A New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Penelope Sky is known for her dark romance that makes you fall for her characters….no matter how dark they seem. Her books are being translated into several languages around the world, and she’s sold more than a million books worldwide. She lives in a small town in California with her husband, where she spends most of her time writing on the back porch.
This book is the showdown between Cane and Tristan. Tristan is the client of Cane who kept Adeline as a slave until he lent her to Cane. Cane was supposed to return Adeline to Tristan but when he balked at that Tristan took his brother Crow. Now Cane must do whatever it takes to get his brother back. Even if that means returning Adeline to Tristan.
“We should have our butlers battle and see who wins,” Cane said. “My money is on Gerald.”
This book was funnier than the others. I liked the comedy as well as the HEA for the two couples.
After putting the final 2 books off for 7 months I finally finished the series and wow. It was dark and twisted but I absolutely adore the Barsetti brothers and their women 🥺 Did I tear up at the end? Yes, I’m just glad they got their happy endings
This book was a battle with one of the best clients Crow & Cane had. Tristian had loan Adeline to Cane until he could pay the reminder balance for the weapons Tristian bought. As the 31 days comes to and end Cane was dreading returning Adeline back to Tristian.
A week later Cane realized he made a mistake and wanted his Bellissima back so he went to his brother and made the plans to over take Tristian's compound, with his Bellissima now back with him. Cane & Crow has killed all of Tristian men and hoping that Tristian is dead also. Soon they finds out that Tristian is alive and he has come after Crow.
Button tells Cane to do whatever he must do to get her husband back. What will Cane do to get his brother back, will that include giving up his Bellissima? Cane must make deals with his old crew but how much will it cost? Now bitter because Cane feels like he has lost everything will he ruin the only thing/relationship he has ever had?
I have something to say I read all six books I was obsessed from the start was excited that I would get cane story after all was said and done but then I got ( I even read all the books in a total of 4 days) : Cane , Crow and Pearls side with the addition of the new comer Adelina I wasn't okay with that at first but then I got to this book and I came to piece with the story not being just about cane and his journey to love. Now if you read the first three books things kept changing with the characters eye colors and once I got to the third book well the whole thing was a grammar Nazi nightmare I mean I am not the best at writing things but that is what my husband is for!!!! I pushed forward and now I am at the end of the rode but here is there problem if you read the end of book three there was a epilogue that consisted of the end of Pearl and Crows story and well they had a little girl named Vanessa and a son name Constantine they also were pregnant with baby number three so it had been some time after the story ended and they got married that is all cool but also cane was single at the end that is understandable if she didn’t know, she was writing another set of books but then you get to the end of book 6 and guess what they have a baby boy and poor Vanessa got a sex change. I am wanting to be a writer and I feel like she totally messed with her readers heads and the characters we came to love over time. Also Cane was still and arms dealer and Cane and Pearl saved people. Other then all the mess ups I read and loved but now I don’t want to read again and don’t know if I can read anymore of her books.
What?? What??? What?!! I felt like I wasted my time reading the series! Author is not consistent at all, are you sure it’s a same person writing the 1-3 books and 4-6 books?? Epilogue of Button n Pain clearly showed that Crow n Pearl have 1 eldest daughter named Vanessa, second born named Constantine and the third one on the way. Crow wanted to have more babies but Pearl said the third one is gonna be the last baby. Cane is still in arm dealer business and asking Crow for help.
But in the epilogue of Button n Grace, it seemed like Penelope got an amnesia or something because suddenly Pearl is eager to have 4 babies! And their firstborn is a boy named Conway. And Cane is no longer doing business in arm dealer.
The worst of it, she made a character of a notorious leader who skin people’s head and kept their skull named CONSTANTINE. I thought Constantine gonna be a nice guy and be their friends and died while helping Adelina got out and THAT IS HOW CROW NAMED HIS KID CONSTANTINE.
But nope.
Oh maybe a year later Conway would be dead or something so Pearl have another baby who is a girl named vanessa (which means yeah she have 4 babies in total) Adelina and Cane got divorced so Cane got into arm dealer business again. You forgot to put those in the epilogue IV
I really liked the ending of this book series. I liked the characters. The only thing what annoyed me sometimes, was Pearl. I understand Penelope wanted her to come over as a really strong woman with a kind of power, that everyone listens to her. But seriously, some things Pearl did in this series was just stupid. Even though if she's a strong woman, nobody would do some things she's done.
