descriptionSimilar to book one's cover this one is a pretty awesome as well. It's an excellent representation on the heroine. Moody and dark like the book itself. Great composition. I probably would have made the author's name smaller and placed it below the title and byline, but overall it's a fantastic cover.description

descriptionBook two takes off right where we were left hanging at the end of book one. McKenna and Millie are running for their lives. Levi has set a game into play, leaving McKenna heartbroken and angry. Truths are revealed, and loyalties are tested...

description

I ADORED book one. It was twisted and brutal and hot as fuck, and I pretty much felt the same way about this one. Natalie Bennett is fastly becoming a MUST read everything she publishes author for me. Again I found this to be well-written. The pace was breakneck. It had twists and turns that will leave your head spinning. It had a few smokin' hot sex scenes. Again as with book one, we have even more death, gore, and depravity and two deliciously perfect for each other f@cked up main characters. All wrapped up in a twistedly sweet epilogue <--- seriously! I can't even believe I went aww. *lol*

So why not 5-Stars. Well like I said the pace of this one was breakneck and because of that, I felt the entire book could have used a bit more fleshing out. We had a lot of twists and turns, and info is thrown at us in a short amount of pages, and at times it could be a bit confusing to follow. BUT that was just a small issue and didn't take too much away from my enjoyment of this one

Two thumbs up from yours truly.description

"My pretty little psycho deserved the world, and I would make sure she got the best part of it"

"We might not deserve love, but I love the fuck out of you."

Oh, Levi 🖤

*Thanks to Natalie Bennett for sending me a copy of her books in exchange of an honest review*

This is book two of this duet. Make sure you read book one UltraViolence before you read this as the story continues.

Just before reading this I took the opportunity to re read book one. My reading list is so long I rarely get the opportunity to re read but with this I just had to. These characters were in my head since reading book one and I had to know what was going to happen after that ending. The author did not disappoint me.

I love how Kenna was portrayed as the strong feisty female character. Levi is hot and twisted. I love how perfectly suited these are to each other.

The only negative I have about this story is it felt more rushed than book one. A lot of information was thrown at us in a shorter read. I still loved it.

Fantastic story. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Alright , apart from the fact that this was exactly the kind of twisted I enjoy , I felt the pacing of the book was too damn fast to be properly savoured .

5 amazing stars

Ever since my first book by Natalie Bennett, i've been hooked. Now this is an author that isn't afraid to push the boundaries and make you really think on what makes people tick and why they do the things they do. Having have read the first instalment in the UltraViolence series, i knew what i was getting myself into and i don't think even at that i was completely prepared for the trip that i went on.

4.5 sexy dreams

I love the fact that Natalie Bennett isn't afraid to give you that sort of HEA that is unconventional. There's nothing 'sweet' or adorable about it. It's real. It's dark and it's so very addictive. I've come to realize that as much as i can enjoy a really good love story, i also love to read about the dark things that make you shudder and make you really think about whether or not you live with rose colored glasses. Blue Velvet was that. Oh, there was love. There was dirty and gritty. And there was also something that made you think , that made you realize that these characters don't fit in the box of what society deems as 'normal'. Quite honestly, i'm not sure how much more i can say about this book without giving away anything that is and was mind blowing. Trust me when i say that you should read the first book in the duet and then get ready to get your socks knocked off in ways you never expected... it's that much worth it. Trust me.

While I like a quick read, I felt that Natalie Bennett could have given us a few more pages in Blue Velvet to slow the story down. Even now as I think about this review, I'm not real sure what in the heck was going on when it was all said and done. This review may spoil book one, UltraViolence.

"This entire situation was a result of letting my heart lead instead of my head."

We start right where UltraViolence left off, McKenna and Millie on the run. There is somebody after Kenna and she's got a pretty good idea of who it is. Although, with the Institution and it's reach, she really doesn't know who is trying to erase her.

"Nothing would ever stop me from loving him. Distance, death, deceit, or judgement."

It's a darn good thing Kenna thinks that, because with Levi, that's exactly what she's getting. A big steaming pile of lying crap. I will admit, I did like Levi's alpha ways and how he wanted her as his, however, after learning the reason why, it was super creepy.

So we travel along with Kenna, Millie, Levi and the rest of the gang as the story unfolds and gets more confusing than ever. Even though she needs to hate him, Kenna can't help but drop her pants at the mere sight of Levi. Ugh. These two needed to do more talking than effing with what was going on all around them.

The book was good, a nice unorthodox ending, but felt extremely rushed. Especially at around the 80% mark. We were given facts and stories fast and furious without time or details to truly process and appreciate what these characters are going or have gone through.

Natalie Bennett has become one of my top 5 one-click authors very quickly. This is now the third book I have read by her and I see no end in sight. BlueVelvet is a fast paced, thrilling, hot read. Natalie has yet to write a female character as whiney or meek (thank goodness). Kenna is one of my favorite female characters with her ability to defend herself and take matters into her own hands. Levi, (swoon) is absolutely perfect for Kenna in more ways than one. I can not wait to read more books from Natalie Bennett.

Perfectly Deranged

For as short this book is, it was perfectly deranged. I mean that in a good way. For all killing spree that happens in this book there quite a bit story going on. Loved every bit of it!

