Perhaps you've met a woman who just sparkles. She has a radiance and joy on the inside that shines out. Wolfe says it is the sparkle that comes when a woman has experienced Jesus as an identity transformer. She is a woman who is becoming who God created her to be.

Wolfe helps us understand how that sparkle comes to be. She covers each of 31 qualities in as many chapters. These are qualities of a woman who sparkles. She should know. She was Miss USA in 2009.

Some of the qualities she covers are ones I expected, such as makeup and clothing. But there were several qualities that surprised me. Finding your dream was one. She suggests God will give you a vision of what he wants you to accomplish. She even includes a number of questions to help readers discover their passions and ultimately their dream. Another was having a childlike wonder, something we often lose as we grow older. Other surprising qualities included resilience, confidence, focus, humility, and wisdom. My favorite was being God-centered. Even the chapter on clothing emphasized dressing to express your essence rather than to make an impression.

I am impressed with level of insight and maturity Wolfe evidences in this book. I thought maybe this book would reflect the shallow thoughts of a beauty queen. I was happily surprised to find the author is a thoughtful, well read committed Christian who is more concerned about our inner spiritual condition than outward appearance. And she is practical. She includes great questions for reflection and suggestions for action. She also provides a prayer at the end of each chapter as well as Scripture passages relating to the topic.

I recommend this book to teens and career age women who desire to sparkle with inner beauty, expressing their true identity in Christ. You'll find good inspiration and a practical strategy for transforming growth. This is a book you can read time and again along your journey.

Food for thought: “There is nothing more sparkle-infusing than spending time with God and basking in His love.” (Loc 1794/3835)

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

The Sparkle Effect is a Christian living book by author Kristen Dalton Wolfe. I wanted to read this book because of the title. I was curious about what the author would say. To my complete amazement, the author is wise beyond her years. I believe she wrote this book to reach women of all ages. She has experienced negative in her life and wants to help other women come out of the negatives into the glorious sparkle that is available to all women.

Each short chapter speaks on what the reader can do to achieve the sparkle effect. There is also a short prayer and a few scripture verses. Chapter seven is my favorite because Kristen wants the reader to realize they are a queen in the heavenly realms and that is what the reader should focus on.

There were two quotes that stood out to me, “When you experience doubt, remember you can’t always control your circumstances but you can control your thoughts.” (p. 62) “We all have a little girl in us who wants to play, leap around, and radiate the wonders of God.” (p. 105)

I love the cover of the book because it radiates sparkle through Kristen’s smile and her outfit, even the letters appear to sparkle. My take-away that I want to remember: It’s not trying to think positive thoughts that will improve our thinking but the Word of God alone, for His Word will not return void.

I recommend this book to women of all ages who would like more sparkle in their life.

This is such an inspiring book! I loved how she encouraged us to sparkle as ourselves and the way God made us. So many of us feel like we need to be different than we are or change things about ourselves to be like someone else when we would be far better off being the best us we can be.

I love how Kristen shares so openly and honestly about her life and the things she herself has been through or thought. She makes you feel like you're sitting with a friend and she's pointing out the great things about you. She encourages us to use our gifts and not be someone we're not.

Finding out dream is such a wonderful part of this book! So many of us aren't sure what our dream is or we may feel like our dream is too big or silly. Kristen encourages us to live our dream - to go for that thing that makes our heart happy and excited. This helped me so much!

This is a book that I will re-read many times to encourage me and keep me focused on my dreams and living a sparkle-filled life! How exciting to live a life of joy and sparkle!

This book is for every woman! Yes, it would have been nice to have read this when I was younger but we're never too old to spark and shine for Jesus or to live our dream! I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.

The Sparkle Effect: Step into the Radiance of Your True Identity is an inspiring book by Kristen Dalton Wolfe, the 2009 winner of Miss USA. Throughout the book, Wolfe talks about “sparkling” – about following your dreams as you follow God, and accomplishing great things as you help others. The book discusses topics such as beauty, resilience, self-worth, healing, thankfulness, humility, sincerity, and vitality.

