In the fallout from the attack on G.I.R.L. by the Red Room, lives and the future of the lab hang in the balance. Nadia is lost, drifting and unsure how to move forward. Now, there's only one heroine who can save the day and that is...THE WASP! Janet Van Dyne is on the scene to save the day. But the Red Room is not done yet. Can Janet take on the superhuman bounty hunters who have been contracted to retrieve Nadia and Ying?

It's like getting hit by Taskmaster. It's fast, it's sharp, it's precise. I guess that's what happens when you grow up in assassination day care.
When I saw Janet Van Dyne on the first page, I got so happy. I absolutely love her character as the Wasp, and I really enjoyed how this issue was told more from her perspective.
Also, while I do think Veronica Fish did a really good job on the art, I still like Elsa Charretier's style more (ex: issue #6).
10 Reasons I Stan Janet Van Dyne (And So Should You)
1. Janet has a hard time falling asleep at night, which is highly relatable, and she realizes she has to prioritize self-care. God, more superheroes should prioritize self-care. It's so vital guys. Also, her "me-time" involves candles, a bubble bath, and reading smutty fan magazines of former Avengers? How iconic.
2. Also, despite the fact she's almost asleep, Janet literally sprints out of bed and races to the house when Matt calls and says Nadia's in trouble.
3. Unlike many superheroes, Janet knows and understands trauma and how we react to it. She realizes she should have never grabbed Nadia's arm when Nadia was freaking out. (Bonus: Her description of Nadia's punch, "It's fast, it's sharp, it's precise. I guess that's what happens when you grow up in assassination day care" is perfect.)
4. Janet tries so hard to be a calm and supportive adult to her stepdaughter, and it's beautiful. She convinces her to let the orderly go, reassures Nadia by checking the identities of the doctors, and tries to bring her out of a funk by teaching her about junk food.
5. Janet recognizes that Nadia needs a hug from her and just doing that even if it's not in her own comfort zone. "I don't hug a lot of people. Maybe it's my upbringing. Maybe it's that I'm from New Jersey. Maybe I'm just not a hugging person. But she is, and for a minute, I know this is the most important thing I can do."
6. Janet doesn't want to be pigeon-holed as the "team mom" and doesn't view herself as the maternal type, but she is willing to try for Nadia. "I've never been the maternal type. I never had kids. I was always doing my own thing. And yet... this girl gets to me. She's such a little ray of hope. I want her to be happy."
7. "My secret power is that I get things done," says Janet Van Dyne as she attempts to fix pretty much all of Nadia's problems because she loves that girl and wants to support her. God, if only we all had a Janet Van Dyne.
8. Janet is as good a superhero as she is a mother figure. She kicks ass, she quickly makes plans, and she has quippy, fashion-related comebacks.
9. After fighting some crime, what does Janet do? Puts her arms around Nadia and Ying, tells them they're staying at her house, and takes them for tacos. This is 100% good parenting here.
10. This entire speech makes me stan Janet Van Dyne. "Here's the thing about being a super hero-- once you start doing it, it changes your life forever. And it happens in ways you never expect. Like how, for most of your life, you tell yourself that you're not the mom type... But then you find yourself clinging tights to two teenage girls in a New Jersey emergency room in the middle of the night. And you can't imagine letting them go, so now, without your ever actually thinking it over, they're staying with you. And even though your nose is broken and you're battered and beaten and sleep-deprived... you couldn't be happier."