I can't help but start out by saying that Blue Velvet is the second part in a duet, so guess what? YOU MUST READ UltraViolence (Book 1) FIRST! Since it's a short read with explosions sending shrapnel in every direction, I'm not giving details, just my insane and dramatic emotions instead. Natalie Bennett's diabolically brilliant writing style fed my hidden dark and twisty soul, and I LOVED it. So many twists and turns that I'm not sure the f-bombs ever stopped dropping cover to cover, especially since she picked the story up right where Book 1 left off. And I was afraid that my heart was going to pound out of my chest with all of the chaotic action. But let me hit on the ending a bit, (no spoiler douchery involved), because I'm still very jacked up. See, on one hand, so many questions were answered, on the other, I still have tons more, so I will be starting a campaign for this diabolically evil author (who has been hash tagged #EVILWHORE already) to give me one more book as I"m still confused about some things, and I can't stop thinking about it all, That shows that Ms. Bennett is truly a talent, because again, these are shorter books, and yet, I have so many crazy emotions out & about. So, if you really want to understand what I'm talking about, then just jump on the crazy train and read the books! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Wow. I almost don't know what to say about this book. It was SO incredibly messed up!! It picks up immediately after UltraViolence, so you don't want to read this if you haven't read that one first. And if you have read that one first, then you shouldn't need any warnings about how dark and twisted it is, if you have triggers, you shouldn't be reading it!
McKenna and Levi are probably the two most twisted characters I've ever read about. Granted, I've read books where one of the characters was that twisted, but this is the only one where BOTH main characters are equally crazy, insane and f*cked up! There were so many twists and turns, and lies, smoke and mirrors. I'm still asking myself what just happened, what did I read?? I probably need to read both books again, back to back. These two make Bonnie and Clyde look almost normal! If you like dark, you're going to love this!
My only complaint about the book would be that it felt a bit rushed. We were given a lot of information at breakneck speed, it felt like it could have been a bit longer and more detailed. Otherwise, it was a crazy, insane, fun ride!!

I loved the UltraViolence set. Seriously hands up this is one of my favourite sets/duos/series' in the genre for 2017. I think Natalie Bennett's mind may be my sister from another mister. I love her characters, her writing style, the blunt dirtiness that comes off the pages but keeps you captivated. Yes, she's definitely one of my favourites this year.

Blue Velvet was book 2 in the UltraViolence series. Did it get a HEA, yep but its far from 'normal' (Scratch that!), normal isn't write, its far from the 'usual' stuff you get with darker books. I loved the chemistry of Kenna and Levi. Honestly it was so hot it scorched. But I also liked hearing from both of them. Especially that last chapter from Levi, now that was damn clever. I was sad to end it as I kind of wanted to see more of the dynamics at the end. Still I guess all things have to end right?

4 stars, not for the feint hearted, this book comes with a warning, take that shit seriously! 4 stars, kindle unlimited.

Can I just say that it disturbed me how much I have loved this duet? No? Good because I did. This is such a fast paced story that if you blink you will miss something important. Keeps you on your toes and makes you inhale the words. I devoured the complete duet in one day, I could not put it down. But we are talking about Blue Velvet. If you have read Ultraviolence then this story picks up right where book 1 finished, Kenna and Millie are on the run for their lives.

Levi is so underhanded it is ridiculous, but he knows what he wants and takes it, he makes no apologies for his actions and they just get more selfish as the book progresses. Poor Kenna has no idea what she is in for.

This story is sick, twisted, demented and extremely hot and sexy. If you like the darker side of romance then you will love this duet, so get your copy now!

*4.5 stars*

Levi's character alone makes this book. I love McKenna and her feistiness but who doesn't love a villain? Ok, well...probably many don't. However, for those who do love them, Levi is amazing.

There are a great deal of action, truths, lies and twists all at once. The character development I felt continued to be good. However, with its short length and as much as the book worked to accomplish it felt a bit rushed which caused the deduction. I would have loved to see some scenes more drawn out, especially because the author has such a distinctive quality that lends so much into storytelling I wanted more.

There are definitely still some unanswered questions but I loved every moment of the short read. I definitely recommend for those who like dark, depraved and violent books.

I read book 1 yesterday and have read book 2 this morning, I liked it but it was no where near as good as The Badlands, The tale of Levi and Kenna was an obsession two very damaged individuals, the violence was bad yes but nothing like badlands, I feel deprived, I am a relative newcomer to Natalie Bennett and after devouring all 4 books of the badland series over the weekend I was craving more, These are what I got, q bit of a let down after such magnificent reads prior, I enjoyed it don't get me wrong but it was lacking a lot grit and to be honest I didn't like either characters, so I just finished them to be done with, I have since purchased a few more of her books hopefully they are as good as The Badlands if not I am going to be mighty disappointed.

This is the 2nd book in this duet, and #1 is a must read before this one. This story carries straight on from where the first book ended. Kenna and Levi are both as twisted and crazily insane as each other, and are absolutely perfect for each other. This storyline is fast paced, dark, thrilling, and hot, with lies and twists which kept me intrigued and hooked throughout.
What an amazing storyline this author has written, and I will certainly be adding her to my favourites and 1-click lists. Brilliant work Natalie!!

I just don't know what to say. There were so many twist and turns. I believe more than the first book. Kenna didn't know whether or not to trust Levi. She was being tricked time and time again. There were situations, which had your head spinning.

I loved how parts, which played out in Ultraviolence, got put into this story. Everything came back full circle. The love, which Kenna and Levi had, was unconventional. But... It worked. If you read Ultaviolence, you need to take the time and read Blue Velvet.

The final book in this duet was even more messed up then the first, my kind of mind f***. This book has so many twists and turns u never know what is going to happen next. Suffering from a major book hangover today so I could complete this book and find out the ever after.
Natalie Bennett has become one of my fav authors with her messed up mind, can't wait for more books from her.
