There's a reason why this was cancelled back in 2018 before the 5th and final issue even came out. The plot is incomprehensible. The plot jumps around in time so much it's hard to keep track of the story. ChrisCross's art isn't up to his normal standards and this Snakebite guy's coloring work may have taken place after he was actually snakebitten. The characters all look the same. I had a difficult time telling who was who.

Received a review copy from Dark Horse and Edelweiss.

Told through sporadic spurts going back and forth on the timeline of the plot, this was so hard to comprehend. Not to mention the issue of it being extremely difficult to figure out who was who because of the terrible art, even worse colouring, and never-ending list of characters. The plot was simplistic yet it still managed to be badly told so that nothing made sense.

This was a slog from start to finish; boring, cheap and incomprehensible. A Captain America rip-off featuring a neon green She-Hulk wannabe. Word to the wise: don’t waste your time on this low-level rubbish.

I usually like everything Alex de Campi, and this was the main reason I picked this one up!

She's pretty much an amazing story-teller, and her ideas and dialogue between characters is by far above average most of the time.. but... BUT... this one unfortunately didn't do anything for me. Boring plot and transparent one dimensional characters with a bunch of 'saw that coming' moments throughout the story and the artwork wasn't good for me neither, so it couldn't help at all the situation.

I was glad when I found out this was getting a full release after the initial run was canceled. What I got was a good action romp. But... not a lot of story.

It presented a lot of clear foreshadowing and development on Markus King back and forth throughout the run. Not to mention a clear sense of how even with his powers and mission to take on some warlord who left him for dead; it was pretty directionless. Sure by all accounts the way he interacts with others to keep him off his back is impressive; but then it got all used up in the excitement. I feel like I'm never going to see what makes Markus a good thief, just a good fighter. The only thing I'm going to remember is probably the impressive powers and weapons.

⌜Art⌟
The drawings depicted the action scenes really well they give a really good motion feel, and it is not difficult to understand the actions scenes. The colors are duller and not really happy and bright which fits the story perfectly. I would also like to point out the good separation between past and present is very easy to understand where in the story we are.

⌜Plot⌟

I really liked the plot it was really engaging, I couldn't stop reading it, I finished the Graphic Novel really fast, this book is filled with action, fighting, and revenge. I really love a graphic novel with a superhero vibe and this is exactly that.

I really liked to read about the character's story and his adventures, but I did feel like there could have been much more to it, there have been many parts that could be more elaborated, this story has potential for a series.

⌜Who should read it⌟

If you like the Avengers, superhero comics, and very action-packed books this graphic novel is for you, you won't regret it.

⌜Thank you Dark Horse books for the opportunity to read this book.⌟

I can see why this was quickly cancelled as it really wasn't very good even though going by the writer and illustrator it should have been.
The first issue was the strongest and I was interested but it went downhill quickly. It really wasn't helped by the jumping around in time.