I really liked the story of Cane and Adalina. But everything is so alike. It's so similar to the story of Pearl and Crow. I would've liked to see more different things with Cane, so the story would be a little different. But I liked the ending, now I will continue with the Lingerie series. I already started it, because I didn't know about "Buttons".
The anticipated final instalment to the Button series and the Barsetti brothers
In attempt to save Adeline, Crow has now been taken. Cane must do everything he can to get his brother back from Tristan and if that means giving Adeline back then that is what he will do.
Cane finally reveals his true feelings to Adeline and her reaction devastates him. Pearl intervenes giving Adeline some much needed insight in hope she will change her mind.
I cannot divulge much more without giving too much away, but before you get to the HEA there is plenty of thrilling suspense and heart clenching moments to keep you eagerly flicking through the pages.
Penelope wraps up the Buttons series nicely giving me all the warm and fuzzy I needed to farewell the Barsetti brothers and their beloved.
MY THOUGHTS: Book #4 was short enough that this one could have been condensed and included in. There was a lot of fluff wrapping it up giving it a bitter sweet ending to the series. Do I really have to say goodbye to Crow and Pearl? I will forever associate the word button now with this story and although I enjoyed Pearl and Crow’s love story more, Cane’s had a story of his own that needed to be told.
GENRE: Dark Romance NARRATION: Multiple POV BOOK DETAILS: Book #6 of The Buttons Series. Book one: Buttons and Lace Book two: Buttons & Hate Book three: Buttons and Pain Book Four: Buttons and Shame Book Five: Buttons and Blame
AUDIO AVAILABLE – Whisper- sync ready DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK? Yes, If you have read all five books in the series then you need closure.
Narrated by: Michael Ferraiuolo, Samantha Cook Length: 7 hrs and 25 mins
Over all I preferred reading this series over the audio. Like the last two audio’s I enjoyed Michael and Samantha’s performance but I just don’t think they were matched well enough with the personality traits of the characters in the story.
AUDIO RATING: 3/5 NARRATORS MATCHED TO CHARACTER: 3/5
5 STARS!!!!! Ok .. another amazing book just finished!! Although the end was pretty predictable .. Adelina and Cane would end up together we didn't know how they would end up together!! The most important is that Button series captivate you from beginning until the end!! Also Button series may be too dark for some readers but it is an excellent story of Barsetti brothers that move from dark to light!!

While I read this in one sitting, I still can't give this 5 stars because there are a lot of inconsistencies.
First, and I keep mentioning this, is the Barsettis seem like Americans. There's no trace of Italian in their speech, and even Cane calling Adelina "Bellissima" just didn't cut it.
Second, and I also mentioned this, the currency is always is dollars when they're living in Italy.
I could go on and on but what really bothered me was the epilogue in Buttons and Pain. I really went back to it and based on that, their first born was a girl named Vanessa followed by Constantine. However, in this story, their first born is Conway (again, no trace of Italian) so what gives?
Also in that epilogue, it seems like Cane was still single since he was eyeing someone. If he had a woman in his life, he wouldn't be interested in another, given that the woman is Pearl and Crow's guest.
In this story, Cane gets the love of his life and they have a son together. They named him Carter (so American!)
I have nothing against America or Americans, but it would be more plausible if the author just mentioned that 2 American brothers migrated to Italy and decided to build a business there.
I may have misguided assumptions seeing as I have not been to Italy (but I'd definitely love to go), but if someone were born and raised there, won't they speak in their native language most of the time? Just a thought.
First problem with this book, which happened with the epilogue of book three and this final not at all agree. If Penmelope Sky reads this review, please explain the final change to me, In relation to Adelina and Cane, the couple decided that it was not a book that surprised me, the plot became very repetitive and I continue that this ending was wrong, I know that writing books It is not an easy job but I should read the previous books to write the other books well.
I have mixed feelings about this installment. Cain seemed so soft and mushy. He made a complete 360 from the other installments. I know he's in love but that love seemed to have totally emasculated him. He seemed to have completely hit rock bottom after the split.
Cain and Crow's relationship have improved greatly. And that's a plus. Lots of new things happening in this installment. Lots of exciting things!
That was a 300 pages epilogue ... Everything was done, the plot and all but apparently a third act breakup was "needed". It felt like the worst way to conclude a series that I loved.
