A lot of baby books operate at an inaccessible, meta level, focusing on the philosophy behind some particular practice. "First Year Baby Care" provides grounded instruction, with actual photos of basic caretaking skills, like how to give a baby a bath, change a cloth diaper, or wrap a good swaddle. I found it very useful and also think it would be the ideal book to give to a clueless partner or relative who will learn more easily by looking at a series of demo photos than slogging through a thousand page tome by Dr. Sears.