The Sparkle Effect is a heartfelt book, and Wolfe boldly encourages others in their walks with God. I like how Wolfe talks about seeing every day as an adventure as we embrace God. I also like the prayers that she includes towards the end of each chapter. The author provides insightful commentary on trusting God, being supportive of others, and learning to say “no” to people.

I enjoyed learning more about Wolfe’s journey as Miss USA. She shows that beauty comes from within, and that true beauty is measured through kindness and courageousness. I like how Wolfe talks about using the strengths that you have been given and making the most of them. She is a great role model for young girls, demonstrating that it is important to follow God instead of listening to the lies of the world. One of the best messages Wolfe sends is, “We will never become our best selves if we are focused on trying to be liked.”

I received this book for review.

It is an inspirational book, a good guide for young women. It is not well written or edited. Still, it serves as a lovely reminder that we are on purpose, for a purpose, regardless of our current circumstances or personal history.

In all honesty, I found most of the examples in the book incredibly superficial and the described challenges essentially insignificant. I wondered what qualifies this lady, who appears to never have faced a real challenge, or done anything of actual importance, to offer advice on anything of significance. Don’t get me wrong, I care significantly about every aspect of my appearance in every possible way. But, I know there are real life experiences that goes well beyond party invitation, twinkle lights, or even popularity and she appears extremely ignorant about most of it.

But, I found that regardless of our personal experiences or goals, achieving them and stepping into our roles requires a firm foundation that are based on the same principles; God’s word.

Every woman must read The Sparkle Effect! No matter where you are in life, we have all felt insecure, discouraged or have dealt with self- criticism. This book conveys the truth of who we are as women in Christ and how as his daughters, we are to walk in His purpose for our lives. Kristen writes with honesty, authenticity and encouragement. While reading this book, I feel like I'm sitting across the room with her over coffee. She addresses the struggles we all face, but doesn't leave us there, but embarks on the journey of freedom, which I love! We all deserve to Sparkle! You have a right to walk out your heavenly identity! I loved this book and I can't recommend it enough!! It is so good!! I didn't know I needed this book, until I read it. I give this book over 5 stars!! Make sure you grab a copy and purchase a copy for a friend.

A little concerned about the "name it and claim it" portion (& the oddity of walking into Bethel to be spoken over right away etc that differ from my belief system), but otherwise some generally decent advice aimed at young women, & while I tired of the pagent aspect and insecurities, I think there are some tips that could really help some women about thoughts of comparison and standards, etc. I think she's got some more growth and depth to discover, as well as becoming more theologically sound, but many young ladies could identify with not fitting in or feeling cool and find it encouraging to read.
(FYI, the subtitle above doesn't match the cover of the one I have though event else does.)

Even though this is geared as a devotional for women, I found many interesting stories and ideas from the writing from former Miss USA Wolfe. The book encourages women in a positive way to find their gifts and dreams that God gives them and try to achieve them. Her writing is honest and entertaining without going over the heads of the reader with Biblical jargon.

In her book Kristen describes the qualities that women should have to radiate with joy and get rid of insecurities, fear and unhappiness. Every woman can ask God for these qualities because we are his beloved daughters, his queens. Her message is good, however, I felt that it was directed to a younger audience (teenagers, young women) as many of the examples she gave of her struggles and how she overcame them had to do with her teenage years.

This feels like reading wise and heartfelt words from a big sister.

I found it warm and inspiring, even though I’m not Christian. There are a few errors throughout the book, like her naming Maleficent as the queen from Snow White, but the earnestness is there so it feels overlook-able.

I think it takes boldness to write with such innocence and hope in this modern world, so I respect and appreciate her spirit a lot :)

The authentic narrative and relatable struggles will likely strike a chord with many women, particularly those who have felt discouraged or insecure at one time or another. The author is honest and open about her struggles with depression, weight issues, and dyslexia. The goal of this book is to help the reader discover their true identity, as Kristen Dalton Wolfe did.

To be honest, I kind of question a few of the things in this book, especially some of the theology or helpful tidbits. However, I think this should be read more like a light devotional than a book you get through in a sitting.
