I enjoyed the page-turning intensity of this romantic suspense. High-risk investigation indeed. Scout doesn't have an inkling of what she's walking into when she won't give up investigating her parents' murder. Danger is stalking her...and so is Nicco Santonni but for all the right reasons. Being a bodyguard in the shadows has it's difficulties -- especially when his unsuspecting client keeps putting herself in dangerous situations.
And the romance -- clear off your fainting couch, readers. It heats up after the initial spark ignites at their high-action introduction and keeps on sizzling ever after. These two are definitely made for each other...if they can stay alive long enough to enjoy their new found love.
Jane M. Choate is definitely on my short list of 'must buy' romantic suspense writers.

This has to have been the most terribly written and cheesiest of this series I have ever read. The transitions were non-existent; first the characters were doing one thing and then they were magically doing something else with no explanation of how that happened. There was way too much repetition of each character’s main heartbreak/problem and I’ve read better romantic scenes in a trashy romance novel....even if I exclude the steamy parts.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, High-Risk Investigation. I enjoy all of Jane's books and this one is excellent. It's well written, action packed, and fast paced. She has woven her faith throughout the story like a fine tapestry. I know you are going to love this one.
Journalist Scout McAdams makes her mother's investigation her first priority after her parents death. Her mother was a best seller true-crime writer and was in the middle of an expose. Scout must find out what is going on even though someone is trying to stop her.
S&J Security/Protection Operative Nicco Santonni is hired by his sister-in-lae to be a body guard to protect Scout. It is suppose to be a secret. The threatening letters she has been receiving has his sister-in-law really worried about her friend. As a former Army Ranger it will take all of his training to keep them alive.
A journey of two courageous souls battling their enemies to find their way to true love. God has a plan for these two, a plan for good and not for evil. God has a plan for you too, a plan for a hope and a future. Give Him your heart, trust Him, and watch Him move in your life.

Scout is a strong, independent heroine determined not to be a victim. There is an appropriate blend of romance and suspense, and the action is well choreographed. Though there are a few lulls in the plot. Choate’s characters demonstrate the importance of relying on the Lord when human strength falters.

She believes her father’s death was collateral damage. Unfortunately, Scout’s life is now in danger. A former army ranger named Nicco Santonni is tasked with keeping her safe, whether she wants his help or not. In order to do that, he needs to set his past and his guilt over losing the woman he loved aside. Is it possible to outrun one’s past? Will the truth be deadlier than Nicco and Scout expected?

I liked the courage and determination that Scout showed in getting to the truth. She never wavered, even when Ricco, the bodyguard assigned to keep her safe, insisted she quit. The storyline was good with plenty of action to keep me interested. Both characters were strong but had their moments of doubt, which made them human and relatable.
The story is one of lies, cover-ups, and corruption in the least likely places. That, put together, with an underlying romance, makes for a great story.

I could write a book. You probably could too. But would it be any good? Not mine. I love to read books. This book is one of the best romance suspense books that I’ve read in a long time. It has witty conversation, plenty of chemistry, and a heart pumping plot. I loved the characters and hated for the story to end! I will definitely be checking out more books from this author! Well done and please keep writing!

As one of the best romantic suspense novels I have ever read, High-Risk Investigation by Jane Choate is a must read. Not only is it a fast-paced romantic suspense that will keep you up late into night, but her characters, Scout and Nicco are totally unforgettable.

I liked this book. It took me a bit longer to read than others because it was a bit easier to put down, but I still wanted to know how it ended. I listened to the Apple Narrated audiobook and enjoyed it. I guessed the villain but didn't piece it all together until the reveal.
