Matt is my guardian, my rock. But he has a dark secret. One he’s carried with him his entire life… and it’s tearing him up inside. With more honor than sense, he’s decided to turn himself in to the authorities and face unjust execution.
But I won’t let that happen. Now it’s my turn to be his protector.
And if that were my only problem I’d have my hands full, but on top of it all a ghost from the past has shown up, complicating everything. Brutal factions in the Fidei, demons threatening to seize power, and a plot against our governing body are making it impossible to know who to trust. The whole magicborn world has been turned upside down. And we’ve stumbled onto some damning information that just might set the whole powder keg off.
Can my coven keep it together in the face of flawed justice, the pain of the past, and the weight of our destiny? If not, the fragile balance of the Spelldrift could topple into darkness.
Rage, the third book in the Coven of Fire series by Sierra Cross, will keep you on the edge of your seat with dangerous magical secrets, forbidden desire, and pulse-pounding action.
I live for magic. Modern magic, infused with heart and humor. Sometimes with an edge. Always with bright romantic sparks.
When I’m not spinning urban fantasy tales, you can find me flying after my 6-year-old witchling, cackling with my coven, or savoring a book while cuddled up with my cat familiar and, of course, coffee.
Sierra Cross is back with RAGE and all of the pain, the secrets and the fears that Matt has kept hidden are about to be exposed in a most painful and heart-wrenching way. What could the honorable guardian possibly be hiding?
While the coven’s very existence is threatened, demons are planning their own attack on the magicborn governing body. Who can be trusted? Will Alix finally grow into her position as coven leader?
Wow, this addition to the series is much darker and the action seems more intense as the lines between friend and foe are blurred, souls are haunted by the past and one guardian may face execution for circumstances out of his control.

My Thoughts : So, not as fast paced as Book 2. But this one was much more emotional. We have Matt who is born from a union of witch and guardian and he considers himself evil. And he thinks that his presence may harm Alex and so he decides to surrender to the Fidei. A scene eerily similar to the one where Bella Swan rescues Edward Cullen when he plans to step into the sunlight. :D I can't help.. When I was reading the scenes, I could see flashes from Twilight.. So what if it's lame ??
And in her quest to convince Matt that he is all things good, Alex stumbles across proof that the Fidei are a huge can of worms waiting to be exposed. We see Liv going after Callie with hopes that the real Callie is still holding on. And damn, I think Callie will be back soon.. We have Alana, Matt's mom who now carries a Caedis inside her, but her feelings for Matt are so strong that even then Caedis wants to adopt Matt :D But Matt is a true guardian and he does what's right, even though he is now really losing his mother. Wonder who his father is??
The court scenes were a little dreadful. And I am glad that Matt was released. Sad to his guardianship go, because it meant so much to him. But otherwise, I am glad he is not a guardian anymore. Guardians seem to be misled group of people who have sticks up their 'you-know-where'. Case in question, Chris. I loved to read about Matt's power and how unique and strong it is. Aunt Jenn seems to be getting better?? Who knows what she's planned. And yes, still waiting for a full blast of Alex's power.. Where is it?? Time's a wasting !!! And as far as Alex-Matt chemistry is concerned. Oh yeah.. finally a little action.. Can't wait to see how the passion progresses..
PS : I even had a thought if Matt-Alex-Asher could happen ?? ohhh...
** I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. **
I am such a big fan of this series. Alix and her coven are battling both internal and external forces that threaten to tear them apart. Alix continues to kick ass and take names. Asher was up to his usual shenanigans, but by the end I felt we had gotten to know him a bit better. Matt made some incredibly bad choices, but I still love the guy. Major game changing revelations went down. There were definitely some characters who surprised me, and I look forward to seeing what happens in the next book. I am still holding out hope that the one thing I need to happen will at some point in this series. So close in this one. So painfully close.
***I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advanced reader copy of this book.***
Alix and her misfit team of coven witches are back and still fighting demons. Alix and the team are still trying to save their “sister witch” Callie from evil demons. But this time around one of their other “sister witches” Matt is in trouble. Matt is Alix’s guardian and he is having a little trouble with being a guardian at the moment because of his feelings for Alix among other things. Guardians have to follow a strict set of rules to be honorable enough to be a guardian.
So when Matt takes off and doesn’t tell the coven where he is Alix figures out real quick like that Matt is in trouble and needs her help. Matt has every intention of turning himself into the council for disobeying the rules but this is not going to happen if Alix can prevent it. Alix and Asher take off after Matt to try and stop him after they find him they run into a little trouble and get themselves kidnapped by a very powerful and mysterious lady.
I have truly loved reading the Coven of Fire series watching Alix and the entire team of misfits grow in their magic and become closer to each other as well. The more I read the more I feel like Alix, Matt, Asher and Liv are all becoming like old friends to me. This series has been filled with lots of magic and demon fighting galore and the more I read the better it gets. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series Blaze. I can’t wait to see what adventures and trouble the team get their selves into next and what kind of demons they end up fighting. I also hope to see Matt and Alix’s relationship grow. I would also love to see Asher and Liv find someone special as well.