This series is amazing, loved all six books though Cane's story was pretty predictable, I knew Adelina and Cane would end up together what I didn't know is how they would end up together. I didn't expect her choice once free but, knew it would change. I like the follow up and closing the loose ends with button and Crow. Excellent story, two strong women and how they brought their men to their knees. Now it is four stars because the epilogue of book four has a pregnant Button her and Crow are parents to Vanessa (5yo), Constantine (3yo) and Julia a slave they saved. In book six we have Button pregnant with their first child, she gives birth to a baby boy who they name Conway. The whole thing confused the hell out of me. I am not sure if I am the only one that noticed but that was why the four stars. Also book six ends early and we are given a freebie of boss lady, I tried to get I to it, I did read it but, it was kind of lame. The Buttons series is one of the best series I have read. The sex is hot,the characters are strong and beautiful, the drama is amazing. Loved it and highly recommended this series!
An amazing ending for a fantastic series. I have so many mixed emotions. One things for sure is I'm so sad that this series has come to and end. At the same time I'm super excited that I was able to experience and witnesses the transformation of the Barsetti brothers. Of course things weren't perfect and at time you felt like you were on a emotional rollercoaster. But I loved being on that journey with Crowe and Pearl Cane and Adelina too. Filled with plenty of drama, intrigue, and of course steamy romance and we can't forget the edge of your seat action. The series wrapped up nicely I'm definitely going to missed the Barsetti brothers. Hopefully will see them again in the future but this time through the eyes of their kids. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
The summary doesn’t do this story justice, but it at least sets the tone for what we’re going to get. We know that the relationship between Adelina and Cane is one that’s destined to fail, and it’s more painful to live through than the roller coaster that was Crow and Pearl’s story. the notion of Cane finally having Adelina in a secure place is a nice notion, but one that doesn’t have much sound foundation.
We spend a lot of this story wanting to see a happy ending, but that’s impossible. Tristan isn’t dead, and being able to get Adelina back from him was a set up. one that was planned and was more like a test than anything else. What comes of it is Crow being kidnapped and tortured, with the only solution being giving up Pearl as a trade. We all know that she’s not an option, which means that we have to prepare ourselves to say goodbye. Nothing for Cane is panning out in this book – he loses the girl he loves because she doesn’t love him back, and he’s losing his brother because there’s no way to make a trade like that.
Crow’s only job in life is to protect Pearl, and so he sends her away with Lars which was maybe the smartest move ever. An added twist factors into things now too – being that of a new Barsetti on the way, and we know that things will get even more crazy. The connection that Pearl and Crow have makes this story rooted so deeply in all things that fairy tales are made of, and we want to see that play out in a good way, but have a bleak view of the future.
The mission to get Crow back is a suicide mission once they realize that Tristan has been setting them up time after time, and it’s getting BAD. The solve, thankfully from the sane thoughts of Adelina and Pearl are to trade their arms business for the help of the Skull Kings and, which means that Cane again loses something important, but maybe gets his brother back.
From this point on, we see a depressed and dejected Cane, a man who’s heart is broken, who’s soul is broken, who has no professional purpose in life. He gets angry, resents Adelina for her feelings, and agrees to let her go back home. It’s not what his heart tells him to do, but he has to do it for her. Even with Crow and Pearl reassuring him that things will work out, it’s an impossible thought to him.
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned from all of the stories by our author, it’s that no two relationships and plot lines are the same. What panned out in one way for one duo will not be the case for another, so while there is so much weight against how things netted out for Crow and Pearl, we know that it can’t work out that easily for Cane and Adelina. Everything that we’ve seem between them have been on a different level, so their ending to their story has to be different as well.
We still get moments of sweet romance and tenderness which is unique, all while still seeing the same rage and anger that’s the Italian trait. Both carry this story through and certainly kept me beyond engaged that i was able to finish it in just one day. I can’t wait to see how things continue since there has to be more of the Barsetti story somewhere.

Wow, 6 books in this series, What started as a very very dark and messed up story has transformed along with the lives and mindsets of the Barsetti family, While I do miss the original twisted, messed up feel (I'm just weird like that), it's been quite a journey and it's about time these guys all get their happy ever after. I look forward to whatever books come from this author in the future.
I thought that this was a great wrap up to the Buttons Series. We finally see both Crow and Cain settle down with the right woman and start their own families. It's been an exciting ride watching the Barsetti brothers fight for each other and for the ones they love. And I'm excited to see that there is a spin off series that follows their children.
