bodyguard is Jordan "Manny" Mannes.

I have never seen bodyguards so horrendously bad at their jobs as was the case here! It was insane! It completely took me out of the story.

Rather than being taken in by the admittedly decent pacing or the romance between Teddie and Jordan, I was staring in horrified disbelief at the pages as time and time and time again, Teddie's stalker was able to attack her, despite having SIX bodyguards apparently "protecting" her.

And I can't say I felt the romance much. Teddie and Jordan are hot for each other, have a lot of sex and shared their sad pasts, but it didn't convince me much. To be frank, I felt more of a love connection between Jordan and his colleague, Cole.

From start to finish, this was littered with every single character making one stupid, idiotic move after another. It absolutely did my head in! They were all such clueless numbskulls that by the end, I was cheering on the stalker!

Note: although the stalker's identity is kept secret, it's pretty arbitrary. There really aren't any characters other than dumb Teddie and her even dumber bodyguards.

And what was with all the unnecessary viewpoints from the other bodyguards? I didn't really need to know what Cooper, Cole, Lars, Nikki and Dane were thinking or how much they loved their significant other. This was supposed to be Teddie and Jordan's story. Convince me of their love! Not these other braindead bodyguards!

And what is with this line's tendency to have the hero or heroine believe the absolute worst of the other with little justification, or for the hero or heroine to say really toxic things to the other? I don't like it.

I understood that Teddie and Jordan had trust issues, but they way they behaved (Teddie, more so) just made them look petty and dumb(er).

The final nail in the coffin was the arbitrary, silly mention that Cooper and members of his family have "premonitions" of something bad happening. Keep the supernatural out of my romantic suspense stories, please!

This was fast-paced, but I didn't enjoy it. I was getting too frustrated and distracted by all the characters' constant, relentless dumb idiot moves that were only there to service the plot. Don't keep telling me these bodyguards are the best in their business when their actions clearly contradict this time and time and time again!

That's it from me for the Romantic Suspense line for a little bit! Maybe onto a more standard thriller. Probably featuring a girl/woman/mother/daughter/wife/widow/sister with a horrible secret in her past.

A really enjoyable read full of suspense, twists and turns, and plenty of romance.

Supermodel Teddie Plummer is living in fear from the unwanted attentions of a stalker, and hires the Payne Protection Agency to keep her safe. Ex-Marine Jordan Mannes (Manny) once had a poster of Teddie on his wall, but can't afford to let his attraction to her get in the way of his job. The chemistry between Teddie and Manny is excellent, and their relationship is believable as they face danger whilst trying to unmask the mystery stalker.
It's a very well written book with lots of suspense as the stalker ups his game, and there's a sense of danger for both Teddie and Manny as they cross the line from client and bodyguard to lovers. Manny is a great hero, and, if anything, Teddie is a little too stubborn to believe his theory that the stalker is someone she knows (she assumes its an obsessed fan of her career) - it's almost heartbreaking how she treats Manny at times as he's clearly talking a lot more sense than she is willing to believe.
Whilst there is a sense of danger and a lot of suspense, there's also plenty of romance, and the journey to happy every after is quite sweet in an amongst the drama.
I haven't read the previous books in this series, but this story is a stand alone book with references to what I assume happened with some of the other Payne Protection men in the previous books. I was also intrigued by the hints about Manny's friend and co-worker Cole's background, and I guess this lays the foundations for the next instalment. Well written and recommended.

Bunch of fools in this book.Such stupid decisions everyone took. I was fine with the hero and heroine but then what she did make me lose all respect for her.I wanted to slap her.
Manny deserved so much better.
The villain always managed to outsmart everyone in this book. I thought about rooting for him since these people deserved it. Too idiotic for their own good. Don't know how they managed to be in bodyguard business.
I am really shocked because I have read some of the previous books and I was not expecting this shit
