Learn to heal depression, anxiety, brain fog, and other mental disorders without drugs. Every part of your body affects every other part of your body, and if any one area is not functioning properly, other systems will feel it, too. There is a fundamental connection between the brain, the gut, the microbiome, and the thyroid which Dr Raphael Kellman calls the whole brain . In this lively, accessible book, he reveals how this system works in tandem to keep us healthy, and how, by making small changes, we can use it to heal mood and mental disorders without drugs. With a practical guide featuring meal plans, an exercise program, and a program of daily meditations and affirmations, The Whole Brain Diet will benefit people diagnosed with depression or anxiety, and those who just want to feel better in themselves.

NO. I just read the re-published version of this, "The Microbiome Breakthrough." The first 150 or so pages were a struggle, with a little bit of science, but mostly just saying the same thing over and over again, about how you can solve your "depression, anxiety, and brain fog." I wish I could count the number of times that phrase is used in sentence after sentence after sentence. The book seriously needs an editor. I kept reading in hopes that it would say something concrete. Stopped on page 173 when it said not to eat high fructose corn syrup: "It imbalances your microbiome by overfeeding certain bacteria, which is bad enough," okay, but then, "But since most of the corn in the United States has been genetically modified, HFCS also potentially scrambles the genes in your microbiome as well." Yeah, that's not a thing. People, PLEASE do not take medical advice from this person!!!!! Recycling my copy to keep it out of the hands of any other unsuspecting victims.
Great content overall. I’m excited to try it and see if it helps.
But overall super super redundant. He could cut out like 1/2 the material from the book and have the same message - it’s like he was trying to make the book longer needlessly.
I’d like to see more specifics on the thyroid stuff. What ranges should these values be in? What about the markers of inflammation? What are some holistic options to solve the thyroid issues, if any?