Have you read the Cove of Fire series yet? If not then I would very much like to suggest that you do but I would say read them in order. The first book is Rise and the second one is Ignite both are great reads. Check out the links above to learn more about each book in the series.
This third book in the Spelldrift series is just as engaging as its predecessors. It's full of action and suspense, twists and turns, and lots of snark. Asher's quips are some of my favorite lines - you never know what our crazy warlock will say next! This is an ongoing story and this one picks up where book two left off. I thought I had a clue where this one would go, but I was so wrong. With Matt facing execution, the coven may have to enlist the help of the last person Alix wants help from - her dark and twisted Aunt. Cross has shown just how talented she is with her fantastic world building, interesting characters, and hold your breath, twisty story line. It's a story of magic, friendship, love, and family. And after that ending, I'll be anxiously awaiting the next book in this terrific series.
This series continues to get better and better and the action never ends. No that Matt knows what he is and the guilt and his honor are driving him, the coven has to protect him from his self but that's not it. This issues is filled with twist upon twist, revelations and betrayal, pain and punishment. Most of all it becomes redemption. Values and pride are maintained and honor remains when the bricks fall. Matt remains true to himself, the coven finds it's strength even as she realizes the power that is within her.
I loved it. From the first page to the last this author has show she can hold our attention and keep a strong story that gets better with each book in the series. The characters hold true to themselves and the story holds loads of surprises that just make it better.
This is a great series and you really need to read them all in order.
Matt means so much to Alix and she won't stand by and watch him self-destruct. She will do anything she can to keep him and other members of the coven safe from the growing harm.
In this book, they all face great danger. There are some unexpected surprises as to where the danger comes from. They also learn more about their strengthens. Each book really build up the tension and I am always eager to see what is next for them.
This is truly an awesome series!. I read Books 1 and 2 as individual books but there is a 3 book set which is perfect to be able to go through them all one after another!. Book 3 - Rage - does no disappoint as this saga continues! Their little Coven once again get thrown into what seems like an impossible challenge. But this gritty group, even through disagreements, holds together for each other and pushes on. I love the interaction between them all and am looking forward to Book 4 with anticipation. Bring on Tenebris!
Matt has spent his whole life hiding his true nature and has decided that the right thing to do is to turn himself into the Guardians. Alix and the coven want to save Matt at any cost necessary, but Matt seems to get in his own way preventing them from saving him at every turn. The only thing that is holding him back is a shock from his past that might change the entire world.
Everyone has secrets and some secrets can be dangerous. Rage connects on a soul level with what some people face every day; secrets, fear, hatred. Explosive action will keep you reading until the very end.
This was a rollercoaster ride of emotion from start to finish. Aunt Jen is still evil and trying to recruit Alix. Matt is in trouble that could end in death. Alix is still in love with Matt and Matt in love with her. Asher is still Asher but de as l dealing with loss and misplacing feelings in regards to Alix.
Will the demons be thwarted? Will this unorthodox coven come to a violent end?
Rage: Spelldrift, Coven of Fire, book three by Sierra Cross. I'm again giving this third book in this series five stars. I usually will only give four to a book with cliffhangers. The world in which these books take place is wonderful! The characters and storyline are fantastic! I can't wait to read the next book in the series Blaze!
I've literally devoured this series from the word go. It's so engaging. I love they way that all of the main characters are so flawed..... No-one is perfect, far from it, but the whole thing really works. The world created by Sierra Cross for her stories is well crafted, the plot has depth and flows at an incredible pace. Love this series.
😱Sooo Good Book 3 and yes this fast paced, entertaining read will have you hooked from the beginning, it grabs your attention and doesn't let go. So if you are looking for a great new series I hope you will consider Spelldrift .. coven of fire series, you will not be disappointed! This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy
There is no way that I can implore that you read these books except for to tell you that thank goodness there are still others out there that right about stories and not things in the bedroom… Now she will lead you right up to it but that’s the way it supposed to be… Excellent book and I am practically breaking out into hives waiting for the next one which is out in Mere days
This book is a must real for all paranormal lovers. Having read all the books so far, this is by far the best!! I loved it... The characters all work well together with plenty of excitement and action. I just couldn't put this down. I can't wait for the next.
Awesome book! So much happened - this series keeps getting better! Lots of action, twists and OMGs. Not standalone, so grab the previous books and join the coven! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Great characters and stories! I feel like I have known them forever. Cannot wait to read the next one and hopefully there will be many more to come in this series!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
With Matt's dramatic actions at the end of "Ignite" the stakes are even higher for the Coven of Fire. While Alix and Asher head to Europe to help Matt, Liv works in Seattle to find a way to save the good Cassie she believes is still hidden within the dark witch she's become.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this installment in the series and we get a closer look at the various ruling bodies that regulate the Magicborn community. A lot happens during the story - sometimes it came close to being a bit too much - but overall it's a good, fun read.
